Necro best class in game
Although my main is my ranger now, I have logged in over 2.5k hours on my necro. I absolutely loved my minion bomb condition build when I was a noob. I often play my necro in pvp just because it’s so much fun. I am also really looking forward to playing GS with my necro. Who knows… I might shift back to necro. shrug
50/50 GWAMM x3
I quit how I want
I do way better on my other classes, despite engi being a better on condition damage class necro’s tiny bit of condition and boon control keeps me playing. It’s not my best just close to a purpose might switch to revenant or just go back to thief but I won’t put him on the shelf even if that happens.

Even though I’m currently hooked on playing GS zerk warrior and D/P teef… I still love my necro
Necromancer 4 lyfe <3
Necro was my first toon on GW2 and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Minions were fun, marks and wells awesome, love the corruption line and being able to convert boons into conditions. Partner up with mesmers and put a target on someone to fill him up with confusion. Then cast epidemic and watch 5 people melt. Wells and marks also make you a rich lich in WvW. I also love the Spectral Walk for doing hard jumping puzzles. It’s basically your reset button if you screw up. And it’s fun to /dance with the lich form over the corpses of your dead foes
Though I haven’t played my necro much mainly because I didn’t like his survivability. Once I engage in combat, it’s pretty much a commitment. Nowadays I main an engineer and I just love his versatility and ranged AOE spam. But every now and then I like to go back to my necro to try something different.
I could not tag quite so many targets in WvW without one; more I will not say in this thread.
Your topic title does not synergize at all with your statements. WvW =/= Game; necro’s lack a lot in spvp as well as in pve.

There is a lot I love about Necromancer, that’s why I have over 6,600 forum posts (and counting, dear god that’s a lot of time…). I won’t pretend like we’re the best strength wise, but I love our design. We have one of the coolest profession mechanics in the game that is a core part of our profession and is really fun to play with. Our design as an aggressive, manly profession is great, and I love the use of offense as a primary source of defense. I also think we have some of the best utility skills in the game, we have SO many builds that could be viable with just a few weapon additions that it is ridiculous, and completely unheard of in any other profession.
Necromancer D/W being the best multiple target sustain and burst damage in the game after 100B is news to me.
Unfortunately, the only unique thing about Necromancers is their ability to survive a fall from any height. No matter how heavily you spec in one thing, a different class will do it better.
thats why best team don’t have necromancers. it’s just one weakness for team. strongest team have warriors elementalists guardians engineers thiefs or maybe mesmer and there are a lot of people started to play ranger.
because that proffs done better than necromancer for conquest teamplay. necromancer have low sustain, no good self defense, low mobility, cant reset fight, and cant do any dps when focused. especially power necro that have to cast 1 sec cast time spells to do damage.
+they can dodge your damage easily. and can LoS your LB easily as they have good mobility so they move fast and easily to LoS.
just try get away and hope to survive some sec before you are in downstate.
good teams that play without necromancer have advantage because they made the other proffs better than necromancer for conquest teamplay. so yea if you can’t rely on your teammates than necromancer is a useless garbage and everyone know that.
So the question is there. Why the other proffs made to be able to outlast/=survive better on their own while also be able to do damage when focused and also doing like same damage as a not focused necromancer. I can’t see the balance.

First let me begin with saying that an Engineer was my first character but Necromancer was the profession with which I truly learned and explored the game. After I discovered Necro, everything about Engi suddenly became irrelevant and for the last… 500 days (and 2k hours) exactly today, I’ve been maining a Necro.
I love Necro because I love debuffing. I love Necro because I love being the walking death. I love Necro because life (force) from death.
I’ve given every profession an equal chance and nothing satisfies me as much as popping Corrupt Boon at just the right moment and turning someone’s defenses in to their own defeat. Or dropping a Spectral Wall against a corner and putting someone in time out forcing them to endlessly run in to the corner until the wall wears off. Or intentionally being passive versus a heavy condition build letting them pile conditions on me before transferring them all back and fearing them to ensure their death. Or frontlining a zerg with Plague, watching the bags roll in and dozens of people swinging at me and failing to bring me down because all dat sweet healf.
There are many, many reasons I love Necromancer but let me now say that this is all speaking from a WvW perspective, the one place we truly thrive.
For a while, my faith started to slip… I’ve done a good deal of PvP (rank 67) and primarily solo roam in WvW so I’ve had many, many fights. But one day, this Thief… Just changed everything in 20 short seconds by literally spamming Head Shot and interrupting everything. He completely shut me down and stopped me from doing a single thing until I was AA’d to death by him and it left me humbled. I had been having a rough week to begin with and I had to review my opinion on Necromancer and on myself as a player.
I still love Necromancer dearly but it isn’t without it’s flaws (and there are many of them). After that experience I started to drift on to my Warrior which has now gotten a significant amount of playtime under her belt but that’s not without still playing my Necro. It’s hands down my favorite profession and my very temporary (like maybe 3 days) hiatus from Necro after that experience only proved to strengthen my love but also to open my eyes ~
We are the weakest profession in every way imaginable but that only makes victory sweeter to achieve.
Sometimes I dislike all the woes we’re forced to deal with, others I’m glad no one can call me OP even if I totally annihilate them. At the end of the day it all comes down to one thing though… Necromancer is the profession with which I have the most fun. And after all, this is a video game where you’re meant to do just that, have fun (:

They can call you usually when you use lich. Now engineers totally counter it with all their defensive shields, healing and LoS. DPS guard today 2 hit rekt me in Lich form while he didn’t take any damage. Mesmer can moa so again total waste of elite. etc
In Guild Wars 1 I do have a Necromancer, but I never played her much. I mainly played a Mesmer over there.
In this game I chose an Asuran Necromancer here because I wanted something different. So far I’m greatly enjoying my little goth.

Lich marks are unblockable, use them on people blocking like engis, and watch a bunch of jagged horrors run after the engi, the dps guard just outplayed you, and moa seems like it’s a pretty good counter to lich and this game needs counters. Lich can’t just be an I win button.

I can say one positive thing, in Beta weekend 1 us necromancer was fun and great. After that i will not comment on since this is about positivity.
I can’t call a DPS guard that kills me in like 2sec with 30+ k hp while he also having very good defense. “he just outplayed you” man its so high instant dps i can’t see it take any skill just go in and faceroll -> profit.
It’s just an imbalance, total counter or it was a cheater.

Have you every played a guard, they don’t have 30k hp, you got outplayed, you should be able to kill a mediguard with lich, if it was a bunker guard even if you couldn’t kill him he shouldn’t be able to kill you in 2 seconds you can still dodge when lich. But that’s a fantastic attitude he’s either faceroll or cheating because you got outplayed…..

I was going to make a thread called I don’t care anymore but I’ll just post in yours. I have every class to 80 except Warrior. I’m tired of playing classes I don’t enjoy so someone else can play the ones they do, or to shave 5 minutes off a dungeon. I’m going back to maining my necro and unless HoT changes the class not to my liking then I will continue there as well.
I love this class and I’m good at playing it. It’s been said before that a good player trumps an average or bad player on a “meta” class. I agree with that 100%. I’m playing to have fun at the end of the day and this class does it for me.
If any of you want to add me I run a lot of fractals and would love to start doing more paths so hit me up.
confirmed
Question, can mesmers moa necros when they’re in lich form?
Yes they can. They counter Lich Form with Moa.
How can a thief kill necro? I yet need to see that.
I have serious problems killing good thiefs as a power necro. bad thiefs are easy mode. they have so many ways to avoid my damage while they killing me melee range. staff marks and dagger aa don’t kill a thief and i can’t cast vs good thief anyway. all thiefs are low skill if i able to cast and use Life Blast. Also they can catch you with 0 LF, thats a pain time. i cant really generate enough LF vs good thiefs.
Yay a positive post!! Its not a roll your face on the keyboard to win kind of class and thats whats so great about it. There is no mobility or evasion built in anywhere so positioning and dodge timing is more crucial. But its compensated by massive damage output, enough to put anyone on the ground (w/ buff stripping of course). Its a class that keeps your attention long after other classes will have bored you.
