Necro fixing status
And with strange aeons even death may die.

Necromancer is pretty balanced when compared to other classes.
If you look at this thread:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/balance/Vote-for-the-Profession-Collaborative-Development
You can see that necromancer pops up just as much as mesmer, ele, engineer and thief
The only class all agree on when it comes to imbalanced is the ranger.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
First of all thank you for your reply.
I can however tell you that we have discussed in the Necro forum about CDI topic, and came to the conclusion that what is seen as a “lack of participation” or “effective balance” is due to the fact that players who have a Necro or have stopped play or just have left the class considering it hopeless.
P.S. Mine is not an argument designed to make controversy, but to point out the problem and be able to discuss with other players.

Necromancer will never get fix, i have given up hope for this class.
necro’s are actually more powerful then ppl give it credit for, if anything it can survive situations that kills most other profs in seconds.
they are not broken, they are seriously underestimated.
The main problem is they are not friends with the current PvE meta. They are supposed to be balanced in PvE groupings by seriously crippling the opposition, but compared to might stacking, cleave, and the guardian/warrior/mesmer combo the tradeoff is just silly.
That and in PvE one of their dominant slices of pie (conditions) is technically flawed.

Anything that kills in seconds other classes can out play with their skills that prevent them from dying for those seconds. You could argue DS overall if used generically as a tanking utility soaks more damage than other classes can soak, and you would be right, but that is also made up for by our lack of extra dodges and vigor.
I don’t think the class is underestimated, I think it is possibly the most well understood class out there, because it has the least depth to play compared to what you can do with other class weapons and traits. We have rotations like everyone else, but the available build options are just very generic for necro…. really any arrangement of traits works “okay” while the current condition best build is too good (at least in small scale).
You could aruge we are overclocked on conditions, and right in line with power/defensive builds, which puts us well behind other classes such as warriors overclocked on several different builds. Bring them in line, and we can talk about what minor changes should happen to QOL and Power traits to make the class better overall.

Totally agree with this and couldn’t have said it better. I’d say the #1 thing they need to fix in PvE is a change across the board to how conditions work. Here’s hoping that one day I’ll be able to play a Conditionmancer and have him not suck.
Rangers were picked for the CDI because their class has issues across the board – the class itself is clunky. Eles are incredibly strong in pve and struggling in pvp – necros are fine in pvp but absolutely bottom tier in pve. When people talk about balancing or fixing necros its almost always in a pve context.
conditions and minions (also applies to ranger pets , mesmer illusions , engineer turrets) both suck in pve , the pet classes suffer the most as a boss will end up cleaving them with an insta death , while ranger can try to call their pet back it can be a very slim line even for them , as well as Necros not being able to call back their minions to avoid the aoe.
So besides the issues with conditions , pet builds suffer drasticly and are made useless in pve due to no avoidance system , and as much as they claim they want to be “different” from other mmos , this is not the type of different you EVER want to do. PvE Minions/pets all need that avoidance system put in to make the build remotely viable in pve.
but we will never see that and only keep getting thrown to the curb as the favored classes get all the attention , oh well we got TESO around the corner and from what ive seen online , GW2 is starting to suffer in regards to sales , no matter how you look at that thats not the best thing to do , and can take a good guess its due to this kitten poor way they treat class “balance” (i use the term loosely) that drives players away. Well theyve made their bed , so i guess they can sleep in it as well XD
but just expect this thread to get moved to the trash as well to silence any complaints even more since thats all they do rather then listen ;-)

Thats true. The class was advertised as an attrition, sustain class (at least from a pvp staindpoint), but Anet failed to achieve this goal. Build diversity or the lack off is a big problem across the board and our general role is non-existent. Also as you mentioned too, our viability in PvE is bad. Not only not optimal, bad, unviable, bottom tier etc.
We share the problems as every condi build in the game, every AI problem is matter to us, our class mechanic is weird and need to be look at and the balance should be move towards both gamemodes, not spvp only.
Every class has problems in some way, but necro is one of the most problematic ones.
ps: If the new CDI about fixing rangers ends well with good feedback from Anet and it will take effect in a reasonable time, we have hope. Until then … crossfingers brothers and sisters, that things wont broke even more.
ps2: bad english, sorry, blablabla

They moved in the Necro forum, the one where the staff don’t look ’cause are scared about the death…

How much aNet pays you to say this?
Bro, I play necro since gw2 release and I was dissapointed with necro few times.
Some stuff should be serioulsy fixed. If necro is not fixed then nerf all other classes.
Even if the class is balanced or not, it’s not a very fun, dynamic class to play.
Guild Wars 1 necro was a beast, with so many combinations. I know it’s a different game now, but it has the same name and it doesn’t do the original any justice, or even pay a lot of heritage.
Where did blood sacrifice go? What about orders? All the different kinds of boon removal? The “above 50% enemy health bonus” skills? And the rest of the concepts like Barbs/Insidious Parasite/Faintheartedness were thrown out with the “NO HEXES” rule. They seriously dumbed down the game with that rule.
Death Magic has fun concepts in GW1 that could be brought over, like Consume Corpse that would make automatically teleport and and heal you upon death if you are close enough to corpses. Healing and movement help.
I actually find Necro to be an extremely engaging/fun/dynamic class to play. Maybe blood sacrifice was dropped because it doesn’t fit very well in a game like this where you can’t compensate for a sudden drop in life with siphon pips. Maybe Consume Corpse is a fun flavor skill, but they didn’t want to just throw a bunch of trash at everyone and hope they find gems in the rubble.
You say that you know this is a different game, but you don’t seem to know that this is a different game. Sometimes games with the same name, like Starcraft → Starcraft 2, basically don’t change at all. Sometimes games with the same name are set in the same universe, run with the same genre, but try to innovate from the ground up to provide a better experience.
For every person you’ve heard voice discontent at GW2’s deviation from GW1, I bet you could find a person who thinks the game went in a much more fun and engaging direction, if only you looked.
I know what it’s like to have a game die when no other game replicates its particular style that you enjoyed so much. I know how nostalgia feels. It’s been a year and a half, or longer, since GW2 released, and continuing to feel bitterness that it isn’t GW1 isn’t doing anyone any favors.
Also, @OP: they probably deleted those DS lock-out bug threads because that bug is already in for being fixed in the next balance patch. And no, they can’t just tell everyone on a whim what fixes are in or not, because if they say anything before being absolutely certain that it’s getting fixed, backlash will be insane. Also, saying that something is on their radar is the best you could possibly ask for from a software development methodology. If you know nothing about software development, that’s fine, but you should recognize the fact that you know nothing and stop yourself from jumping to conclusions based on your emotional response to not getting what you want.

I work in a software house. We deal with programming for the insurance and banking reality.
I know how it works, there are times and deadlines.
And I live by deadlines.
I can also understand that they are not personally paid by us, that our complaints have no impact on the stock market and they can do somewhat what they want.
What I can tell you instead is that a thorough job to be not regressive on the changes previously made would lead to a decrease of discontent.
Visibility of the actual commitment convince users to not having to ask what happened to the reporting of six months before.
Use phrases like “it’s on our radar” is tantamount to throwing the carrot to the donkey.
Especially seeing the effort devoted to other profession that after reporting post they receive fixes, attention and constant feedback from the staff.
Have you ever seen someone of the staff actively engaged in this forum? (excluding of course “The cake is a lie” or the posts deleted because they deemed inappropriate).
Last time was on the thread Dec. 10th Balance Preview.
And for skill, reporting and other mechanics:
Maybe we don’t know how they’ll need to work or maybe the tooltip is not written as intended. For sure there are a lot of question about our profession, and maybe an help from someone of the staff will be much appreciated.
