Q:
As the title asks, and from what I’ve seen which I will go into, in this now supposed to happen? I found this purely by chance and have been searching everywhere for info on it so here’s what I’ve found. At level 40 I changed to a condition set and stuck 20 of my points into Blood for Vampiric Master. Now for whatever reason I had a power staff on, looked at my minion damage, realised what I did and swapped it for a condition staff with no power and noticed that the minions base attack and special attack had changed. Here’s the before and after damage wise with 0/0/10/20/0:
Base +50 power staff (only thing with power on it)
Blood Fiend: 18 Blood Fiend: 21
Bone Minions: 12 special: 119 Bone Minions: 14 special: 138
Shadow Fiend: 24 special: 36 Shadow Fiend: 28 special: 48
Bone Fiend: 48 special: 60 Bone Fiend: 56 special: 70
Flesh Golem: 48 special 89 Flesh Golem: 55 special 104
I tested this out in Lions Arch and would love to see if this carries over at level 80.
Edit: It also seems to work at 80 at least in wvw with the same staff and items.

You’re wrong, that’s simply all there is to say. Minion damage does not scale with your own power, toughness, vitality; the only thing that they scale with is minion-specific traits, and indirectly they scale with condition damage and duration (any conditions they inflict use your condition damage/duration).
Are you looking at the tooltips? Because those are wrong.
Edit: Yeah, you must be looking at tooltips. The tooltips currently list very false information about minion damage. At level 80, with almost no investment, the damage is listed as being sub 100 for each minion, when in reality they hit for 200+ at the weakest. Also it is showing scaling with power, which just isn’t accurate.

Only scaling is with Vampiric Master.
What you’re seeing is the Vampiric Master power scaling. The minions themselves don’t scale with your stats, but Vampiric Master does.
These answers are false, since when I changed Vampiric Master to Ritual Mastery, changed all my gear to power/precision and leveled to 41, the same staff test holds true.
Before +50 Staff (no VM): Flesh Golem: 81 Special: 153 After +50 staff (no VM) 89 Special 167. Not sure how far you guys tested, but I’m liking my MM more than yours lol. Going to ask that you retest.
Bhawb is the resident MM expert. We can both guarantee the only way to affect your minion damage through gear is through Vampiric Master.

It took us a while to get there Bhewb, but that’s all I was getting at. It was showing it. So what I was saying was right and other people were seeing it not just me, but in the long of the short of it, what I was seeing in game was wrong. Good times just getting a straight answer lmao.

If only that wonderful tooltip fix we just had a while ago actually worked… nah that’s crazy talk.
