Quickblade Vince – Thief
The Asurnator – Elementalist
Hello everyone,
My necro just got to 80 and I decided to gear him. I was wondering a couple of things.
First, is it possible to stack fear duration above 100%? For example 50% from Master of Terror, 30% from Spite and 40% from condition food? If so, what’s the maximum possible?
Secondly, what is the current strongest build for necros? I make my own builds but like to have a base from where to go to
Thanks
Every condition goes up to 100% duration, except bleeding for necro which can go up to 133% (cause of lingering curse)
Strongest build is a relative term, condi build doesnt do that much dps has incredible aoe though, zerker-glass cannon build has little aoe does great single dmg , Minion master is extra fun (for me at least:P), healing build has epic support potential. For pve though zerker (30/x/x/x/30) or 30/30/x/x/x is recommended.
It’s purely for WvW I’m planning to play my necro. Conditions still ahve high dps potential though, with the fear that hits like a truck. I’m just wondering about the other traits
hmm, good traits for wvw would be ritual of protection, staff mastery, greater marks, reaper protection traits from death magic trait line, master of terror+foot in the grave (soul reaping line), focused rituals, chilling darkness, terror (curses trait line), close to death/dhuumfire, spiteful marks and spiteful removal (power trait line). There are also traits that give retaliation through ds/healing which i find useful, like spiteful vigor and spiteful spirit.
Also about wvw, staff is a must imo, and if you prefer running with zerg wells + focused rituals are probably the best way to go. Minions suck, at least till october :P

Not Bleeding. Only the bleeding, poison, and cripple caused by Scepter 1 and 2.
But yes, Lingering Curse is the only way in the game to break the +100% condition duration cap.

And it’s not +33% (wrong tooltip) but 40%, which modifies the base durations.
So combined with 100% cond duration, Lingering Curse pushes the scepter’s conditions to +180%.
Consider playing a modified version of Nemesis hybrid build if you’re going to be doing a lot of wvw. 30/25/0/0/15 (15 in soul reaping is for spectral armor)
The con is not having terribly high toughness for wvw
The main pro is versatility. Condis are pretty powerful in wvw but you will always get someone who cleanses like crazy or a melandru rune/lemongrass poultry soup player who condis are useless against. It’s great to have a hard hitting ds1 and axe 2 for those cases. Plus, running hybrid always makes me feel like I am getting the most out of all my DS skills
