Necro vs war
No viable stability, no mobility, good luck vs hammer warriors with berserker stances (if you condi) or endure pain / block (if you are power necro)
Unless you invest 30 in SR for 3 sec stability on DS.
Ive been fighting alot of wars lately in wvw and they just stomp me i cant get enough damage they always have that regen sigt on or they are jst to tanky(hammer war). The inly war i could beat was great sword long bow any vids or tips?
You might get somewhere with Plague and chilling darkness, once every 3 mins, otherwise I’d try to avoid them or you’ll need to outplay them.
1v1 most of them are pretty schematic and if you manage to survive berserker stance you should be able to kill them.

Im a power necro ad i use to run 3 breakers, spec armor WOP andplague but ive been tryjng to rely less on those so icurrently run WOD spec armor and eithe spectral grasp/spectral walk. Hammers with that regen signet is op as fk. I dueled one like three times didnt even get him past half. To much cc. Im tryin to post over on war forums to see if its jst a l2p issue but i think im decent compared to others. I think its maybe i jst dont have the dps to kill one even tho i have 51% crit and around 3.2k-3.5k attck
For condition necros it is only a matter of surviving berzerker stance. For power necros it is more difficult but even as poweer necro if berzerker stance is over you should be able to kite a warrior until the next berzerker stance if you have some condition duration. And never go melee against a warrior unless you know you can finish him off.
Plague is a bad elite for 1v1s (i dont want to say that plague is bad but for 1v1 we have better elite skills). It will only delay the end for a few seconds using the golem or lich is always the better choice. Infact with lich you should be able to pop every profession if they dont disengage (which most decent players will do).
Quick tip: Regardless of spec, traited Warhorn is amazing CC/ Kite ability.

They are a very difficult class to fight, but the key to beating them is crowd control. They have a lot of counters to it, but if you can keep then at a distance you should be able to burn them to about half hp and burst them with a fear chain.
These fights will only be short if they are bad, just remember they have no burst healing unless they put healing signet on cooldown. You just need to whittle them down while staying at a comfortably safe distance.
This is from a conditionmancer perspective, havent had many recent power spec 1v1s against warriors.
I find a 1 vs 1 against hammer warriors quite entertaining and mostly win (most wvw warriors are BAD) if you time your dodges and skills right it gets easier. you will have to apply CC from flesh golem/ spectral grasp if they have zerker stance on to buy your self some time and kiting potential. if they also use stability with it then just keep running around knowing if you survive that the fight will shift in your favor. they take a bit of work to take down but it should not be a big problem with practice. the fight is naturally against you but it is not impposible. again practice makes it go a bit easier and playing a warrior makes reading their animations even easier for you to time dodges. I even managed to kill a few hammer warriors on my up leveled engineer in wvw.
I personally find LB/GS warriors to be a bigger challenge

use spectal walk and felshworm to keep distance while the warrior has zerker stance on. After zerker stance kite the hell out of them. Hammer is only useful in melee and the gap closer on hamer are rather bad. For the bow it is important to transfer burn back to them if the stack is to high.
I play a balanced dagger build and I find warriors rather easy. I just keep pressure on them, dodge/break their stuns with spectral armor, or just sit in DS if I have to. My damage is high enough to wear through their signet most of the time. I also make sure to try and keep weakness on them, and also use dagger #4 to transfer burns/roots back onto them.
1v1or2: Personally, on my condition necro, I just kite and keep on the conditions. Apply conditions with weapon skills first, let them burn condition removals if they have them, then hit them with plague signet and pile on the bleeds. Do not get in melee range.
Group: Attack from the back, let them use their cc on someone else. Drop marks, fear them off if they get too close. If they have stability, strip it if you can. Don’t do anything too obviously necro-ish in the first few moments, like DS and #4,5. Everyone will see it, and know you are a necro that’s probably in trouble as soon as DS goes down. People will often target necros early, particularly if they still have cc to use, because we have so little access to stability.
The only other thing I can recommend is to play a warrior. You’ll get used to how they telegraph their moves, what the natural rotation is, and know how to best counter it.

Granted these are not the best warriors in the game but these are common in wvw
no scrub builds needed

ive tried to doom people while in blurred frenzy but i think they have to walk in to it i put t right on them and it usually doesn work
Around 40 seconds into this video
This was the only time I’ve tried a necro zerker build but I had no problem with wars. I’ve since learned how to play and switched over to Condi Necro and I honestly can’t remember the last time I’ve lost a 1v1 against a war with a condi Necro.
You can just scepter auto and kill 90% of the warriors out there.

Warriors are an aggressive class. You basically want to hinder his offense as much as possible and whittle him down to win. I’ll list some tactical overviews to fighting a warrior.
non build specific-
1.building life force is your top priority. You can enter Death shroud and cast doom both while CC’d, which gives you an immediate defensive option.
2. Set a mark of fear early on in the battle (assuming you use a staff). If the warrior is trying to rush you with melee, simply put it under your own feet. If they try to get you at a range, put it between yourself and him and lead him into it.
3. Maintain any sort of movement impairing condition. I personally have access to a lot of chill and cripple as a minion master, so i can hamper movement very easily.
4. boon removal will let you take away his might, fury, swiftness, and all his other aggressive boons.
build specific:
minion master:
1. maintain cripple and chill as much as possible. This should allow your minions to get in on the warrior.
2. All minion actives are instant cast except for the flesh golem charge. This means you can use them re-actively in any situation even when CC’d which makes them great defensive tools.
-Your bone minions provide weakness (with death nova) and high damage burst to ward them off.
-Shadow fiend’s aoe blind is great if the warrior is trying to melee you.
-The bone fiend’s rigor mortis is great if you wanna kite the enemy, escape, or hold them still.
-The flesh wurm is a given, it breaks CC and even gives a good chunk of life force.
-The flesh golem’s charge can provide great follow up CC to chill or immobilization.
wells-
1. Honestly, all the wells are defensive options. Just keep an eye on what the warrior plays like and try to figure out which one you want to use. The safest bets on wells though are:
-Darkness- good for stopping any sort of melee damage (hundred blades, whirlwind slash, ect).
-Power-converts any sort of condition the warrior puts on you into a boon, great if you get CC’d a lot.
-corruption- converting his boons into conditions can turn burst into fizzle. This is most effective against warriors who spam shouts or those who just activated their signet of rage.
-conditions-
1. maintain your conditions and distance. Especially poison, weakness, and cripple.
2. Don’t use your full condition “burst” until you’ve made the warrior use a cleanse.
3. Use staff marks defensively. The staff has very good options to protect yourself. (transfering all your conditions to the warrior, chilling the warrior, fearing the warrior).
-blood (signets?)-
1. Signet of spite gives you a good option to cripple a warrior who’s about to activate their burst, especially their adrenaline skill.
2. If you’re using transfusion, activate it as your life force is about to run out (<5%). As long as you don’t leave death shroud manually, It won’t stop the channel. Transfusion recovers your own HP if you’re outside of death shroud.
-spectral-
1. Spectral armor should be used if you’re about to eat burst. Save it for when you know you won’t be able to avoid the damage.
2. Spectral walk is good for disjointing. If you see a warrior charging you with bull’s rush or something, activate Spectral walk and try to create distance before the hit. You can activate it again to make the warrior’s skills go to waste.
3. Spectral grasp- While I wouldn’t use this against a warrior personally, it’s good if they try to escape or you desperately need life force.

CC warrior are the hard counter to necro as much as Mesmer are the hard counter to warriors.
It just boring when your counter is one of the class with the highest number BUT on the bright side you see less hammer warrior lately.
It’s a MMO things change monthly. Just don’t get discouraged.
Guys, come on….
Necros counter warriors hard, any necro should beat most warrior build, specifically Hammer builds.
As long as you have Corrupt Boon you’re good to go vs them, remove their stab and swiftness and they’re dead.
well of darkness + corrupt boon (extrafear when he pulls stability, and he will) and the fight is pretty much one sided, just kite him. If he gets too close → well of darkness. Signet of spite comes in handy too.
If the warrior stays in your well, he already deserves to be dead.
Berserker stance still makes kite work hard and damage too if you run condi. 8 seconds of condi immunity is not short. Meanwhile the warrior regenerates due to Healing signet of course …

It just happens to be there are a lot of bad warriors (I certainly am when I try to play one), but they really do have the tools to deal with a necro moreso than most other classes. Zerker stance not only gives the immunity, but if they pop it into the fight instead of at the start, they can use their burst skills to remove conditions easily 2-3 times, and have another ready to use after the stance wears off.
Not to mention stances can last longer and give vigor. It is a very hard 8-10 seconds to survive against a glass warrior, and depending on build, the next 5-10 seconds can be just as bad. If you make it through all that they are generally toast, but then again, if they know what they are doing you won’t.
There are just quite a few awful warriors out there, and necro really is a very hard fight to take 1v1 if you don’t use your cooldowns properly (on any class). As long as the necro doesn’t just blow cooldowns into the zerker stance, the warrior would have to play very well if they walked into a fight with a full lifeforce bar necro.
It’s really just GG vs a warrior. If you can kite them for the 4/8 seconds of endure pain/berserkers stance, you might be okay.

Hahaha that warrior must have been mad.. like OMG MY FACEROLL DOESN’T WORK?!
I play a tanky buikd with decent damage off my axe. Switch ti scepter to weaken the regen or use poisen cloud. If u wanna kite wurm is.perfict
As many have stated you just have to wait until zerker stance is over and done with a carry corrupt boon that’s it really. I have gotten beat by a few hammer warriors but I usually come out on top in most of my fights. I just see em pop zerker stance and move away from them avoiding their hammer abilities as best as I can they are easily telegraphed and then just turn around and condition dump em and use your fear chains. The only warriors I’ve fought that beat me where the ones who disengaged on me at the right time to essentially waste my DS and then come back when I had little DS left, btw if you engage a warrior make sure you have full DS obviously.

Wail of Doom is unblockable, not uninvulnerable as far as I know.
Can’t block it, but you can invuln it.
