Just had an idea that seems like it could work really well. Everyone says minions are too squishy and have long cooldowns, plus our well skills are easy to avoid in pvp and our condition skills have long cooldowns keeping us from being effective…

So why not just use our life force? In the same way thieves use initiative for their weapon skills, why don’t we use accumulated life force for our utility skills? This way we can call back our minions more often and keep wells and conditions coming as long as we have a steady supply of life force.
Some things would have to be changed of course, like the amount of life force gaining skills and strength of our utility skills in general to keep us from spamming and dominating too easily. Death shroud could still be an option but it could be made more powerful because you’re taking away your ability to use utility skills.

put it in the suggestions thread, devs aren’t allowed to visit here. I don’t like it. It makes us another thief clone. It also means I can’t drop wells and use DS4 at the same time.

hell, I’d be happy if they removed death shroud and gave us 4 skills that cost life force:
1. summon jagged horror: costs 10% life force (same cap of 5) no cooldown
2. life blast: same skill 10% life force
3.dark path: 25% life force, grants a temporary health shield on top of it’s original effect
4. Doom: AOE 2 second fear from self that costs all life force. (minimum of 50% life force required and has a 60 second cooldown)
Then a lot of the traits for DS could be changed around in a way that actually benefits other specs. As of right now DS only has a meager synergy with other specs (transfusion for MM, dark path bleed for conditions, might for power). Even the spectral skills designed to work with DS can’t be used with it, only when DS is down.

If life force was turned into a recourse and DS totally removed in place for these abilities, necromancers as a whole would be better.

I would actually like an ability that consumes 50% or even 100% of life force to revive dead, not downed players in an area.

As a master of death, who is absorbing the souls or death energy from enemies, I should be able to manipulate death to my will! It would bring something unique to necros as now every class can only rez downed players (I think, after the recent nerf on Ele’s)
