Hi,

I’ve run across a lot of builds on youtube and several other sites. The consensus seems to be dagger/focus is the best. I was wondering what other people’s thoughts on this are as well as what casting rotation do you typically use for a mob? What do you do when you have adds?

If you have another build suggestion or even advice for me about this one, please be very specific if possible. I run into so many “leveling builds” that for some reason magically start at high levels and people roll right into what elite skill to have and where to put 20 freaking traits that I don’t have. I’m really tired of seeing that kinda thing.

I’m new to GW2 and to this class as well so those videos are trash, and really don’t help the new player.

Humbly asking for casting rotation, build affirmation, or even a new build suggestion with INITIAL trait distribution as well as utility skills within the low level range of 1-20.

Thanks!

I’ll watch a 10 minute video of some guy with a still image talking about his traits I guess. Thanks.

Hey there,
Unfortunately it will be more difficult to find exactly what you’er looking for because it fores not matter to much at the lower levels. But I will try and offer some insight…

I personally enjoyed leveling with minions. It takes some getting used to though. I would invest in death magic if you decide to try that. Being on my phone makes it difficult to find traits but you could select ones that buff your pet. Also, use a staff. your number 2 will help keep you and your pets alive.

If pets are not your thing, try out a condition build. points in curses. Get a scepter/dagger with consume condition for your heal – blood is power and epidemic for utility, the 3rd is situational. Use 2>5>BiP>4> epidemic. Your scepter attacks also put conditions.

Unfortunately I don’t have much to add to a power build other than using a dagger/dagger or dagger/something. Dagger scales with power well. In a power build I would take a well. They are on a longer cooldown but can chang the battle daily.

I hope that helps you some

If you wanna lay DoT’s (conditions) and use minions a Staff/Scepter + dagger build is what you want.

If you want to get in peoples faces and have a power build i’d suggest Staff/Dagger + Dagger

Offhand daggers is nice because it gives extra conditions which meshes nicely with your staff, also it has a blind (makes your opponent miss) Focus has the nice heal but takes wayyyyyyyy to long to recharge. Dagger recharges faster so meh. Its your choice though.

So Starting off a fight start with staff lay down your marks then switch to your D/D use Dagger 3 to lock them then Dagger 5 put down your conditions, and then auto attack basically. Switch back and forth at will. Staff is better for kiting when your hp gets low. If you get in trouble then enter deathshroud to buy time for skills to recharge.

This is a build I made if your interested

I’m a recent new Necro, level 30 so far, using an AOE condition build.

Scepter/Dagger primary, Staff secondary. Consume Conditions, Epidemic, Blood Is Power, and the run speed signet.

The idea is to stack conditions (mostly bleeding, via Blood Is Power and scepter autoattacks) on the toughest enemy in a group, and spread them to weaker enemies with Epidemic. Other skills supplement your AOE or punish enemies for conditions on themselves or on you. I’ve found it very survivable — comparable to or maybe better than Guardian.

For traits, I’m going 30 Curses (lots of bleeding-enhancing stuff plus precision + condition) and at least 20 Blood Magic (siphoning on crits, vitality + healing).
