The necromancer right now has some problems with the minions, there’s not an UI to tell them where and what to do, they die easily in dungeons and in larger scale battles. If you level up and do soloing content they are fine.

Either make it like in GW1 except you don’t need a corpse nearby, with a shorter cooldown to summon them more often (still cooldown on their skills) and make them immune to all damage but they degenerate health each second.

- Minions degenerate X health each second until they die.
- Minions can be summoned X seconds after death.
- Minios have a UI to control them.
Press F1 to sacrifice them, killing them instantly. Gain X Life Force, for each sacrificed.
Press F2 to make them stay still.
Press F3 to fuse them into one, dies after X seconds.

This would make it alot easier, make the Minion Master more viable and useful and more fun and interesting to play.

So first we all want ranger skills with Minions, now you want mesmer skills with minions? Let’s just make it so when we roll a new jagged horror appears but it looks like us and we can disappear and then reappear. Ooo, or just change elite minion into the ability to change an opponent into the Flesh Golem.

All of your ideas are overboard, mesmer mixed with Jagged horrors. Not taking any damage? ARe you serious? Do you realize how crazy that would be burst wise? You would wreck any bunker and pvp would be a joke. Why don’t you just roll a mesmer?

When are we going to stop treating Minions like they are a core ability? Death shroud is our core ability. Small changes are all that are needed we don’t need things that change the UI or the ability to control them.

All that is needed is that they attack who I attack when I attack them. That’s it.

That will be more than enough. Honestly , I feel very powerful and immortal when my minions just attack what I attack .

Good job bud. Granted immune to damage sounds so ….. kitten its funny.
I miss the days when skeletons didn’t bleed…. when zombies didn’t care about poison. Where wraith-like creatures didn’t care much about getting stabbed.
Instead… all I got is this, streamlined with fat 10 year old closet dwellers in mind, nonsense. One look at the minions and what they do… reminds me Diablo 3 “cow level”… needs more ponies and happy flowers though.

usually i’m pretty good with context clues but i really have no idea where you are comming from…his post is correct in saying that our mechanic is ds not minions? i do agree about the skelly/zombie point though. Back in a game called Darkness Falls the Crusade i played a skelly character and not being able to be bled or poisoned was pretty awesome…but that was a loooong time ago.

I dislike the OP’s suggestion for the same reason why I’m not super thrilled about Jagged Horrors: It tries to force players to be Minion Masters. Not every necro player wants to babysit minions. Would I like a buff to Minion AI so that the boards quit getting spammed with that complaint? You betcha! Do I want to ever use Minions. Not really.

And I’m glad we could have another user who is more than happy to demonstrate mob mentality and fallacious debate strategies by attacking the person. But I’m amused by HiSaZuL’s post so lets break it down to see how angry this guy is when somebody doesn’t agree with him.

I actually avoid Dagger, and run Axes, but that’s because I am a double kitten mew! Just as a footnote, I also do sPvP and tPVP as Minionmancer to great effect. I have been requested to join several pvp only guilds, but I pve too much to be a regular.

From my experience, this is true. Minions are utterly uncontrollable and, while I don’t believe that they should regain life like a Ranger’s pet (I want my Mark of Blood to reliably heal them), I firmly believe that Necromancers should be able to control them like a Ranger’s pet. This isn’t something that I see as incredibly difficult, though it would make the Necromancer a more complex animal.

One way to address this is to bind the F2-F6 keys to the minions that would be in the 6-0 keys. This is because, at most, we can have 5 minion skills and they can correspond easily. A simple three-button scheme of attack, follow and passive attached and just above each key on-screen is the only other thing that is needed for minion control. Unfortunately, this would make controlling individual minions difficult as more minions are in play.

Another way to address this is for the F2-F4 keys to control all available minions en masse, using the standard attack, follow, passive structure we’re familiar with. This would be a significantly easier way to implement minion control, both for Anet and for the players.

I’m sure there is a middle ground in there somewhere but, as it stands, Necromancer pets are marginally useful because Necromaners simply cannot bank on minions doing anything useful beyond those second skill activations.

For example, sometimes I have watched my minions split to both sides of the road in Wayfarer Hills when going down to road with the Svanir ballistas and they do this without any real rhyme or reason. The key word here is ‘sometimes.’ There seems to be no sensible AI guiding when and what minions do. Sometimes they do absolutely nothing and follow me, sometimes they split, sometimes they just attack one of the ballistas, there’s never a way to tell.

Similar issues are present out in the open world. Sometimes my minions will not attack something that is attacking me if I haven’t attacked it first and sometimes my minions will attack it immediately.

Ultimately, Minion Master Necromancers are not interesting because minions simply do not work in a reliable way. Minions are more of a liability than anything else to Necromancers and their unutilised potential is very unfortunate. There is no way for a Necromancer to be a true master of minions if he cannot control them in any reasonable way.
