THIS is what I’ve always wanted.

Perhaps I’m not a huge fan of the skimpy fishnets but if they ever decide to make a male counterpart I’ll be leaving GW2 XD.

I enjoy this game. I have always seen the potential.. and I guess that “potential” was just creative differences.

Anet dev team continues to constrict all necromancer-type builds and specs into a sluggish, easily countered, non-active-defense-having punching bag who’s unable to 1v1 and only good for ambient damage.

I understand and agree with traditional forms of a magic-user and am happy with how they’ve implemented that in the baseline necro but have always felt a bit unhappy with reaper and how it could have been. I think reaper could have really been something awesome.

The Dark Knight in black desert really shows how it is possible.

Replace reaper with awakened sorceress.

I watched a few gameplay videos of it and I’m not impressed. It doesn’t play a thing like the Necromancer and sure doesn’t look like it would satisfy the same itch. That’s just me, though.

I gotta admit, while reaper feels good animation and skill-wise, it’s not amazing to play. I wanted to try out the BDO version of the “dark knight magic / greatsword combo”, but sadly was blocked by my dvorak keyboard and trying to keybind. :/

I’ve played BDO and it’s just not appealing to me… Everyone praises the combat but I just find it to be a shallow button mash game. You roll your face across the keyboard and get rewarded with thousands of sword slashy sounds, glowy energy blade trails, fire, etc. And the constant anime girl “HHHYAH” is annoying.

Thats the only thing the game got going for it, the combat.
For the rest is just an endless grind, enchant and no end-game content.
Atleast back when I still played it, the end game was just lvling since there was no cap.

Generic Korea grinder as usual with screaming anime girl kitten and fancy effects. The fact you can’t even choose races/gender/class freely is dull as well.

yeah i prefer more natural assets and not full korean anime grind with over-sexualized women. the only thing i would take from them are some hardcore high-heels

GW2’s necromancer may not be satisfying but it does have some ties with the idea of what it is to be a necromancer. I know that the minion master don’t feel like a one man army but at least it try. I know that the GW2’s necromancer is a bit pityable when it come to weakening it’s foes… But at least it try.The necromancer in GW2 have a design that have it’s root in how wwe picture a Necromancer at least.

I can’t answer your question, but I can speculate: I, personally, like the “lich king” sort of necromancer thing. Heavy armor, greatsword, dark magic, poison, undead minions, life draining, that sort of thing.

Necromancer without reaper is much less interesting to me, in terms of “style”, than with it. I’m very glad that GS was improved for condition necro, because it means that I get good damage along with the style I like.

In that vein the Dark Knight in BDO, the Death Knight in WoW, and so on, are things I try out to see if they work for me mechanically, since I generally like the style — and, y’know, if it’s an MMO I’m gonna be seeing that style quite a bit, y’know?

(I didn’t really try it out because of keymapping problems, but they porny moans while I was stunned at the very start of BDO trying to do those settings changes really didn’t make me think I was gonna actually enjoy it.)
