Necromancer Skills Getting Categories
This is something I called for a long time ago for all classes, and I’m glad to see happening. For Necromancer, I think a lot of them are fairly clear as to what they’ll be.
Heals:
- Consume Conditions (Corruption)
- Well of Blood (Well)
- Signet of Vampirism (Signet)
- Blood Fiend (Minion)
Elites:
- Plague (Corruption)
- Lich Form (Spectral)
- Corpse Golem (Minion)
I think Spectral Attunement Lich Form would be super exciting. Back to 30 seconds!
So… if Lich form now will be spectral instead of transformation maybe we will be able to use our utilities?
No, this is simply tagging a category on every skill, not a change in functionality.

I thought we already had that though? We have traits already that benefit small groups of skills.
Spectral attunement specifically benefits all “spectral” skills.
Master of corruption benefits all “corruption” skills.
Yes but consume conditions isnt tagged as any type of skill currently. Same with plague form and lich form. The change is to give them a tag so they can be effected by those traits in addition to utility skills.
Did I read correctly that skill points will be exchanged for crafting materials? Will I be able to consume them for elite specializations?
I think Plague and Lich Form already have tags, that is Transformation.
But I am really looking forward to Consume Conditions becoming either a Spectral (doubtful) or a Corruption (likely). It’s definitely not a minion, well, or signet (which we already have as healing skills).
There should be some cross-professions skills, too, like racial and event (Anti-toxin Spray). Maybe Consume Conditions will be an “Other”.

Make it a corruption, Plague should be a well.

Actually yeah, they might just keep the “transform” tag.
I have always thought we needed an elite skill that was not associated with minions or a transform, because both transforms lock us out of healing and utility skills, and limit our utility in some circumstances. I won’t even go into the flesh golem, as it is clear that AI is out to lunch, and not dependable.
New spec will have a new elite. Doesnt help the base class though so meh.

Now, if only DS could be classified in the same group as Moa…
So, with the changes every single skill will have a “type” associated with it. Meaning Consume Conditions, Lich Form, and Plague Form will all be assigned a type, which also introduces possibility for trait interactions, which could be huge. 20% CDR brings CC to 20s CD, and it removes 36s from Lich/Plague.
I would think they’d increase the CD on Consume Conditions if it is affected by a CD reduction trait. Its’ already one of the best heals ingame as it is.
That wouldnt make sense. Nerf it for everyone that isnt using the trait? Besides its really not as good as people think. For pure healing its pretty weak considering the necros health pool. But obviously its condi cleanse is really strong.
Our other heals are just flat out bad. Which is why consume conditions seems so good in comparison.

So they just confirmed that transforms are not a “true” category. Tornado transform for Ele is (currently) a cantrip.

They balance based on optimum circumstances. Shouldn’t that mean that is the way Consume Conditions is balanced now? If so, wouldn’t they then increase the CD so that anyone with the trait would be using it at its’ optimum state? There are a lot of underpowered skills that only become ok with the use of traits, might Consume Conditions become one of them due to being categorized and having traits apply to them?
They’ve also talked about addressing stuff like that, so I wouldn’t count on it.
