most Necromancer weapons are still underperforming.. looking at other skills from other classes (throw torch from guard for example) its just a joke. I made a list with changes I’d like to see. Just for making the necro viable in PVP, I dont want to make it OP

staff #1: add poison for 5sec and better power scaling, make it generate 5% Lifeforce on hit so landing it twice lets you enter DS. maybe 100% projectile finisher?

staff #2: restore to 3 stacks of bleed

axe #1: needs another dmg increase

axe#2: possible whirlfinisher or missile block from front

axe #3: blast finisher!

focus #4: adjust pathing&bouncing to be similar mirrorblade, reduce cooldown to somewhat like 10s (to match axe better and looking at mirrorblades cooldown 16s on focus#4 is kinda funny), add a useful offensive boon like fury instead of regen

focus #5: reduce cast time by half

scepter #1: AA still not good enough.. could use a 2nd blood stack on the 2nd part of the auto chain and maybe an attack speed increase

scepter #2 and #3 should get a cooldown reduction to 6 and 8 seconds to make them usable twice until swapping weapons or going back to DS

dagger#2: reduce cast time, it takes to much time until siphon starts,

dagger#3: reduce cast time

dagger #4: maybe adding some LF gain because both other offhands provide LF (at least in theorie), maybe faster projectile speed

dagger #5: the time until the attack hits needs a huge decrease because its almost impossible to land in pvp. maybe 3 bleeding stacks instead of 2 and a blast finisher?

DS#1: add projectile finisher (20% or 100%)

DS#2: increase projectile velocity or make it instant cast. maybe leap finisher

In general it’s k, I don’t like 100% finishers on AA though.
And for dagger 5 i would like something like blind instead of more bleeds + blast finisher. It fits theme of the skill.

I am in love with the kodan hammer skills on necromancer. Give me that skillet please. It’s a perfect chill necromancer spec.

As for existing weapons?

Focus needs love. It’s in bad shape and anet has decided to increase the range (which is meaningless) rather than fix the skills in the past. The weapon is balanced for a different game than Guild wars 2.

Axe needs more damage.
Scepter needs to scale with some stat.
Staff needs 100% finisher on axe one.
Offhand dagger could use life force application.

There should probably be slow application somewhere (I suggest to put it on lingering curses)

There should be a blast finisher somewhere on a weapon (axe 3 is te best place to put it).

Chill durations are all 1-2 seconds too short.

Greatsword damage may still be too low. The weapon is a melee glass cannon. It shoud hit like one.

I have always hated Piercing. Make staff #1 explode on impact and increase velocity (putting it in line with Fireball).

100% finisher chance on an AA isn’t going to happen & I’d say ask for either poison on it or better power scaling it probably won’t be able to get both. 1% more life force seems reasonable.

Quite reasonable and overdue imo.

I’m more inclined to say that #1 is fine, only thing I would change is make the vuln slightly longer. It’s #2 that needs more damage.

axe #3: blast finisher!

Not sure such a feature heavy skill needs more features but it’s something a lot of people want and I wouldn’t be opposed to it. It would also make Spiteful Spirit more appealing as well.

focus #4: adjust pathing&bouncing to be similar mirrorblade, reduce cooldown to somewhat like 10s (to match axe better and looking at mirrorblades cooldown 16s on focus#4 is kinda funny)

Both focus and Dagger #4 should have faster projectiles, so that sounds fine. Not sure about cooldowns, I wouldn’t be opposed to a shorter cooldown but I think I would more prefer the regen be replaced with a more useful boon like fury.

I can certainly agree with this, a shorter cast time would do wonders for the focus.

Offhand Dagger does need some LF generation it’s true, not sure if this or #5 should have it though. It could also use the QoL change of a faster projectile (as I mentioned above) to make its use as a condition transfer more reliable at range.

It is a bit on the sluggish side and one extra bleeding probably wouldn’t be unreasonable.

Hmm, let’s go down the line.

Staff: It’s fine as-is. It’s a long-range utility weapon with some mixed damage.

Scepter: Might need a bit more duration on the Torment stacks. Might need a bit more LF generation. Too early to tell.

Axe: Might need a bit more damage on 2. Might need a bit of cleave (2 targets per hit) on 1 and 2. Trait should be moved so it doesn’t compete with Chill of Death. Otherwise, too early to tell.

Dagger: 2 should drop to a 1/4 cast time to start the siphoning (which should take the same amount of time but continue independently). Alternately, 2’s cast time and aftercast could be reduced while keeping the same total damage and healing. 3 should drop to a 3/4 casting time.

Focus: 4 should prioritize the initial target for bounces, and allied bounces should apply a bit of direct healing. 5 should have a 3/4 or 1/2 cast time.

Warhorn: Trait should be moved so it doesn’t compete with Vampiric Presence.

I main Ele and Necro, though I have an alt of each profession at level 80.

Okay, let’s do this. Been a while since I did.

Death Shroud:
Projectile finisher on life blast. Much faster projectile on Dark Path, and give it a leap finisher.

Axe:
Auto attack needs a good animation. Ghastly Claws gets a whirl finisher. Unholy Feast gets a blast finisher.

Focus:
Shorter cast time on both skills, but especially on Spinal Shivers.

Warhorn:
Wail of Doom gets a blast finisher.

Dagger:
Enfeeble could get a blast finisher.

Staff:
Increasing the chance of a projectile finisher from the auto attack would be nice. Add some additional condi to Mark of Blood.

It’s mainly finishers I’ve added in. Some might possibly argue it’s too much… but currently necro is pretty starved of finishers, and having those extra finishers will add some more utility to our class and additional depth to how we can play.

I’m reserving judgement on scepter until I get more time to playtest the current iteration.

I’ve been playing scepter a lot recently, pre and post-patch and it is still relying on the AA since #2 and #3 both are still on a 10s cd.. and the AA ist way too weak to justify that.

My additions to it. Or alterations to this.

DS#1 is so slow it needs to be 100%, it’s lower than Earth 1 on ele staff. And that’s 100%. However, I would prefer lower the casttime slightly and the damage So the dps stays the same but at least you can use it for damage both in Condi and Power. Without it being so slow that even if you manged to cast 1, you will probably miss it cause it is so slow and so slow moving, it’s only due to luck or opponents incompetence that they couldn’t dodge it or block it. Or blind you, or interupt you. Or something else.

DS#2. I prefer instant instead, cause then it gives Necro slightly more positional mobility vs several foes, which makes DS a lot more interesting when compared to RS. And since it is still pretty slow. It can still be dodged and won’t act like a shadowstep compared to thief.

Staff #4. It’s a blast finisher that can almost never be used when you actually need a blast finisher.
