Necromancer WvW tank build
Pure sentinel gear for a necro tank is certainly a cool approach.
However, there are a few things that seem strange to me. Before I comment on all of them, are you planning to go solo with this build, small groups or zergs? Or all three of them?
I use to run a Tank build,it was fun to play.I could just stand there and laugh at Thief’s but the DMG was just ok and took to long to kill anyone.
Stats were
32k HP
3k Power
2200 Toughness.
Then Celestial armor came out, along with the changes to DS.I made the change and a new build to fit the stats.I can still Tank like before in DS but now can do crazy DMG.It’s funny when a Thief pops out now,I fear him then 2 shot him.
Stats are Unbuffed — Buffed
25600 HP
2106 Power — 2631 Power
1500 Toughness
100% Crit DMG
40% crit
560 Condi DMG -- 1083 Condi DMG
660 Healing

Oh my! Your stats for your revised setup look pretty sexy do you mind sharing?
Sinnastor{Warrior}Sinnacle{Mesmer}Sintacs
{Thief}
I’m full Celestial, but one accessory and back. The build changes day to day,the two I use the most is 10/10/0/20/30 or 20/20/0/0/30(terror/DS build).
Weapons I use are Axe/Dagger and Staff or D/D and Staff.

Do you run PvT armor?
Sinnastor{Warrior}Sinnacle{Mesmer}Sintacs

The only PvT I have on is the Accessory.the back is Power,Toughness,Crit DMG.I would cnage the back, but there isn’t a Celestial one.

what slot skills do u run with?
and that does look like a nice build
what do u thing about my build tho is it a good tanky build or not? and should i change my slot skills, i want to perfect this before i run with it XD
Well, I would go one of two ways with your build.. Either you can try to make it a little more DS oriented, focusing on gaining lifeforce quickly and having a beefy deathshroud to help keep you alive… or you can just be a tank, in which case I would change a few traits in order to maximize your efficiency.
30 in Blood can work and there are some good traits there, but I would recommend only going 25 deep, that way you can go 25 into Death for the awesome minor trait that converts toughness into power(you have a lot of toughness). The last 20 points I would put into Spite, since you are focusing on power but have low crit chance. You can boost Axe damage there, or focus cooldowns.
You wont do a lot of damage, but between dagger auto attack, and well timed wells… you can kill zerker dps pretty fast, and outlast others.

Your build looks fine, but your DMG is going to be a little low,the only way I got my Tank Necro to do good DMG was to have 3k Power. If you fight Zerkers they will still drop, but most people in WvW don’t run Full Zerker other then Thief’s.
This is what my new and old builds look like(didn’t want to post two times)
My old Tank Build.I used dagger 3 to root them, drop wells, then blow pets up.If they had under 18k HP it would drop them to around 20%

Here are my calculations for this build. (EP and EH calculated as detailed in GW2 buildcraft.)
Effective power = 2128*((1-0.41) + 0.41*2.5) = 3436.72
Effective health = 23602*2420 / 1836 = 31109.39
Here are similar calculations for a build where I’ve swapped out every bit of the celestial for PVT, and left everything else the same (http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=;00;3kHVF0847I-K0;9;4JJ;0T53-38;558B4Nl0-Rk0V19cV19cc-FLN6R7-7eqe9-E0J1OYTZZ4050Ds0V;571CwF2Eo;9;9;9;9;7V5-6d).
Effective power = 2706*((1-0.21) + 0.21*1.92) = 3228.80
Effective health = 26402*2624 / 1836 = 37733.58
Relative celestial / PVT calculations:
Relative effective power = 3436 / 3228 = 1.064
Relative effective health = 31109 / 37733 = 0.824
So I guess one could quibble about an extra 500 condition damage or the extra healing power, but my guesstimate is that you’ve given up 18% of your effective health for a 6% gain in effective power. My further guesstimate based on doing builds is that the usual percent loss for a 1% gain in effective power is about 2%; here it’s 3%. I’m not sure why you’d want to do this. (If I miscalculated or was in any way unfair, I’m happy to be informed.)
This isn’t to say that the gear doesn’t work for you, etc., I just never really see great advantages to running anything other than PVT.
Where can I find the Celestial Exalted gear?
Where can I find the Celestial Exalted gear?
It needs to be crafted, as tailor. You also need 5 charged quartz per insignia (read piece of armour). This in turn requires 25 quartz crystals, which can be converted at the rate of one per day.
You left out the main reason why Celestial is nice Crit DMG.
That build isn’t made to run with PvT,it wouldn’t work out to well .You want at lest 3k power with PvT if you want to do DMG.
ok. Thanks. Whats a good alternative gear set for this build?

So I thought about this comment for a little while. I imagine that what you’re thinking is terror and bleeds and the 50% crit trait in SR. I don’t have much to say about terror except that at 700ish condi damage you’re getting like 475 damage a tick, at the opportunity cost of a 20 point trait in SR and an additional 10 points in curses relative to going 30 in spite.
In DS, after the 50% gain in crit chance, the effective power of celestial vs PVT would be
Celestial = 2128*((1-0.91) + 0.91*2.5) = 5032
PVT = 2706*((1-0.71) + 0.71*1.92) = 4473
Relative power of celestial = 5036 / 4473 = 1.13
In this case, you give up 18% of your effective health for a 13% gain in power, relative to PVT. Maybe the intangibles of the build make up for the extra loss in effective health, maybe not.

At the start of the fight my Condi damage dmg is over 1200 and my power is around 2700.I’m not going for DPS with this build,I want spike DMG.When you get hit for a 5-7k Life Blast, then a 1k+ terror and a 3500 Flame Blast your HP will drop. You time the fear so it hits soon as the Life Blast hits and it will always crit in DS.
I have full sets of both gear and been a PvT necro from day one.I know PvT Necros are good. The build I use is for my play style.I never said it was the best Necro build or it would make people OP if they use it,I only posted it cause TheTankSnake wanted to see what it was.

I understand what you’re doing, I’m just trying to work out for myself what the pros and cons of your full Celestial are relative to PVT for a tanking / power type build.
The arguments about spiking are sort of a two-way street; in Celestial you get more spike, but you get spiked more easily. For me it seems that at 20 might stacks, the effective power of full Celestial is about 18% better than that of PVT, you’re giving up power for health at a 1:1 ratio, and I’d argue that Celestial might be a better choice in that case because of the intangibles.
In general, I think what I’ve always heard (and what I thought) is that Celestial is not as solid as other options, because you’re spread too thin across stats. Maybe that’s not as true as I thought. As a final comment, I wonder if comparing Celestial vs PVT is the right thing to do. Possibly the comparison should be against some combination of Carrion + PVT, or PVT + Rampager’s, or something like that.

People that have Celestial love it,people that never used it say its bad.
