Necromancer combat

What weapons/skills are you using? I’m constantly on the move with my Dag/Dag and Staff Necro. I drop wells, I’m in the melee, I’m out of the melee, I’m escaping, I’m hunting down enemies. This class if fun to play, ignore the negative nancy’s and doomsayers. We’re broken right now, not boring. If you’re interested in high level PvP and don’t like playing with conditions, you may want to wait for some updates.
I always like to play the underdog class (that’s why my main is an elementalist, got some buffs now and are actually good if you know the class).
I think I’ll play a bit more on my necro, I like to turn boons into conditions :p
I’m never standing still. Practice moving and placing ground targets and you’ll understand. Practice not just relying on your auto attack to stack conditions. Get to level 80 or go to the Heart of the Mists – don’t judge Necro by low level, under traited and undergeared gameplay.

@OP: It isn’t easy running away from a necro. You can slow them with mark then place a fear trap in front of them to fear them back to you. you also have scepter #2 which cripples. All this while they are bleeding.
Yeah like Karther says, don’t judge it by low levels. You need greater mark trait… It is impossible to miss if you have it.
If you really have issues in WvW running away, use SW. dumb people will chase you off cliff then just teleport back above the cliff, laugh and go about your ways.

Sorry, I should have told I meant it in spvp, as I like to do that.
But really, I thought most skills were pretty useless when I played my necromancer about a month ago. I thought weakness and other conditions were too weak to use. But after getting to know the game better with my elementalist, 10 seconds of weakness on off hand dagger is huge! That’s a lot of damage reduction.

You are right in that necros aren’t the best at throwing conditions on people. But you should win against another condition build. We have one of the highest HP pools and we are great at countering conditions. You can use it to heal or transfer(dagger #4, mark, signet of plague, etc). Corrupt boon is also really fun. In WvW I use corrupt boon, signet of spite, and epidemic. You can decimate zergs. In Spvp, I really like the mobility so I use corrupt boon, signet of spite/plague, SW. If you want to play in the back and bleed people then I would say go corrupt boon, BiP, Epidemic

The problem with giving advice that you’ve never actually tried is it usually doesn’t work. For example:
The fear mark doesn’t work that way. Fearing people will always run away from you, the position of the mark has nothing to do with it.
SW doesn’t work that way either, if you run off a cliff SW will not port you back on top of the cliff.
I never stand still. We’re squishy clothies so getting hit isn’t an option for me. What we do very well is cripple & chill our foes. I’m constantly laying down slows on my targets whilst running in circles & keeping my distance, all the while pummeling and condition stacking. Done right, I can easily drop 3 melee mobs without ever getting hit and that’s just with scepter/dagger + staff.

SW does work when you walk off a cliff, it will teleport you back as long as you are still green. Maybe you should try it, instead of giving bad advice. I use Scepter/dagger and it works well. The weakness is good for wvw, also staff is awesome, it takes practice to run around and throw down marks, but it’s worth it.

I like to have the quick cast for marks. It takes a bit to gauge distance, but it’s so much faster.
You should try out the wells, specifically the Darkness Well and the Condition curing Well. They really allow you to get up and personal with the enemy while staying alive in Light Armor. It’s fun.
In sPvP, I like to roam around using SW to assist with point takes. I can generally harass a group of 1-3 people until my team mates show up with all the blinds I got going on.

@Dibrom
Sigh… SW does work that way. I use it all the time in WvW against zergs chasing me. Fear mark can be used to close distances. I’m not 100% sure but I think people run away from the “source of the fear”, which would be the trap in this instance: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Fear. In any case it can be used to close distances.
^This is why people complain so much about necromancers being weak.
