Necromancer in Fractals an Dungeons?
This is an old topic, the search is your friend. Here is an overview.
1. No melee cleave — this means that Necromancers don’t work well with the guardian stack n cleave meta for clearing dungeon trash and some bosses. Also on huge bosses it is possible to hit 2 hit boxes with a cleaving attack and do double damage. This means that your necromancer literally does half damage compared to other classes.
2. Bad power/zerker damage scaling, conditions underpowered to begin with and condition cap makes them worse.
2a. Terrible ranged damage with staff (and staff marks don’t hurt a lot of bosses).
3. Bad group support.
3a. Bad fields, almost no finishers.
4. Minion AI issues.
I’m lvl 39 in fractals. I’ve done almost all dungeon paths. I use a hybrid build more leaning toward power. I run axe/focus and staff. I can stack vulnerability and keep up perma regen and protection. Do decent dps with great survivability. We’re not the most optimal class but we get the job done. If you enjoy playing necro and aren’t in heavy speed groups you will do just fine.

Is it really as bad as all this? My friends and I recently came back to the game with the intent mainly of doing the PvE content. I’ve been loving my Necromancer so far, but this is sad to hear.
I’ve been doing level 49 fractals with my necro using full zerkers w/o any problems at all. Having wells as my utilities using a power build is good enough for doing aoe damage on mobs when stacking. Also, knowing when to use well of corruption to remove buffs off mobs can be helpful. Flesh Wurm can also be a good utility depending on the fractal you are in.
The most important thing you can do to make the necro ok in fractals is stack blinds and weakness on mobs. And use CC properly. Chill can also help. Necro is far from a good class in pve but when played right they can still help a group a lot.
You can be a good dungeon runner even if you have no cleave attack
1. Piercing targets (LB)
2. Vuln stacking (Axe+Focus+LB)
3. Full zerker and still good survivability
4. Know the mechanics and don’t kitten things up

1. Place your wells on double hitbox bosses, enjoy looking at the dps
It just doesn’t fit into a fully optimized group. That is the reality. And the ability to corrupt boons and blind is completely wasted on the one pain in the kitten fractal because they re apply boons constantly and are immune to blind.
Contrary to popular opinion, I have never been turned away from a pug Fractal run, and maybe once or twice in a year did I hear complaining about necros in team. It is easy to spot the troll LFG types, don’t join those. FULL ZERK PING GEAR, etc….
Or join a guild, then people accept that while you may do less damage than a warrior, you have other strengths, and like necro better than warrior.
PvE casual to moderately serious is perfectly fine for necro. Super hardcore folks would prefer something with more tangible advantages.
Depends. My guild and my friends are all super elitists. But none of them have a problem with me taking my necro along in dungeons or fractals. I rarely do though, simply because I have more fun being much more useful (ele).

1. U can only hit BUILDINGS twice, TA up/fw Tree or some Open World bosses.
2. Power DPS is ok, but we have not enough support. A Necro is a group dps loss, even if we can do a bit more dps then warriors (well warrior dps is only middleground anyway)
2a. Max range dps is usually never needed, close range Axe/DS is not soo bad.
3. That´s the main problem.
4. Minions are not a must have, they need fixes but they have nothing todo with necromancers dungeon/fractals problems.

You make me laugh, super laugh
Happy to amuse you.
