Q:

Hi all,

what’s THE Necro build to be useful for a group in dungeons? I know everyone talks about conditionmancer, but honestly….. we’re not very good at stacking conditions compared to other classes.

This isn’t a complain thread, I’m seriously just want to support the group as good as possible as a Necro.

So any experienced Necro’s here who have run several exploration modes without feeling completely useless are welcome to post their builds/gear.

Cheers,

As I see it, as an outsider. I do sort of feel my heart sink if I see a necro in the group, its not your fault honest, its the balancing peoples fault.

But what I value is: scepter and conditions, condition and support.

So, something like the wells could help, the staff too.

Maybe:

Scepter/Dagger, Staff, Consume Conditions, Plague Signet, Epidemic and Plague form?

I run the same build I run for PvP for soloing and for dungeons. I build for + healing, toughness, vitality, and power. I run the well of blood, power, suffering, and corruption, plague form elite.

20: III,IX
20: II,IV
30: II,VIII,XII

You will hold most mobs aggro easily can keep up dark combo field for 15 seconds, light combo field for 10 seconds, and keep enemies weakened / blinded to tank the hits that come in.

Staff + dagger/focus for weapons.

[edit for example] Was tanking in arah in sub par gear not even focused on the proper stats taking hits from 5-6 undead at a time and surviving while the rest of the group pulled one mob and focused it leaving me to deal with the rest, I took the hits and lived after they were deciding to rejoin the fight from focusing the 1 mob down and realized that I had no plans of dragging the other mobs out of my wells.

Scepter/Dagger “Bleeder” (30/30/0/10/0) is high damage, but short on defense and mobility. Good AoE, though.

Staff “Minion Healer” (20/0/30/20/0) is pretty low damage and the pet AI is still dumb, but they soak hits like a sherman and when combined with a good boon-granter are insanely tough.

@Sjach Darasv:

This is your build:

Since you have 20 points into Curse, would it not be better to use Scepter+Dagger?

I’m curious why in Curse take III -Apply a 1 sec Chill when you blind?

Dagger MH for the life siphoning, it may not be much but it does gain benefit from the + healing, so does the regen from focus Oh. As for the 1 second chill when applying blind, it turns into a 20 sec chill from constant blind spam when in plague form, allows kiting and not being hit at the same time, while constantly punishing abilities of mobs and players alike. When I pvp though I usually swap it out for fear does damage, all in all for my build nothing really gains a major benefit from that trait slot so it is usually more or less just whatever I feel like picking between those two, however, I have to have that trait slot to get to my precise placement of wells trait so it’s kind of just like a minor bonus slot for me.

Do you have a value on the heal from Dagger MH, I know its a faster attack and I think its about 35 per sec ?

Not sure about PvE stats as my necro isn’t properly geared for + healing and everything yet, however in PvP gear with + healing at a little over 1200 in total with the siphoning trait it gives about 400 health per tick

Conditions are the way to go imo. We don’t really get hard hitting dps any other way. A quick note, vulnerability goes a long way in dungeons.

That being said, there are other roles u can fill, even if the guardians aren’t appreciative. 15/0/25/30/0. Staff axe focus. This can be used as an mm or wells tanking setup. You are able to be the main tank with this setup without dying. This isn’t to say tanking is ever easy as compared to ranged dps, but it’s doable and a nice change of pace from time to time.

This build does not have high damage potential, this is probably as good as it gets when considering a cleric Necromancer. You will have to explain to your group what Well of Blood does, they will still run out of it like it’s a red circle and waste your heals. I’m in full Shaman exotics and it ticks for 564 x10 over 10 seconds. Transfusion is your second group heal while Well of Power lets you wash conditions and Well of Darkness being melee’s best friend. Your wells when cast on others will grant them Protection briefly but anything helps.

I prefer Warhorn for the daze but Off-hand dagger is not a terrible choice either. You will act both as the healer and tank in this build. It’s also better if you point and call targets to get the most use out of epidemic.

^^ go there :]

Really if you want to be of HUGE help to the dungeon, Go Axe / Focus. For the stacks of vulnerability
