Necromancers Underpowered in PvP Scenarios?
How is your necromancer getting stabbed for 12k?
Necromancers are one of the tankiest classes in the game.

I was going the hybrid burst/condition damage build that nemesis made trying it out in pvp instead of pve 30 30 0 10 0
Necros can make or break team fights in tpvp. The aoe pressure we have from moves like (corrupt boon -> epidemic) is amazing. Run with an engi or trap ranger on your team and watch people melt.
Hotjoins are a different story – 8v8 is not so forgiving for necro.
I’ve been running a 0/20/20/0/30 build and it’s pretty awesome in tpvp. You have so many fears to protect you/do damage. Run with nightmare runes it’s really fun.
I disagree Necros are beastly in WvW (that’s what I do the most), mine is anyway and there are several videos and threads around this forum showing the same. It is difficult to get a grasp of what works and what doesn’t but once you get there the class becomes very fun. Spend some more time tinkering with builds and practicing your player fighting skills and eventually you will find a build you like that works well.
I can do the same thing with a screenshot:
#1: That was right after leaving spawn after starting the match with zero lifeforce, in the duration of a Basilisk Venom. Sure, super quick burst by the thief, but if I was at full lifeforce I would have DS Retal > Fear and then dropped staff #5 on my feet and then #3 > Golem charge, etc whatever build I’m running. Point being that as a necro I HAVE a counter to that—a readily available counter—most of the time. In this one instance I did not, so I lost. Based on his damage he’s obviously glass and would die pretty fast if his combo got interrupted, that’s the trade-off. It’s not anything more than that.
#2: A 21k backstab, 2 hits. Clearly had to have been at least a 3 second delay between the two of them because of Revealed. Moderate damage Steal, appropriate/low damage Heartseeker. Looks like I was also fighting an elementalist, so chances are I was debuffed at the time, not targetting the thief so giving him my back and I usually (in that build) have only a small amount of toughness so my damage mitigation is weak.
It’s easy to post screenshots out of context to showcase what the thieves do best, but figuring out why you actually got killed is what will help you get better at avoiding it in the future. Necros are awesome.

I’ve seen some of your videos, you do nice, but as anyone with a Necro I haven’t found you “beastly” (You and no-one, please don’t take this as an offense, nothing further).
I run a zerker well Necro and I completely disagree. Even without the massive amount of condition transfer from my epi build I can still kill 75% of trap rangers before they beat me. And Necro is the class with the best aoe point rejection/holding. Even with the squishiest amulet I can go plague and sit through three enemies focussing me until help arrives. Plus if you are in the high point in mid Forest your marks + wells make it impossible to stay alive on point. I personally play a team fight build currently, but before with my epi build I would regularly 1v3/1v2 in hotjoin. It takes a lot of time to learn and I think it has a higher skill cap then elementalist. Sure ele takes a little while to master skills and combos. But necro takes good timing, positioning, and incredible class awareness to be deadly.

Highest health pool does nothing to lower crit damage…
My almost rendered video will be up on youtube in a few hours. You will see what a necromancer can do in a paid tournament. You will see we are not exactly underpowered…
Nemesis live-stream channel - focusing mainly on Guild Wars 2, League of Legends and Dota II.
+1 to Nemesis (bro, i still cant get over that 9k hit, and the channel didnt even fully crit). For pvp, you want to use either a pure power build, not a power/condition hybrid. Or you can use a minion build that includes heavy survivability traits.
I hope to do a power build video different from Nemesis version. It gives 90 crit dmg, 70 crit chance and alot of out going instant damage. You can wait for the vid if i ever get around to it, or look it up the rough drafts here. User name is Reagus.

i loose mostly to thieves who knows how to play but they are thieves so its normal
mesmers are annoying and can beat me but i often kill them
Eles can kill me if i do mistakes during the fight but i often force them to run away or they die bleeding. Most rangers are aeasy to be killed.
Cond necro here btw
Here is a screen shot to give you hope. I’m the necro on red team. My best game so far in sPvp.

In which vid does he do a 9k hit? Would like to see it
I think he added up all the damage from a channeled ability?
I do not think necros are underpowered at all. You need to know how to play the class. Personally, I think necros are right where they need to be. They aren’t too powerful and they aren’t too weak. They definitely can make or break a team. My guild runs a couple of different necro builds. Personally, I’m a condition build. Epidemic is destruction in WvW. I usually end up making between 50-100 badges in a few hours of WvW. In tpvp I’m pretty beastly as well.
If you are wiping fast, you need to use Death Shroud more often, and should fix your build appropriately. If you are a go in and just kill like a warrior or guardian, then you should be a tank/power build. If you are condition, you need to stay unseen and just unleash AoE.
I’m not saying you are unskilled, but maybe your build isn’t right for your play style if you are dying so fast.
