Hey there everyone!

So I play my necro a lot in PvP and I tend to run a DPS build which utilises DS quite offensively and my question is, are there any key damage mitigation utilities or something that I am missing? So far my understanding is that when a Necro runs out of life force, it becomes “Thanks for playing, Better luck next time!” and that to me, kinda sucks
Any info would be much appreciated!

For an offensive powermancer build I recommend running spectral armor, and well of power, I use blood is power myself for my third, or you can run whatever compliments your build, such as well of suffering, or even flesh wurm for a quick escape, or spectral wall for more protection and a way to sorta screw around with your enemies. Spectral grasp is another great option to keep people from fleeing, giving you 15% life force as well.

As someone else said, activating spectral armor, then going into deathshroud pretty much makes you invincible, as you take less damage in deathshroud, plus 33% damage mitigation with protection, and gain 8% life force per hit. You can also use well of power as well to give you boons, a friend of mine once hit me with his ranger barrage, I just cast well of power, went into deathshroud, and stood there or the full channel while pelting him with lb. at the end came out with…think it was 50 seconds of vigor because of that.

Also! Shrouded removal, great trait, specially against dang thieves who stealth in and steal your fear, then try to burst you down.

A knight in shining armor is a man who never had his metal truly tested.

There are a lot of options. Unfortunately, the best one, “Don’t be there,” is not one of them.

Your damage and CC is your defense if you’re running a glassy build. Otherwise spectral armor is your best defensive skill.

This. Out-dps people when you can. Apply weakness when you’re a little ways into your rotation. Keep using abilities, especially ones that give you life force for to soak damage up with in death shroud (though this is weaker now from the death shroud recharge nerf).

What kind of Power build? D/Wh+A/D, double dagger staff, well build?

They play differently and have different methods.

For example first one, in my style, will really utilize Near to Death trait and Warhorn + positioning to stay alive. It’s very bursty variant of Power Necro which can excell against many other builds, especially glassy ones, but isn’t capable of staying on point against celestial axebow for example.

Double dagger staff is probably more common, “safe” type of powerbuild as it doesn’t utilize DS hopping as much. It should do better when fighting on point, as it has source of regeneration and double transfer etc.

Wellmancer dies.

The big thing is the knowledge of where to place your Wurm and positioning in general and managing both your life force and health.

After that, we enter the domain of specific encounters and how to deal with them.
