Necromancy and Minion's
yea i miss corpse spells as well… Guess Anet removed them so necro could be faster in combat instead of waiting for corpses for a build to start being useful, but minions masters atm are pretty disapointing if compared to gw1. Even tough we get different utilities with each minions, i kinda rather the option of raising the usual 10-11 minions instead of these 5-6 and play as I prefer. Even then i have to admit that gw1 mm was way more slow paced than gw2 mm….

I want to be able to control a recently downed player until they re-spawn forcing them into minion camera mode while I control them.
That would make me happier than those things they say on Geico commercials.

In GW1 (and in GW2) you don’t control the dead. You are granted the power of Grenth in exchange for the energy you steal (“Soul Reaping”) from the dying.
Necro minions are made of corpse bits (corpses are “exploited”) but they aren’t zombie or skeletal undead. Those undead are an abomination, as they are the souls of the dead confined to a rotting shell (whether flesh or skeletal), and are basically the work of evil magic.
It’s a deliberate distinction that our enemies in GW1 (Shiro, The Lich, rogue Necros, etc) used zombies and skeletal undead, just as our enemy Zhaitan uses zombies in GW2.Those creatures are slaves, while our minions are but the power of Grenth loaned to us as mindless fleshy constructs, though fueled by death and the power of the soul, they are not the souls of the dead themselves.
And I had this thought, maybe it was already said somewhere, but why not use life force to summon minions. Each minion would require % of LF to be summoned (bone minion 20%, golem 100%) but we could have more than 1 minion of each type, but still with certain limitations (or after some time it will be a 1 man zerg with 100 golems). The only big issue I see, is how to implement it in gw skill bar system, like how to separate new minion summon from using minion skill.

That just makes zombies/skeletons even more cool if the association with Zhaitan and other “big evils” = taboo/evil. I don’t like the Bone Fiend or whatever it is (never use it/doesn’t look unique) and the Shadow Fiend (reminds too much of the void guy a Warlock has in WoW), i agree with you that i wish at least we could have an army of the same type like 6-8 Flesh Golems (reduced damage and toughness etc… of course) and run riot with those and the meta game of being a Minion Master means managing your minions in terms of summoning them, healing them, buffing them, rezzing them etc…
The point i suppose I’m trying to make for myself is if being a Necromancer is just stealing life and creating fleshy constructs leaves me feeling the class is a little empty, missing something that’s all.
Minions have their place in small scale pvp and normal pve. They are next to worthless in Dungeons and WvWvW generaly.
The AI needs improved and the minions themselves need buffed. Keep in mind though that they get better at higher levels. In a 70+ Minions are a bit better, in lower level zones they are more of a problem.
Guardian Spirit Weapons, and Ranger Pets/Spirits share our concerns. So does Mesmers Phantasms to a point.
Hay, I don’t know wether it’s just me or not but after I restarted necro and was forced to use only 3 minions( bone fiend, bone minion and blood fiend, iv noticed that the response time on their attacks were spot on! Even when I changed targets mid fight they side the same, though the skills activation was still alittle slow……

Assuming they do anything, then you get to 80 and they become horrible again. This of course is continuing to assuming that you are able to make them do anything, half the time calling them horrible is being too nice.
Although corpse utilization would be pretty neat, it would be a pretty big downfall if we had to rely on it. Think about it. One of our biggest complaints is that we start sPvP matches with 0LF, and it takes too long to build up a full bar. At 0LF we are at a major disadvantage.
So imagine now on top of having to build up your LF from 0-100%, you also have to down an enemy or 3 just to get a couple minions. And if you die, you lose all those minions you worked so hard to get
