Love my necro but just wont play him. I mostly pvp. BIGGEST problem I see with necro is no gap closer. No sprint or teleport or way to counter being kited makes a melee necro a free kill. If I’m doing it wrong please enlighten me cause I would love to play my necro but he just doesnt compare to my engineer (which has a way to do kitten near everything).

Dagger has a immobilize, Death shroud has teleport as part of Dark Path, Spectral Graps is supposed to bring the target to you, and Bone Fiend can also immobilize when Rigor Mortis is activated. There are also various skills that put a Chill (-66% movement) or Cripple (-50% movement) condition on the target.

Sorry dude but you’re playing melee-mancer wrong if you’re having issues sticking to kiters. I dont have any issues sticking to my target. The problem is we lack any options for bursting our target down. Necro’s have all the skills we need to keep our target from escaping and keeping constant pressure on them but what we lack is the ability to finish off foes who have 10k hp< remaining before they kitten around for a few seconds waiting for their burst combo to come back up and turn the tides in their favor.

I’m not saying we need some cheap 1button victory option like PW spam or 1hb + haste, but kitten its annoying that no matter what way you build a necro it takes a kittening week to kill anything. Feast of corruption is supposed to be that option for condition necros but ofc the skill doesnt work properly and even then the base damage for the skill is so low it doesnt matter.

The axe #2 skill and the dagger #2 skill both have the potential to be good burst options for power/crit builds but are plagued by slow channel times and only doing avg damage at best.

Yeah, as has already been said, we definitely don’t have any problems sticking to the target. The problem we have is the damage output.

Perhaps Necromancer just isn’t for you?

In my experience the damage output is okayish IF you can use your dagger autoattack. Problem is you cannot really risk to use it against other melees since their attacks hit you back much harder. If you take a look at the melee skills that other classes have on their melee weapons (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sword#Mesmer, http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Sword#Ranger) and combine that with the necro’s lack of escape ability you will understand why the necro is simply ill-equipped to go toe to toe with other melees or even ranged classes using melee weapons.
