Q:

Hi

I’m curious as to what necros are like in dungeons in general. Do they bring much outside of conditions or would you not bring one given the choice?

Most of what i hear is pvp related but i would appreciate any info you guys have on pve stuff

Cheers

When it comes to dungeons I tend to run as a support setup. This us staff with a blood and death setup. This lets me get into DS to soak up hits and use Life transfer to heal allies and apply vulnerability to targets. And I choose utility skills that tend to support my party members.

I’ve honestly found my necro to be pretty fun. Out of my friends I’m one of the second hardest to kill. I spec myself out for tanky support and provide an endless stream of interrupts on the foe. So I’ll take the Horn for the daze (main hand is ax for me, but it doesn’t matter, scepter might work well if your allies can apply a lot of conditions as well), staff for the marks (allied regen and condition removal, plus another interrupt in the fear).

For utility I go with Spectral Grasp to pull enemies off my friends/interrupt, Well of Darkness to screw with anything melee, and the last one is fairly modular but I’ve been taking Spectral Wall for the team buff plus debuff if you force the enemy through it.

Add in either Plague form for more blind or Flesh golem for a nice knockdown/distraction. Personally I go for the golem for less cooldown times.

For the heal I go Well of Blood to help out my team more, though condition feasting might not be a bad choice with the right set-up.

For traits I’m not sure what I’m doing yet. I’m going in Blood for the healing (aoe heals when I use Death Shroud and health siphon for me), Death for the toughness and minion buffs (I’m a minion master outside of dungeons, might try it in now that I’ve hit 60 and got access to Grandmaster), and some Spite to augment Blood (the Master minor trait).

I also run a support/tank build and it’s a lot of fun.

I use dagger\dagger and either staff or specter/focus.
well of blood
well of suffering
well of blindness
signet of undeath
plague form

traits blood magic and DS for extra heals, more life, as well as making life blast apply vulnerability.
very fun to play, and even manages some decent AOE damage

If conditions are more your thing, try this one out.

With a bit of coordination from your group, epidemic is an extremely powerful ability. Flesh Golem is quite good for difficult pulls, he can eat the alpha strike pretty well and a well timed charge can save a team mate. Some pulls i will swap him out for Plague if i think I will need the aoe blinding. Plague signet and Corrupt Boon are personal preference really and should be swapped out depending on the needs of the fight (same w/ epidemic on single mob fights).

Wurm can be quite useful for dodging powerful attacks and is pretty good at living and putting out passable damage in the process with decent placement. Spectral Walk is good for kiting and movement heavy fights, Spectral Armor is a decent protection CD (even if the cd is a bit long). Spite Signet and BiP are decent if your group is having trouble maintaining conditions on your main target for you to spread.

Generally try to open with staff combo, then swap over to Scepter/Dagger. Once I’m satisfied with the condition stacks on the main target, hit epidemic and watch the magic happen (bonus points if you have someone stacking confusion).

from todays experience from arah its pretty much reviving the four glass cannons on your party while summons keep boss busy enough for you to have time to do it.

it was quite odd to see how other fell down from one hit while for me they hit barely half my hp and as i could dodge most didn’t really have problem getting sometimes hit.
