Need gear advice for WvW (DS power build)
Honestly….no. You don’t have enough extra armor to make that much of a difference in the damage you take, but the loss of attack stats is hurting your dps.
As a roaming power necro going tanky on armor or hp really won’t make you win any more fights than you would on pure zerker. You will last longer but unless you have some way of recovering hp that armor and hp wont help you very much at all. And to gain the defensive stats you loose enough damage that it becomes hard to bring enemy’s down quickly.
I have two builds I have used. The first is sort of my training wheels build for new power necros. Its damage is good but not amazing (by my standards) it has plenty of life steals and heals to keep it going, it has loads of codi clearing ability and finally it has good mobility (always important for a roaming build)
The second build is the one I use to solo roam in wvw (and have used all season long in Gold league)
Its all about damage and managing your life force. A huge portion of your ability to survive is psychological, all but the most veteran wvw roamers will rapidly start to panic the more times you hit them for 5k+. The more they panic the less damage they do and the better off you are.
tl:dr zerker EVERYTHING, kill them fast before they can hit you to much. Even bunker builds will melt.
Oh and for gods sake get that bloody staff off a roaming power build…

How on earth do you stay alive with zerker everything? :o I can see that 1v1 with full LF you could kill them before they could kill you, but for small group fights as soon as more than one person looks at you it’s over!

Here are a couple old videos a guildie made a while back, I have tweaked my build since this and do about 40% more damage so there but they get the play style across. In 1v1’s DS is ok but Lich Form is what wins fights.
In small group fights, it kinda depends. If your group is all pugs then just keep an eye on the fight and bail if it starts turning to far south. If your running with your guild just scale the damage up, if you run two zerker necros on team speak you just coordinate fire to take down targets. two support guardians stacking might also really helps.

Reasons why not to do ^^ that ^^
You loose Parasitic bond and death into life, both pretty nice minors.
You loose might on LB (you will see the damage stack up the longer you shoot)
You loose Axe training, 10% more while you have an axe equipped which will apply to DS and Lich
You loose Close to death 20% more damage to foes below 50% hp.
From 50% crit furious demise would only give you 70% crit in ds and it only lasts 5s, deathly perception is 100% crit as long as you are in DS.
And chilling darkness………would be a waist of space in roaming and small groups, there are so many better ways to get aoe chill in your group that don’t kill your damage.
So foot in the grave and traveler runes are about the only useful things you said.

I run a power mancer in wvw, 30,10,0,0,30.
all zerker gear with traveler runes.
traveler opens up a utility slot with the speed, you gain more condition duration this is good even if your power, and has crit damage so not as focused as some runes but a good all around rune set.
zerker is squishy but really the only way to get better a playing a glass cannon is to just do it. Also kill anything that you can when your roaming, you should always top off your LF between fights by killing mobs and ambients.
It was 2 vs 20 but its ok we got’em both!

Glass Power is fun when you are getting big crits and no one is focusing you, but considering Necro’s lack of escapes, evades, blocks, or anything really, it is not a good idea if you expect a fight to last more than 30 seconds.
I prefer to get 2800-3k armor, while still keeping decent power, 50% baseline crit, and at least 50% crit damage. I can sit in DS for a long time either soaking damage or pumping out lifeblasts stacking up might/vuln. And when I drop out of DS I can refill my lifeforce very fast by rotating Spectral armor, locust swarm, and spectral walk.
While I am not in DS, I rely on sigil/food procs to replenish my health, removing conditions with dagger#4 and my heal, and dealing steady damage through dagger autos and axe2.
I usually roam, so I just prefer a sustain type of build compared to burst damage. Glass Necro definitely has a place in wvw, and deals really nice damage, but in reality, when good players realize you are a glass necro, they will just CC you and kill you very fast, regardless of whether or not you can make clever use of walk/wurm.
I also play a full zerker build. It is a high risk build and initially will be frustrating but over time you will begin to learn its limitations and strengths. How is that for a generic description?
Seriously though, it is very fun to play and at least to me does not feel as “spammy” as other builds, unless all you use is life blast.

This is the build i am currently working on, Not quite sure about the Sigil, once i get 25 stacks i plan to swap it out…just dont know what to.
If your dps is where it should be, getting focused isn’t that big a problem. When done right you can kill anything before it kills you, up to and including zerker GS warriors (if you use your cool downs right). About the only times I die are when, A I fight a organised guild group that don’t just focus me with 1 or 2 or B I get run over by a zerg, in which case no necro build would live.
Now don’t get me wrong there are some real tricks to staying up on pure zerker, and they take time to learn. I have been playing pure zerker necro in wvw for over a year now. But no you don’t just go down the second something starts to focus you.
Always stay calm and think through your battle math. Group has hammer warriors, lead off with lich form, hammer warriors are doing 2-3k a hit you are doing 6k…don’t panic take the damage and kill him, if you need to, drop from lich into DS and finish the job. Once the CC is gone you can drop wells around you to gain some breathing room and heal up.
Finally for small group fights, a couple supporty guardians can let zerker necros do crazy things.
Support guardians and zerker necros can lay some serious waist.
