Guild Wars 2

I’ve recently started playing a lot of WvW, though seems that I can barely take on any people and generally I don’t feel like much of a help in the group
So I need some WvW advising…

Trying to make a condition build while having Axe/Focus on swap for Siege and occasional fights. I haven’t tried to be a Wellmancer, but I was simply drawn to Wells for the awesome AoE

2. Gear: Thought rabid yet I’m not sure… What would you use?

3. Fights.: I feel like I’m dying too fast while not killing fast enough and just wasting my skills I’d be happy for rotation suggestions or pretty much any advice.

4. DS: While I know the Necro community loves the DS and uses it a lot, personally it didn’t grow on me… I know it should be very useful, but the damage on #4 and #5 feels a bit lacking to me… I must be doing something wrong, please enlighten me, because I find myself using it only as a “O kitten” button before Death, and even then it doesn’t save me that much ><"

Still need advice about about gear

Your build is weird You start as condition person, then you add wells (power tool) and finally even minions. Ofc you can play like that if you want to, but since you are seeking help I would say check necro tutorials that Nemesis had put up:

Generally people think that: scepter & OH dagger are condition weapons(bleeds). Axe/MH dagger are power weapons.

Or you can be DS power necro (I play this only in PvE, but some people say that they roam with this. Roamer may need to swap gear a bit.) I’m aware of his builds and I sit for hours and listen to them, though honestly I didn’t like the playstyle of any of them… I’m looking for something else, I’m drawn mostly to vampiric and wells aspects of the Necro. Ofcourse, I do take a lot of his advice.

You’re right actually, my pursuit for conditions was dumb. That might be why I felt so uneffective

As for the Elite, I don’t think that the minion breaks the build. Sure, he doesn’t fit that well, but it’s nice to always have him out there, especially when he provides me a knockdown. I’d rather this than a Form I’d probably use once every 15~20 minutes in unusual fights

Imo, siphon isn’t that great at least not to go out of your way to spec into. If your going to go zerker gear, your going to need ds for the D so getting Near to death would be nice so its up every 6 sec that’s only 20 pts into soul reaping and you can still have 10 pts for some siphon.

There is more synergy in your traits and utilities, however looking at all the support you have in your util bar I was expecting to see a Staff. I would switch out Vampiric Precision or Bloodthirst for Ritual Mastery when you’re using 3 wells, and I would suggest against fully kitting out in Berserker gear.

Have you read Ascii’s Wellomancer thread? He can be a bit abrasive occasionally but there are some great discussions that address traits, playstyles, survivability, and even Elites for large scale front line Necromancers. If nothing else, it is different from Nemesis’ playstyle.

If you like wells I would look at Ascii’s thread like suggested. Also there will be a trait patch on the 15th, so look forward to that as well. Maybe even hold off until you see the changes.

I didn’t suggest Ascii’s thread to encourage you to use his playstyle or his build, only to show you more possibilities and opinions already in the forums for this patch. We aren’t all playing in SoR as a Commander for TW so it’s not for everyone, but I’ve learnt more from Ascii than I ever will from Nemesis.

If you must have both Bloodthirst and Vampiric Precision I would experiment with both Ritual Mastery and Vampiric Rituals to find which one you prefer. They’re excellent traits for a Well Build so choose wisely, I did not mean to discount the benefits of either of them before.

If you can stay alive in your encounters to accomplish what you want to in Berserker’s gear then that’s fine, but I simply am not good enough. As a Necromancer, I feel more Toughness is critical in my survival so I always have a Knight’s Chest, and Leggings at bare minimum, disregarding weapons and jewelry. Try not to invest too much into your exotic armour with Ascended inevitably on the horizon.

Knight is always good on necro since we have around 18k base hp, you can mix zerker and cavalier trinkets to get some crit dmg w/o loosing too much armor (that u need in wvw).

You may require some form of Life Force generation/movement on your util bar unless your enemy melts in front of you.

Your gear is all about personal preference. With the highest health pool in the game, plague form, and a secondary hp bar, I don’t feel that we need too much more vitality. If you prefer Soldier’s or even Sentinel’s gear instead that’s completely fine and I have little doubt more experienced players than myself choose it over Knight’s. Mahedros.9103’s advice is great. If you’re still unsure of what you want and don’t want to blow your savings on a whim, work tentatively on your build. Assemble a cheap version with rares and exotics while you continue to save those laurels. It won’t be perfect but it will give you a fairly accurate indication of what you need to change to get the most out of your build.
