I can’t figure out how to PvP as a Necromancer! I’ve been using a bleed build I found off the internet and it just doesn’t seem to work for me, people just seem to heal faster than I can bleed them or they just don’t seem to be hurt at all… It feels like i’m doing everything right but my damage is just too low. I’m sure i’m screwing up on something or the build i’m using is outdated, but I don’t have any friends who PvP as a Necromancer so I can’t ask for advice. If someone could help me out here, maybe tell me a good build or some tricks, that would be great!

Idk much about condition necros as I run a power build, but if you are just super focused on bleeds and nothing else and they can remove a condi or two every now and then you won’t do much. The condi necros out there now make sure there are all kinds of pretty colors on the bottom right half of your monitor.

I’m pretty sure your build is outdated. Care to post it?

I’m fine with trying other builds, power is something i’ve wanted to try, just never knew how to build right.

Condition builds now are either 30/20/X/X/X or 0/30/20/0/20. The big traits in the first are dhuumfire and terror, the rest is depending on preference. I never have run the first build.

I actually picked up rabid weapons/accessories and carrion armor b/c I wanted more vitality, but the condi dmg is similar. Like Nessuno said, it really is all about having many many conditions constantly up and reapplied.

Since the damage reduction to terror in yesterday’s patch I’ve been trying out a power build. I’m sure that the 0/30/20/0/20 is still fine though.

Also, I am not a necromancer expert, so others may have much better opinions. I just use what works for how I play.

Use Swall always behind the enemy but not too far away so that you can do: Swall, Sarmor, Doom, Dark path, Tshackles, Golem, Signet, Feast.

As it is now, are condition builds doing better than power builds?

Yes…no…
Well yes and no. Power builds can pull out decent damage.
Condi build take time to build up candi on you target but once you get going the r just as leathal.

The my opinion

You have to inflict alot of different conditions to protect bleeds/burning from being cleansed. Some professions can remove 3 to 4 conditions every 10 sec.

I haven’t tested a power build since the DS buff of last patch, but I think conditions still have the upper hand. Power shroud builds are pretty vulnerable to blinds and blocks that interrupt your pressure, because DS #1 is slow. While conditions, once landed, keep pressuring, even if you miss the next few hits.

By the way, if you run a condition build without Dhuumfire, I strongly advise you to go carrion (some dhuumfire necro also go carrion, taking advantage of DS fury), mostly because of the extra vitality that helps manipulating conditions and the double+ dip with DS scaling at apparently 120% of your health pool (not counting Soul Reaping bonus). As an added bonus, you deal decent direct damage: can be a life saver when you’re almost dead, all DS skills used, spamming DS #1 to take down your opponent first.

Does anyone have a power build they could post? I thank everyone for all these condition builds and advise, just I wanna try out other plays styles and see if maybe i’d do better with it.

It’s a high burst build. You will hate being a pinball necro without any stun breaker, but you will love the burst. Either immobilize with dagger #3 and drop wells (possibly from afar), hit DS, and bolt, or spectral grasp, wells, DS #1. Target should be chilled, at least with focus #5, so if he dodge out of wells, outrun him and fear him back into, while still bolting. You can go Lich Form instead of DS too.
