Hi everyone,

i just created my Necro and i’d like to receive advice for more experience players.

I main an Elementalist, both staff and d/d, and i’m trying to get a grasp on how the necro mechanic works.

this is my build for spvp right now:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBmQD7kjGolGsnGw2GgeTsgLYxZxu4YkKN0GiWQXtAQLA-TJxHABXXGYgLCgG7PAwTAAA

i know it’s a litte bit squishy, i tried celestial amulet but the damage is very low, so i switched to marauder for more dps, but i die instantly in teamfights.

Should i try the Valkyrie amulet, or Crusader for more toughness?

lastly, which utility skills and weapons do you recommend?

Thanks in advance for your time.

Vanity is a call for attention

Looks to me like you’re build doesn’t know what it wants to be. If you’re going power, stay away from chill and fire traits. Death perception will make every hit a crit in RS.

i like the build, it reminds me a lot of the chillomancer builds that Lynnie was using during the beta with the exception of the power runes which doesnt make much sense.

the dhuumfire build is an interesting one that players have mentioned seeing good results with.

the reason why cele feels like its low damage is because not all of our damage comes from just hitting things. chill, poison and dhuumfire are big wedges in the meta for necro right now, and while it may seem like you’re not hitting for much, the sustain and constant pressure is how you’re putting people down. Just pay attention to your ticks from the conditions you apply.

For a power based build, you can drop dhuumfire for death perception. with all the mobility and blocks/invuln/evades in game right now, generating LF with dagger in a competitive environment is difficult since its rare to get the full dagger chain to connect to targets.

Chill, cripple, weakness, and small amounts of blindness are our bread and butter for hampering opponents in PvP, given we have no active mitigation, but death/reaper shroud instead.

That being said, welcome to necromancer. coming from elementalist, its like stepping out of a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento and into a coal powered locomotive covered in steel wool.

If you want to stick to Power-Reaper you could try it like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vRAQNBmQD5kjGolGsmGgeTs4NYTNgAQCIuBGBvgUdgQwgC-TpBFABiXGwhLAQJ7P02BBYhHAAAHBAA

Third utility could be spectral walk, flesh wurm, spektral armor or “rise!”.
Like you said your traits were quite squishy. Blood is in my eyes better for power than spite. Death perception is gold and you will like 100% crit chance in shroud.

If you are not against playing condi I woul advise you to go condi, it is currently better.
