New necro utilties(brainstorm)
I think some of these skills are pretty cool and I would love to see them in game but alot of them act like hex spells and sadly all hexes ware removed from the game to make it more simple for new players (altough there are still very few spells in the game that kind of work like hex spell such as binding blade or basilisk venom)
I’ll paste some suggestions I originally posted in the thread “My beloved necro is a dissapointment” :
I just want ArenaNet to capitilaze more on the undeath component of necros. I think a lot of ppl would appreciate more cool, creative and imagitive skills that actually play of of this concept.
There could be so much you could do with it. Like Raise allies. Extending your own life after death.
.. how about an elite skill that raises all allies and foes in the area. Called e.g. “undying army” “Raise all reccently deseased in the area for 30 sec,up to maximum of 4- (if a player is affected they are granted a auxilerary toolbar and can choose to continue fighting in temporary undeath.” (allies would get a promt asking if they wanted to be revived with a 5 sec timer, if they declined an AI zombified version of them would be raised instead)
This could also maybe raise yourself if you die as a passive with an extremely high internal cooldown) in a temporary undead form (complete with a new skillbar) for 30 sec.
- Making dmg, heal you, and healing. dmg you, temporarily (like a variation of reversed energy on undead.. positive energy damanages and negative energy heals undead creatures)
- Armies (a lot) of low to medium powered minions that overwhelms foes. Teleporting to corpses. Consuming corpses to heal, or to gain mana or for buffs.
Self detonating on death (could be downed ability) etc.
Also how about another elite to summon a fleshreaver?
I personally would like to see some form of minion customization if areanet is going to keep this concept of permanent minions we might as well customize them .. maybe unlock more customizations through quests .. drops .. or item store. Like different skins for minions and maybe slight variations on attack (adds a condition but decreases dmg) things like that.
I personally think that they haven’t even touched the surface of what death magic could be.
I agree with minion customisation, since currently we have: undead rats, undead rabbits, flying jellyfish, shadow and a buff mutant. Will write few utilities that comes to mind a bit later : )
Spectral Mirage – Stealth yourself and nearby allies for x seconds, Fear nearby enemies for y seconds and inflict Weakness for z seconds. This could easily be an elite if you bump up the numbers, including radius, range and the cooldown, but would work out perfectly for a Utility such as Thief’s Blind Power or Shadow Refuge, Mesmer’s Veil and Engineer’s toolbelt variant of Elixir S. Alternative names are Spectral Cloak, Shroud or Fade.
Spectral Wraith – Grant Stability and <another boon> to yourself for x seconds. Should also grant the transparent but glowie green effect other Spectral skills (Walk, Armour) grant. Should have competitive numbers to be on par with Guardian’s “Save Yourselves!” and Elementalists Armour of Earth, both of which grant Stability and something. Note Guardian’s is AoE. Necromancer currently lacks any Stability with the exception of elite transformation spells or entering Deathshroud, I really wish it had one.
Banshee’s Wail – Fear all nearby enemies for x seconds. A longer than one please, like Warrior Shouts or Theif’s stolen Fear, mm? That will put to rest the tears about our fears being weaker but make us lose a Utility if we want it. You can also add a buff with it for yourself and allies, possibly Vigour or Swiftness.
Grim Reacher – extend the range on all your skills, weapon and otherwise, by x hundred for x seconds. I’d recommend three hundred extra range for perhaps ten seconds, on a sixty second CD. But it’s subject to debate and testing. Dagger and axe suddenly suffer far less among other things. Note range, not radius. Other possible name’s aside from the original play on Grim Reaper include: Reach of the Dead and Claws of the Void.
EDIT: I really like some of the ideas in the original post, especially the Vamparic ones. Blood feast, Unwilling transfusion and Ravenous Appetite were the best, although the devs will have to play with the numbers carefully on the first and last of the three.

I updated the thread with some ideas that were thrown around. I tried to expand on the ideas given and throw out some possible numbers for the skills. if you want any change tell me why so we can have a discussion on what should do what etc.
I believe healing as damage and damage as healing has already been covered, I did name change to banshees wail because it is similar to the warhorn trait name.
