I am learning that the GW1 Minon Master and the GW2 Minion Master have almost nothing in common….I truly loved to raise an army of Minions and watch them run over mobs in Guild Wars (1)

Now, I am looking for help and advice on getting a Necro started in GW2
Currently a level 5 Norn Necro just roaming around the Start world.

Mainly a Solo Player

Thinking Minion (again) or maybe Vampire…..

Thanks

Minions indeed, then Death/Blood to get even stronger. hf

I also miss the classic GW1 Minion Master. I used to wreck HA with a dedicated minion factory build which could swamp the enemy team with over 50 minions from just 6 players XD

Almost any build will work while exploring in PVE. Play around with different skills and builds and get familiar with all of the weapon sets. Don’t worry too much about equipment until you are level 80. Just equip the highest level stuff you get and sell the rest on the trading post.

Also don’t give up on running minions they can still be really effective in PVE!

Dagger and Scepter are probably your highest DPS weapons (and the cleave is very nice on the dagger), so keep them close. Learn to use your Death Shroud effectively, it is a powerful tool for all necros, regardless of spec. It is worth noting that direct damage taken is halved while in shroud. Might stacking affects both your condition and your power damage. While I’m at it, when GW2 says “increases damage by x%” they are referring to DIRECT damage, not condition damage. It usually specifies condi damage when relevant. Otherwise assume it’s only direct (i.e. Spites 20% more damage under 50% health trait is direct damage only)

Necro’s now, more than ever are manipulators of conditions and boons on friends and foes. Unfortunately this doesn’t come into play as much as I’d like in PvE,
