New to Necromancer
well.. good luck..
i would suggest playing warrior if you don’t want to get frustrated with broken mechanics..
pve is not the necro’s thing.. wvw is ok ish for necro.. unless you expect all your skills to work when it matters..
sorry even though necro is my main, i am barely playing it anymore..

hmm..i already have a warrior and ranger and i am looking for a light armor class i chose necro because it seems that the game mechanics isn’t too confusing, what would you advise me to play out of all the 3 light armor class for pve and wvw?
pve = mesmer
wvw = necro
i guess since you still have to discover the class necro can be fun untillyou get a grasp of the professions mechanics. from that point it’s mostly frustration.. but since you play a ranger that shouldn’t be too much trouble
try necro.. its still ok..

tbh i am actually a noob i tried playing a mesmer before but the speed that they run are really slow i know ppl do not usually use signet even for necromancer but the mesmer running speed is just terrible for me
Ele is better both in pve and wvw (zerg) currently.
Necros arent much faster and at least mesmers have blink. Sounds pike you would be more comfortable on an ele. It really doesn’t taken long to figure out the rotations. Just remember as an ele you are super squishy.

I did try eles but i just kept dying sometimes even before i engage in battle my help would go down to near death
As an ele you can heal your whole health bar very quickly heal in water.

To me one of the biggest differences between a low level elementalist and a low level necromancer is that the necromancer feels a bit more forgiving. I mean, it is no problem missing a dodge or three on necromancer since you have some innate tankiness that will save you. Levelling the elementalist on the other hand is way more painful. Mistakes lead to your death way easily. Or at least that was my experience with it.
I’m pretty sure that there are some nice guides on different builds and strategies in this forum that could help you out. Just have a look at the stickied posts and good luck!
And don’t let people fool you, the necromancer isn’t a warrior. There is actually a lot of thought that needs to go into the way that you enter any situation. Do you have enough LF? How do you burst? What rotation to follow? Any escape plan ready?
Necromancer is a really fun class. We do pretty well in PVP, excel in WVW and in PVE such as high level fractals, we might not be the best, but neither are we the worst.
I have both a mesmer and necro.
The shatter mesmer I run in PvE is pretty good and very easy to learn. You run with a greatsword, that is all you need. Second set for me is sword/focus for the focus #4 speed buff. Slot a full set of runes of the centaur and you can keep up a near constant speed buff between focus #4 and firing your healing skill. Sounds lame, but it works ..
I use my condition necro only in PvE for a very specific role in the new 3-headed wurm event. The events requires 3 parties of 4-5 condition necros to deal with the champ husks that spawn. Easy peasy to do and quite fun being part of a 140+ well coordinated team taking down this boss.

how about end game content between the necro and ele?
Ele is fine in WvW, awesome in PvE and low tier in PvP.
Necro is more than fine in WvW, unviable in PvE and still in a good spot in PvP.
Leveling the classes isn’t hard. Necro is forgiving, ton of aoe and fun. Ele on the other hand is more like a nuclear bomb. You just run in and stuff dies. Well, at least with a staff it was easy for me.
As a side note, leveling a mesmer is a nightmare. My most horrible leveling experience in this game so far and i have all 8 professions.
i tried leveling a ele at level 10 and went up against 3 level 8 mobs they just destroy me hands down while i did not even manage to even attack them so i am thinking i must be doing something wrong with it

Wow I’ve actually found my zerk mesmer the easiest character I’ve leveled so far… I never even have to use my heal.

I already had experience in the game when i made the ele, so it made the process easier, but with the right weapons (aka staff) pve leveling is faceroll.
hmmm…i am starting to think that i might roll a ele since my purpose might be for wvw but would need all the advice i can get
In WvW you have a lot of control and damage just from staff alone (jeez, that weapon is awesome) and with an enormous 1200 range you are far from the danger. Solo roaming also possible with double dagger, but correct me if im wrong.
For PvE i would check out the ele guides by DEKeyz.
That would be a big help thanks for the guide just hope i can figure out how to not die using a ele un wvw and pve since they are squishy
I cant say I agree with a portion of class feedback provided here.
- Mesmer levelling was a joy to me, but that’s obviously just personal opinion.
- Ele low tier in pvp? What? That’s an opinion, not a fact.
Ele’s are quite scary if handled properly and can be a down right kitten to kill.
Key to playing mesmer well is learning your skill combo’s and getting familiar with your attunement CD’s and swapping to the right one at the right time.
nail that and you’ll be incredibly hard to kill while being a serious threat to whomever faces you.
- Necro’s in WvW, I love it. Quite tanky if setup decently and make no mistake: 1v1 and 1v2 they are more than capable to hold their own. Again, depends on how you play.
All three classes are interesting, fun and engaging in their own way. i wouldn’t necessarily rate one above the other in wvw, i’d call them different at best.

Hey there thanks for the feedback i guess my problem with using ele is staying alive maybe i need to learn dodging good enough :p

dodging, the range on your abilities and when to swap to attunements.
Ele is a difficult class to play and can feel really squishy early on in a new player’s hands.
If you can overcome that and ‘connect’ to your ele, you sir have got a true powerhouse under your fingertips.
Plenty of classes are easy to do okay with, but if you ask me, the playerskill difference is detected most in those that chose Mesmer and Ele.

Maybe i should play more light armor class before i try my hands on ele, i have been playing my warrior and i might not get use to all these dodging and etc
