Oh NOOOOO BWE is over. :(
Darn now I have to wait till tomarrow to test the wvw boarderland.
Oh no, I feel so bad for you guys… You got interrupted while trying out your favorite elite specs…
<——— Guy who couldn’t pre-purchase HoT in time for the beta
I really enjoyed the BWE, I think Reaper saw a lot of really nice improvements, and most importantly its obvious Gee is dedicated towards really ironing out our issues. At this point most of the changes are just numbers and QoL things, and that’s a really good place to be with another BWE waiting.
It was improved from the last beta. Still needs a bit more fine-tuning here and there, but overall, very well done. Had a blast playing it and can’t wait for the next beta.
Will update once Path of Fire releases.
I super enjoyed the reaper changes!
It’s so much fun, and such a huge improvement over the last weekend.
I just can’t play the game, now that I have tested the reaper. I guess it is a good thing, since I can focus more on school.
really happy w/ where reaper is at. the improvements to GS (gravedigger)made a huge difference…..shouts still need some help, Soul eater and Deathy chill traits still seem poor/ no reason to take, and RS 1 and 4 skills could use a slight dmg increase…..but the class is really fun to play and pretty effective to boot.

Agreed, mate. Finally some Dev is taking good care of us.
I still would change some little things like Chilling Nova ICD, CttB CD or increased utility and the RS #2 clunkyness. Shouts seems to work fine in large scale stuffs, just not meant to solo.
Now i can’t even play my necromancer again, Reaper is just better and fun.
This beta, just like last one, I had a blast. I must say that I am really happy with how GS turned out for PvE, and how sustainable and impactful RS feels for PvP.
I wonder how similar Reaper will be to the treatment Necromancers received between the original Beta Weekends and release. If the cycle repeats itself, I will be a sad panda.
I think that there’s still some skills that devs need to fix, for example the shout You Are All Weaklings that is barely the only break-stun shout and the only shout that go in dooldown when the enemy hit you with a CC skill, making it a lol breakstun skill (when someone stun you, you can active for example Suffer but not the only breakstun reaper have).
Suffer is still a underpowered shout. It’s effect is good but it had to be the reaper best source of Chill. It’s recharge time is really high compared to the effect, expecially if you look to similar skills the necro still have. It need at last a big boost of chill duration (something like 50-100% more duration or a recharge reduced to 20-24 sec.)
I’m been happy about the GS. I’m been able to crit a mob for 17k of damage with grave digger and see some kind of Big numbers make me really happy.
But it’s a slow weapon and that make it good only in PvE. In sPvP it’s barely a waste.
The other thing Devs have to work on is the Trait that bounded to the GS: Soul Eater.
This trait is really useless!
It give us a health siphon on the slower weapon of the game and reduce the recharge of the GS skill when we active Gravedigger, a skill made to be spammed when the enemy is under 50% of HP, making all the other skills totally useless (we can still use Death Spiral to stack vulnerability or Nightfall for blind, but it’s rare that you stop your big dps only to inflict a little of veakness when you don’t even have the trait to increase your critical rate with it).
Suffer and Soul Eater can be the only 2 skill/trait that I think really need a rework (expecially Soul Eater).
But the Reaper is really funny and I think it will be my main when HoT come.
I’ve not tried it properly in spvp (i found some bad guys that killed me repeatly making me turn back in PvE XD. But with a little of practice a Reaper can do great things in sPvP)
I think it was nice. I admit I did not give Reaper a proper 20-30h testing it deserved, being just…a tiny bit..too into Revenant, but from what I’ve managed to experience it seems like Reaper itself as an idea is basically done and now it’s just number tuning here and there.
Oh and new model for Shambling Horrors to look like my armless chicken from GW1 is an absolute number #1 priority.
I’m not afraid of Reaper, I think it should be fine.
What I’m still concerned about is my favourite Core Necromancer, but aren’t we all?

Same feeling as when BWE1 ended… I dread going back to the ‘ol boring necro. Oh well at least the expansion isn’t too far away. Reapers have taken necros to a whole new level of fun.
I am definitely going to miss playing my Reaper, it was a ton of fun and I am hoping the remaining issues get ironed out but it RS is a blast to play and I thoroughly loved the artwork in the new area.
Kudos for all the work that has been done to date it’s really starting to payoff.
I had an absolute blast playing the Reaper and miss it already, i never had a “main” and usually just switch between my necro, ranger, ele and guard but Reaper completely changed that.
Going back to regular necro, it just feels incomplete now.
I felt like Reaper was really strong in WvW roaming 1v1s. I’m going to miss the Reaper if only because of all the free food it gave me. I wish I had been able to record some stuff.
When it comes to changes, the only thing that comes to mind is making Chilling Nova less random.
