i think someone attempted this in the HoT Section.. anyway yes this section needs to be cleaned up there’s waaaay too many threads about the same kitten thing.
I think the rise shout will be very useful to any MM build. the third utility slot for any minion master is taken up by disposable minions who are there for bigger fight uses (bone minion explosions, wurm teleport escape) and jagged horrors are no exception. By themselves they’re pretty terrible, but if kitten someone at once it’s a lot of damage. Those combined with the lich form mark of horror means the explosive minion build will be really solid.

Now i am tempted to create a new one….
Need to resist…
No new role in www, spvp or pve, no support, no survavibility, but a Cool appearence reaper that seem to be able to kill everyone but will not be able to do that because if ANet don’t give us defensive shouts (like that give immunity to direct/condition damage) and Stability we’ll be anyway struck in use Spectral Armor and Spectral Walk to survive in a pvp situation.
In pve unless ANet make us the surprise that mobs use different skills, Chill is our basic power and it’s totally useless in pve/dungeon situations.
I think that Anet chose to give us a cool specialization but nothing more. Because we’re already a good class that is in perfect balance with all the other classes and can fight and do everything that all the other can! More or less…
Very stoked. Will definitely be picking it up with my Necro for a condi build (as well as probably 2-3 other builds). We still don’t know 90% of the spec but it seems really awesome. AoE stun in DS… nice whrilling attack which will likely be a finisher —> combines with wells for lifesteal..
Life Blast will likely become an AoE cleave melee attack —> synergy with the new Dhuumfire --> AoE burning —> yes plz.
If the GS is hybrid (still hoping it has some condi), then pull into Spectral Wall --> fun times.
Spectral Wall —> AoE Chill
Reaper’s Protection --> AoE Chill
So far so stoked… can’t wait for tomorrow
Edit: I just realised the spinny attack is a DS attack.. which means that spinning in DS would give you no health… kitten . Well… yeah.. at least it would deal additional damage I guess =(

Happy that we got shouts, we could do worse than that. The general theme sounds awesome, and I’m excited to see the stream tomorrow. But that said, I’m waiting until I see the stream before I really make a judgement on it. I have big hopes especially for the elite, but our PvP effectiveness will hinge on getting a reliable heal. Also excited to see all the DS and GS skills.
I honestly didn’t expect much until I saw the video. There was a chill/stun in DS, a pull, and the two GS attacks weren’t remotely slow compared to what we’re used to, they were just normal Necromancer slow.

One of the things they say in the blog post is that necro GS is slower than other professions, but realistically other GS skills are pretty fast. So it could definitely be normal necro speed. They do talk about how slow they are though…

I also used the video as an initial measure for speed, and it really didn’t look slow at all. I’m so used to Focus #5, Dagger #3, DS #1, etc., that I doubt they are going to be much slower than that. Other classes get instant/.5 second abilities, and I’m assuming by “slow”, ANet means 1 second, or .75 – 1.25 seconds. Plenty of time to dodge, but still not so slow that you can run out while chilled and avoid damage slow.

For example, they acted like Guardian LB 2 was long, and its just 3/4s.
Technically that is fairly long, and very dodge-able. But it really isn’t all that long in the grand scheme, and just because an ability can be dodged doesn’t mean it isn’t good. At least in my opinion. Then again I used Hammer back when it was considered a trash weapon that only bads were hit by on Warrior, before switching to Necromancer, the king of slow cast times.
My favorite is when people try to dodge Focus #5 or Dagger #3, but they dodge immediately, and the effect lands after they dodge anyway. It’s like a sweet spot of “easy to dodge, but you can still screw it up if you simply reflex the animation”.
