PVE necro level 20+ help
I used a guide from guildwars2guru that really helped me level 78 and It still does well even on orr Im pulling 3 or 4 mobs together and melting face.
In Pve mm + staff works great.
Do not lie to him, in pve mm is unreliable since pets cannot be set to target specific mobs, do very little damage, don’t dodge so they never get out of aoes, sometimes dont attack mobs while you fight at all. Until the AI is fixed MM is not a good choice.
I tried MM for a couple levels in the 28-29 range and ran into the issues gamefreak described. Yeah, I died a couple times because of those issues, so I went back to the build Newsin described (after a few levels trying out a power build, which also got me killed a lot in over-pulls).
Doing what I can for DB during EU primetime
I’ve never had issues in PvE as a Necro. Use your minion in the best way you can do: meat shields.
When you are running MM, I suggest you to run with an high power build focusing on Death Shroud.
So, you should run something like 30-10-0-0-30, obviously you can change the traits as you want.
The important thing is that you have the Spite trait who gives you Might on Life Blast and the trait who let Life Blast pierce and cause vulnerability.
The only use of the minion is to take the damage for you when you are popping out incredible damage with your Life Blast while in Death Shroud. You can also put something more in Death Magic and use the trait who makes the minion more tanky (50% more life), but it isn’t really needed.
Try this build and you won’t have any problem in PvE.
There’s about 3 (or 2.5) builds.
There’s your standard condition build, very simple : Staff – Sceptre/Offhand with points in Curses then wherever, Spite for duration/power, or Death for Staff/Mark gains.
There’s your standard Power/Well build, Staff – Axe/Offhand or Dagger/Offhand points in Spite/Curses/Soul Reaping just for the stats and w/e traits you find desirable. Life Blast traits are good because you will be Life Blasting alot since it’s your strongest attack, rotate between putting marks/strong attacks on cooldown and then Life Blasting stuff to death. Then double wells for super aoe dmg.
There’s the Minion Master spec, 20 in Spite for the minion dmg, all minion skills, Axe/Focus for the vulnerability, then just go to down zerging things down with pets, re-summoning anything that dies, popping pet active skills for dmg/cc, good survivability/dmg that’s pretty faceroll.
I suggest staff – sceptre/dagger conditon damage build with 10 in curses 10 in Death Magic for larger marks. Use +conditon gear like ravager with Vit gems and vit/toughness accessory – get some cheap + condition dmg food too like veggie burger. Gather a bunch of mobs, throw down your marks and swap to sceptre and throw down your bleeds. You can probably take on 5 or more at a time and kill them quickly but I would start with 3 at once or something at first to get the hang of it.

Auto-attack a mob down with scepter 1 while you round up 5 to 10 mobs. Scepter 2 > Dagger 5 > Staff 2-3-4 > Death Shroud 2 > Epidemic. Use your wells to keep yourself alive with the protection and the healing.
Lich Form to take out tougher veterans and to take down champions. For champions your strat is to stack up bleeds and weakness until you need to heal, then you cast well of blood, lich form, summon jagged horrors and either let your minions tank for you if the champion hits really hard or tank for the minions so they help you DPS down the champ faster if it doesn’t hit particularly hard. Once Lich Form is about to fade, summon jagged horrors again and cast another Well of Blood and Staff 2 to keep them alive longer.
For gear your priority is Toughness > Condition > Power > Healing > Vitality.
