Made this for a friend, he loves GS, wasn’t sure whether to take staff or axe/focus.

I don’t play necro, but I know he prefers to be tanky and hates condi play, so any insight would be great.

Focus is terrible in PvP, so don’t bother with that. Go either Axe/Dagger or Axe/Warhorn if you don’t want staff.

Normally, I’d say go dagger instead of axe, but going triple melee with low mobility is asking for trouble.

Also, go with Runes of the Trooper rather than Reaper. Not only will this bring you much needed condi cleanse, but it also makes you bring team support.

0) right click and destroy Greatsword before u get reported for match throwing

1) its more condi than power flying around so switch weaklings shout for plague signet or instadie everytim.

2) reaper rune is fail since the spamable shouts chill anyways, on others +1 is meh….even grenth rune gives more chill actualyy…..but use a rune like traveler or a good power one, centaur hoelbrak strength pack soldier….

3) sigils, you need different swap sigils to trigger most effectively and blood sigil is bad on staff and trashsword since slow atack rate means less chance to trigger…..hydro leech int and quickness

power is still bad like you wont beat any of the top 20 builds so yeah…

Take Close to Death at the top of Spite instead of Spiteful Spirit.

On Greatsword: Sigil of Strength and Sigil of Hydromancy. Strength works with Blighters Boon and Hydromancy is just awesome on a reaper.

On Staff: Sigil of fire and Sigil of Energy, Vigor helps for extra dodges and the sigil of fire for some extra ranged AoE

The only Utility I’d change would be You are all Weaklings to Nothing can save you simply because you are in spite and have Chilling Victory, you are gonna be swimming in might. Without changing some significant stuff in the build that is my 2 cents.

Also Flumek.9043, put some effort into your post and at least look like you know how to spell properly, on some level.

YaaW is the one that really shouldn’t be changed, since it’s his stunbreak.

The build is actually quite good (as good as a GS power reaper build can be), but as someone said before I would swap one of the GS sigils for the quickness one. Chill on shouts is actually a good call cause with power builds you dont really stack that much chill and its really good for Chilling victory/Cold shoulder, but Strength rune would be better if you feel like doing more dmg. Imo I would leave Spiteful Spirit, even on a power build I think this trait gives you more than Close to Death due to the deffensive utility of perma retribution and cripple when being focused, and with power reaper unlike core necro you deal damage with high hitting skills. Problem is to land them, but if they hit you bascially kill the enemy no matter what.

EDIT: When facing condi teams I would swap either the heal or one of the shouts for Plague Signet tho.

I think you should drop GS for Dagger/WH for more reliable dps, mobility and CC with a air sigil (instead of leaching) on dagger (+ more corrup on dark pact).

The rune is not really good too, you could try soldier rune for a better sustain vs condition and support in team fight or a dps rune.

With your amulet you have more than 100% crit chance in shroud but you can already achieve this with an amulet with 0 precision if you use decimate defenses over chiling victory (executionner’s Scythe into Soul Spiral => lot of chill bolt => 25 stacks of vulnerability), so you could try valkyrie amulet, it will provide more burst in shroud with the ferocity.

Something like this:

Reaper runes are poor, especially if you’re already running Suffer and a GS. I’d run Trooper, like Drarnor posited for team support, Strength(Hoelbrek) for max damage, or Lyssa to drop a bunch of condis at once with your CttB and the synergy with your low cooldown heal.

I would swap the sigils of blood for Strength, since you’re running Blighter’s Boon. You’ll probably end up getting more healing and damage out of them.

On your GS, I would run Sigil of Agility for the weapon swap → Gravedigger hits. It will breathe new life into that weapon. If you switch amulets to something with less precision (valk), then also swap in a Sigil of Intelligence for guaranteed Gravedigger crits.

As for your amulet, you may want to switch to Valk or Marauder if you feel you’re missing punch. Zerker amulet can be fun, but you will die to a stiff wind.

Spiteful Spirit is an underrated trait, especially combined with Blighter’s Boon. If you notice a lack of ability to finish people off, though, definitely switch to Close to Death.

OP, if you friend is determined to do a power GS build, make sure he realizes that Necro/Reaper mobility is poor and chain CC’s = death whatever your build, so he should play with that in mind. Necro’s are even more vulnerable at the beginning of the match because they don’t have much life force to use their best survival mechanic, Shroud.

YSiM and Blighter’s Boon for lifeforce before that first engagement are clutch.

Pardon for non native lazy phone grammar. Please say If any point was unclear and needs a revised explanation.

Also, do not use strength sigil + GS.
I still stand by do not use GS at all, it is a legit handicap and the only reason you can win with it is if you drop 2 tiers below your usual level.
Back to strength sigil, it has slower hits compared to d/wh so you will NEVER proc it off CD – even if by a wonder you proc it every 1-2s with shroud skills – a simple leeching sigil wouldve done more dmg and healing RELIABLY.
I personaly can only recomend GS with quickness + int sigils, so your gravedigger actualy becomes a viable play option instead of just a fake skill to force dodges.

I wouldnt even use strength sigil on a d/wh set, as even in best max case scenarios you get equal healing out of it while losing basically 1 instant cast attack.
