Hi everyone o/,

I don’t really like to play MM, but what really demotivate me, is how our army looks like.

And back in gw1, the design was really better. Minions in GW2 are just skin add from “skeleton” (what makes a type of creature), and somes are so ridiculous.

The Bones Minions from example are just Rats

Just a friendly remember that our friends Elementalists got a redesign of their elementals in Beta Weekends, which were first, not cool.

So why not us ?

ArenaNet has really good game designers, but I think the actual design of Necromancer’s Minions can be way better.

Here somes example of how they look like back in GW1.

  • Bones minions : This compare to this wtf “bones” minion... Recycling Rats-Skeleton in game, is that that lazy ?…
    So I prefer the first one xD.
  • Blood Fiend : This is the one from GW2, because in the first Guild Wars, it had the same design of Bone Minion (which should be different :/).
  • Flesh Wurm :This is okay in my opinion.
  • Bone Fiend : This compare to that, even if that’s “okay” in gw2.
  • Flesh Golem : This is interesting. Even if I prefer the one from Guild Wars 1 (here), I am okay with it.
  • Jagged Horror : Since there is no more Shambling Horror, which was a really good gameplay idea…, we don’t have that. We just get a recycled Bone Minion, in really tiny version.
    Actually this is the only type of minion we can have more than one time.
    Woohoo, what a terrifying necromancer haha..

Yeah, so my problem is how chaotic can be our army, it’s interesting to add second skill from minions, but most are actually not fun to play/kinda useless.

Here somes examples of what I dislike :

  • Flesh Wurm, great escape, interesting concept, but damage are useless. Too slow attack speed.
  • Bone Minions : interest in explosion. So killing them. So why would you keep them alive ? Alive, they don’t deal that damage.
  • Bone Fiend : the activation of his skill is really random. It most of the time won’t be useful xD

I really doubt they will, but I’d be in full support of some visually updated minions… But lets be real. They can’t even fix them attacking and have cut art-work to producing just Outfits. I doubt new minions are in the works.

PS. I love the Blood Fiend. Too bad he’s not very good even in a full MM build (especially against targets that can stealth, kills HPS). I’d love if his appearance was swapped with any of the more useful ones so he could get some play. </3

I actually like the design of all of our minions except Flesh Golem. Sure it could be different, but I don’t really mind it.

  • Flesh Wurm, great escape, interesting concept, but damage are useless. Too slow attack speed.

Flesh Wurm actually deals basically the same DPS as Shadow Fiend/Bone Fiend, a bit more than both of them, but they will both proc an extra Vampiric Master siphon, and Bone Fiend has the extra projectile finisher. In practice though Flesh Wurm is probably the second highest DPS minion, hitting for about 1k every (slight more than) 3s or so, and ignoring stealth (or he used to, haven’t paid attention for a while). He’s one of the most reliable minions since no buggy AI and 1200 range. The only problem with his attack speed is his ridiculous cast animation, which effectively adds quite a bit of extra time to his AA.

  • Bone Minions : interest in explosion. So killing them. So why would you keep them alive ? Alive, they don’t deal that damage.

There will be reasons to keep them alive soon, to save the 100 toughness and allow them to siphon more conditions away, but with Death Nova especially there is no point, more DPS and better utility in instant Putrid Explosions.

  • Bone Fiend : the activation of his skill is really random. It most of the time won’t be useful xD

It modifies his AAs, but doesn’t change his AA timer. So basically the next time he AAs after activation he will immobilize (can happen twice if you don’t mess up when you use it with his attack timer).

Sadly this ^.

I often joke pessimistically that we as necro’s forgot to add brains to our flesh constructs when we made them because i n combat they will often just stand around.

PS: Seeing how they often just stand around being useless maybe they should make then grant a passive buff to allies ?

Let’s try to work on the broken AI of the minions before looking at remodeling the appearance. Putting a band aid on a leaking hose won’t help.
