Would be nice to see Greatsword introduced if the new expansion does come out. Possibly on Pax? What do you guys think?

I don’t know if it’ll be a greatsword, but I’m hoping for a lot of new skills. Not expecting, but hoping.

First, let them confirm that it’ll be an acutal expansion and not spin-off MOBA.

ANet hasn’t said anything at all regarding a spike in profits. That’s from professional speculators.

And funny, those speculations came after learning ANet had a major event coming at PAX. Not a coincidence, but also not actually a precursor to anything. These professionals, who have no connection to ANet, see a big announcement, then predict a spike in profits 6 months later. They don’t know any better than we do regarding the nature of Heart of Thorns.

There is more or less a guarantee that an “expansion” (or something similar) is coming. The speculators are the ones who tried to put a date to it, but afaik they essentially announced an expansion in progress during one of their calls a while ago. The unknowns are when it will happen and what that “expansion” will be.

I’m hoping for a new profession, new weapons, new areas, new skills and about 50 hours of personal story. Maybe 30 hours. I could be getting greedy.

I can dream can’t I? CAN’T I!?! No, you’re probably right. But a Ritualist would be awesome. I’m wondering what will happen. I haven’t been able to log in to do the new story stuff yet because I’m not home yet. Tengu race perhaps? Maybe another race?

I really hope they don’t do a new profession. They have such strong tendencies to make anything new very weak, so it’s hard to picture a new profession not being imbalanced. Plus, they have so many play styles that could be made relevant instead of focusing on adding a whole other class.

Personally I’d prefer a great axe & polearm be added to the game.

If they take a note from mesmer greatsword it could fill the roll of a ranged power weapon.

Dhuumfire, Sigil of Torment, Tainted shackles to name a few things that weren’t under powered when they came out. As much as I despise Dhuumfire I have to admit how good it used to be. And tainted shackles have always been good. Runes of Perplexity as well.

if HoT is an expansion i hope they do add some knew weapons to the classes.
I would hope for Mace over Greatsword because Maces are
a more supportive weapon
less used
now if the greatsword did what i want the mace to do id be fine with that as the second reason doesn’t matter to much to me however id say let the deciding factor be lore

I’m not really that keen on Greatsword Necros, I cannot think of all those peasants ruining the Necro theme with oversized crap.

One-handed Swords or Torches would fit much, much, much better with a specialization for Siphoning.

Profession Specialization

- Each profession can master a new specialization that grow the profession to something new like a secondary profession.
- Example: Rangers able to master druid abilities and become a druid. With druid they can use staff weapon and have access to a new heal skill, a new elite skill, new utility skills and new profession mechanics that change the way you play.
- Example: Necromancer & Greatsword. New specialization for necro that allow them to use the Greatsword weapon.
- We will tell you about each specialization between now and xpac launch.
