I’ve decided to roll with a power Wellomancer build on my Necromancer, likely in Knight’s/Emerald gear. Now I’m struggling with trait distribution and non-Staff weapon choices. Please post your ideas and back them up with a brief description if you’re so inclined to help me — and I’m sure many others — out a little bit.

Edit: The build is for WvW and does not necessarily need to have ground-targeted wells.

This is what i use in pve. It can be adapted to wvw pretty easily. You could take out some points in spite and put them in curses. But you want to keep atleast 20 in spite. If you really dont want to spec into DS then you can go 20/20/0/20/0

Dagger is a must have. Warhorn works well with the dagger but if you’re taking a staff then you could take dagger + focus.

30/20/20/0/0 or bust imo and use plague form. Take soldier’s and add berserker’s gear / gems until you feel just a little bit squishy. Blood sigils, runes are pretty meh so just go with gems. Secondary weapon set is either scepter / dagger for more AOE or dagger / whorn if you feel like you need to have a dedicated close range weapon to deal with melee.

Use plague form for your elite and trait into chilling darkness. That and greater marks are probably the only must have traits for your build. I would also recommend ground targeted wells and decreasing your well and staff recharge rates (0/20/20/20/0 with 10 free points to put wherever—maybe another 10 into curses for weakening shroud). I like running 30 in spite for smaller groups (30/20/20/0/0 or 30/30/10/0/0), but I think the well recharge is probably more important in larger battles.

As for a second weapon set, I would probably recommend axe/dagger to give you the aoe cripple and retaliation, aoe weakness, and extra condition removal. I like axe/focus for smaller groups.

except with spectral walk instead of signet of locust and sometimes I swap well of power for well of corruption.

all PVT except runes (water x2, monk x2 and earth x2). 100 vitality/70 toughness food and superior sharpening stones.

This is wat i use on WvW: semi glass cannon since im gona be using DS a lot casue it hits like a truck and gives me the surv i need if i get jumped by a D/D thief.
I take Chill of Death cause it gives me the final burst i need to take someone down rly quick when they get low since its instant cast and dosent share cd with the focuse skill, hits from 3k to 6k dependning on enemy buffs, i also testing Spectral Grasp in wvw and its rly fun to pull someone at 50% hp and burst him down with DaggerChill of the Dead.
This is not for solo roaming its more 10-15 man group, sometimes i change staff for axe/dagger to aply vuln switch to dagger pull someone and burst him down.

This is what I use, to very good effect. The LF generation makes this build super tanky. It is a well-bomber, but there is plenty of places you can edit, tweak, and change in the build to fit your playstyle and what you want to do.

Aside from the wells, the last utility skill can be changed to whatever suits you at the time, and I change it often depending on what I am likely to face.

Atm, I cast my wells up close and personal, but the trait lines are specced so that I can easily change my wells to ground-targeting. The wells give some protection, which can help you survive when you drop your wells surrounded by enemies.

I play mostly solo and small group, and sometimes even in a zerg, and I do fairly well in all 3 settings. In group battles, I am generally the last one on my team standing, due to the lifesteals, and incredible amount of lifeforce I generate.

The elite is also interchangeable, so you can really play it any way you want. xD

As you can see, there are many varieties of a wellomancer.
