Potentate - tPvP Build Tutorial
nice videos dam your voice is epic xD
wish the quality was better but nice for first try video, love the bhawb reference xD
My only complaint about the build is the lack of mobility except wh#5 which i pref to combo for the extra dmg/LF

Haha, you really have a classic movie villain voice. 1min into the video and I was imagining you saying: “I’ve been expecting you, Mr. Bond”
Just a suggestion from the gameplay video: don’t drop your wells instantly on top of people. You are running 2 wells that have very strong utility, but you will run into a fight that you have already won and drop all 3 of them, when at most WoS will secure the kills. You also have the tendency to drop wells in situations where the person can very easily get out of them; although in all fairness some of those people were terrible and just stood in the wells regardless. Just realize that that kind of play is going to render wells useless against better opponents.
I don’t use all of my wells against good players, and generally I just drop them down in a group fight in a large area around the point.
But then you have to remember, if they decided to not stand in my wells, then they lose the point. Which wins it for me either way. As I stated in my tutorial, you don’t have to be extremely conservative with your utilities.

Well bombing is an art, and you really have to invest some time playing a well build to get a feel for it. Depending on the foe(s) you might want to stack them, or chain them or spread them out situationally (i.e. hold WoS until an opponent is downed that can’t move out of the well and it is as good as a stomp with AoE damage added).
Nice effort.
+1
Tried this build a bit last night. It’s fun to say the least. I felt very effective in 1v1 situations but tended to go splat in anything else. Seems like it may be an good close point holder/roamer.
Only thing I really had trouble with was rangers who would dance in and out of my wells/range and have their pet eat me up. I just couldn’t keep them tied down long enough to do any substantial damage to them.

As I mentioned in my tutorial, Lich Form is there for that specific reason. If you’re being kited or out maneuvered, Lich bomb them.
I’m gunna give this build a try, and i agree with elva your voice is sounds awesome lol. You should consider making more vids people will actually watch them all the way trhough just cuz voice is not boring.

I might just do that. Thanks
ok i tested this for about 10 games, its a decent build but feels very gimmicky and imo is not the powerful build u spoke of. Problem im having with this build is if u fight 2 or 1 opponent with with any kind of interrupts they can mess up your rotation before you get wail off(worst was mesmer with greatsword who just used the wave to knock me bak wen i got close, even with dark path which was dodged a lot btw). You hav no stunbreakers which made me rely on the doom a lot but i still foudn myself gettign smacked around and chained cc. And on occasion when i had no life force i got bursted down by a theif which i could not escape thnx to no stunbreaks. You get bursted down extremely fast(sometimes even before i can get well of darkness off) which made me bad in team fights. Also many if not most opponents in team fights were smart enough to leave the wells adn range me. And lich form had its uses but ended up being the usual kill me now button! Lich forms auto (while powerful)is also unreliable as opponenets used terrain to obstruct it and mess it up. Also anything with a teleport can escape before you get wail off. And once your burst is gone your weaksauce, so if they did manage to escape they can come bak and destroy you. I did burst people down here and there whcih was fun. Feel free to let me knwo if im doign sumthign wrong.

Most of your problems seem to be fighting opponents alone and allowing them to go at range. This is a point capture build, it is meant to fight on point. If your opponents leave the point, you capture it, they lose. If they stay on the point, you kill them with wells, they lose. I don’t know exactly how you’re attempting to use the build, but if you like, you can contact me ingame and if you’re in NA, I can help you.
ill message u sometime then. I tried to stay on point but sumtimes u get rangers, engis or mesmers who just dont go in the point and keep hitting you at range. Which makes me try to come after them. If i dont i keep takign ranged damage until i die. If i go after them i often get knockbaked. and with minimal survivability im in a bad state before i can actually get the rotation off. Which is all very avoidable if i do. It does work great against non ranged people however.
There are plenty of other players who can nuke a point just as strongly as a necro can, and a bunker can afford to pop the defensive CDs to stay on point through the 5 seconds of pressure you put out. I’d bet this build shines in 1v1 point assault where you can drop the wells, get the decap (or stomp if they stay) then go on, but if you are the one on defense they can just stand off point for a few seconds to wait for your light show to finish. That is why you can’t just drop your wells willy-nilly.
It certainly is not a defensive build, it’s purely offensive.
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your build.
It is always great to see ppl develop their own builds, actually think for themselves and make their builds work. That is really missing for the most at these forums, but i am not going to rant over that (sry btw for my english).
The build itself is also great working imo, it “just” needs training. It is not a typical caster-build or -playstyle, which is good and more challenging. Meself did some “adjustments” which just suit me better, i swaped some traits and such, but the core remains. Again, thx
Pretty fun build, just ran it through my dailies, did better then expected!
Thanks for sharing!
