First, I’d like to to say these are either things I’ve seen and liked or things I think would help us.

Consume Conditions: Return to original state and make it independent of ability groups like Shelter on Guardian.
Every Other Heal Skill: Buff to make more attractive next to Consume Conditions
Plague: Make Plague a Well
Curses Line:
-Merge Path of Corruption with Furious Demise (Curses Master Minor) and put it into the Curses Master Minor slot
-Merge the Increased Fear duration from Fear of Death into Terror
-Create a new trait to fill the gap left by Path of Corruption that benefits non condition builds investing into Curses
-Remove the negative effect on Master of Corruption
Soul Reaping line:
-Swap the places of Soul Marks and Vital Persistence
-Merge the Fear Duration part of Fear of Death onto Terror and the Fear on down effect to Reaper’s Protection
-Create a new trait in the Soul Reaping adept line to fill the gap made by Fear of Death
-Move Unyielding Blast to the master tier.
Death Magic line:
-Make Soul Comprehension baseline and put something more impactful in its place
-Merge Reaper’s Protection with the Fear on down effect of Fear of Death

I don’t think these changes are too much because every other class is being buffed in a way that’ll leave us in the dust if we aren’t up to par. Most of the changes I have posted have been with regards to Condition Necromancers because that is what I know best. If you have any additional ideas or vehemently disagree with anything, leave your opinions here. I want this to reflect what people think should be changed. It is clear to practically everyone that Necromancers are in a really bad spot right now, and it helps the devs to know what we want and to have it all compiled in one place.

Then there’d be an empty spot in the adept line, which still leaves us with the same issue

Step 1- Fire a load of staff. They have turned a franchise that I would tell my friends and family about into a flaming train wreck where every month I am continuously befuddled and enraged at their “work”, and I use that term lightly.

Step 2- Hire as much of the departed staff as you can back, including the other founders. The heart and soul of Arena Net is gone. Mike O’Brien has shown he cannot captain this ship alone.

The dev team has proven they can’t balance a 2×4 on a cinder block.

Wow honestly I agree with all of these changes. Except the lich form thing. That would be 30s every 150 with spectral mastery. But besides that, two big thumbs up.

The new curses master could go with the weakness theme of the enfeeble GM. I chose vulnerability application because it both benefits the Necro in terms of PvE support as well as sticking to the hybrid condi/debuffing theme of the curses line.

Here is an issue even before coming up ways to fix the problems:

Getting a development team to read what people are complaining about. Let your voice be heard in various of different website in case they miss. A lot of the times, the developers don’t seem to check the forums often.

Having to choose between Vital Persistence and Unyielding Blast is a big nerf to a lot of power builds.

no it isnt at all.. the spectral mastery trait gives you way more lifeforce than you loose while not having vital persistence on. think of it.. you get 18s of spectral armor on a cooldown of 40s, whithout this trait it is 12s out of 50s
not even mentioning the good protection uptime you can get by combining this with minor 3 in Deathmagic

Unyielding blast doesn’t matter. They should just make it give vuln only and give piercing to DS 1 baseline. Because piercing does NOTHING for RS 1. And assuming in the future there are other types of shrouds, then this would be the most logical change.

in pvp and especially in pvp any build i have seen so far runs with spectral armor or spectral walk.. that will make up vor VP already since you already got spectral armor for free from your Soul Reaping minor 2..
VP on the other side decreases the degeneration per second while in DS from 4% to 2% good in 1v1 but almost makes no difference in group fights.. just think of that

or they could simply swap vital persistence AND Fear of death to Adept for soulmarks and unyielding blast so both problems were solved

For Curses, I say, if they want condition juggling play, let’s accept and capitalize on it.
Let’s bring back old GW1 themes, let Curses have strong, viable options for everyone, Condition, Support or Power. Give it a little risk/reward mechanic.

For Death Magic, let us hit the theme. I really like what they did with Corruptor’s Fevor, now tweak Unholy Sanctuary, master minor and master major tier a bit.

As for your SR placement changes, I disagree. We actually just need to buff/replace Unyielding trait and Fear of Death and we have very solid specialization.

I also proposed to capitalize on our interrupt capability and reward it in Dhuumfire with bonus burning.

Spectrals shouldn’t be required for a LB build, and without this change they aren’t even close to required.

The big problems are still:

(1) No scaling defenses
(2) No defense against ranged
(3) Bad access to defense against CC & immobilize spam
(4) Bad weapon skills
(5) No mobility, even while broken z axis teleports rule Pvp.

These trait changes were never going to fix that.

But I’m very excited about the new curses line. Anybody who builds precision is going to love it. I think we’ve got two decent trait lines now (Soul Reaping and Curses).

Blood depends on the numbers. We’ll see if it turns out to be good. But anet seemed to abandon “necromancer sustain is life force.” for every build. That’s progress. Its a big deal if healing power and celestial can work on necromancer. That’s something that can work if numbers are tweaked (easy).

Spite is a mess. There is a signet trait that looks good on paper but sucks if there is any kind of internal cool down (but signets are awful). There’s chill of death competing against a troll axe trait (how ironic is it that a bunch of people who ont use axe will take axe training). The rest is garbage or boring.

Then there’s death.

Death looks really weak.

(1) Soul Comprehension still exists,

(2) look at your choices of master traits: (1) A boring toughness to power stat increase that synergizes with zero existing armors/amulets (2) a super long cool down stun to fear proc [hideously underpowered compared to, say, stability on dodge] and (3) a minion trait that doesn’t reliably work.

(3) look at your GM traits: (1) Unholy Sanctuary, which I think is fantastic but is controversial around here, (2) a minion trait, and (3) a convoluted trait where you can get a boring minor stat increase if you spam conditions.

I agree with 90% of your post, but this little gem kept me alive in a zerg situation with my soldiers armor. No escapes = dead in some situations (lag spikes make positioning hard) and having the little extra power (10% currently – 7% and 14% soon) would lets me still hit hard enough to do good damage. I almost lasted as long as guardians with my old setup only loosing about 200 power for over 1k armor. If you were to redesign these traits I would like to keep this one. Boring or not, I actually liked this trait.

I’ll put these changes on the OP as soon as I get on my computer.
-removed suggested Lich Form change: With the trait, which has been made far less painful to slot, Lich Form would have too much uptime with its original duration.
-unyielding blast moved to master major: There were quite a few requests for this, but I’m still open to moving this back because I can’t think of any builds that don’t use spectral skills except for a wvw well necro, especially since Lich Form is now a spectral skill.

Ideally, I see the three choices on a trait tier to work best when we have already picked the traits that we can’t afford to pass up for our builds, and the additional choices become more of a luxury of personal preference. For example, a terrormancer would take terror, vital persistence, and spectral mastery, and every choice after that is a luxury.

Also, don’t underestimate the percent increases on the death magic traits. They can make a big difference.

The point of this thread is to adress problems created by the update, and while great stability, mobility, and weapons are things we want, they are not issues caused by the update, and they have been theorycrafted to death.

Lastly, I’m not going to add any trait suggestions unless I see other people giving them a thumbs up since those are the things the devs will least likely listen to.

I would be happy with four changes.

1- return consume condition to previous and allow it to be traited for the cooldown reduction and THEN add the vulnerability. That is fair. As you have it now it is absolutely uncalled for. You are forcing us to either take the trait to reduce the cooldown and have vuln plus an unknown random condi, or suffer a longer cooldown and still take vuln. In what world do you think that is ok?

2- don’t touch plague, it’s the only condi elite worth crap, yet it’s the condi build that gets hurt the most. Simply don’t touch it. Following the changes its terrible for condi builds. Now we are stuck using racial elites given that lich form and golem don’t help a condi build.

3- take a closer look at dhuumfire. If you’re going to nerf burning you have our dhuumfire being less damage than a scepter auto attack given the slow and predictable auto attack of DS #1. It should be 2 stacks of burning minimum for 10 seconds. Take a look at the minor trait you gave eles. Don’t you think you could up it a bit? Condi Necros that take it will not benefit from it unless they are condi and condi builds will actually lose dmg trying to stack this with the slowest attack in the game. Condi builds are the only build that will use it but condi builds can’t stay that long in ds as they have trouble generating life force. The dmg needs to be increased. Look at the power creep in other classes.

4- terror needs to be looked at as a minor which scales off condi dmg. Without it condi builds are just weak. With it they do reliable damage if and only if they are condi focused. Hell, change it so only high condi builds benefit. You gave similar class defining traits to ele. Problem is, it competes with huge game changing abilities that are also defining to condi builds in pvp, and PVP only. Pve does not matter.

Also verify your team for the ridiculous bias it shows to certain classes. Anyone with intelligence can see it… And it is offensive.

Agree. This trait is one of my favorites and its getting interesting enough with the change.

Synergizes so well with knights for any potential power based bunker builds.

I’ll agree with you that dhuumfire is still underwhelming with DS 1, but unfortunately, its fate is sealed because with RS 1, it hits a lot faster. Personally, If I can’t fit both Vital Persistence and Spectral Mastery onto my build, I will run foot in the grave because it’ll be far more useful when I can only afford to pop into DS for a short time.
