I’m thinking of swapping my necro to a power build in raids. I’m planning on using the blood support build of metabattle with chonomancer runes over scholar to help stack quickness for the group, along with a few other changes. Would this be a wise investment, or is the 2 seconds of quickness per wells not enough to justify a power reaper?

Err why Valkyrie? Beserker is going to be just straight better.

The usefulness of quickness wells is going to depend on your raid’s Mesmer (if said raid is using a Mesmer)

I’m assuming 25 voun stacks on my target at all times, giving me an additional 50% crit on the target.

Too much Berserker is wasting Stats on Power Reaper. On Raid Bosses you’ll have 50% Crit Chance Base thanks to Decimate Defenses. Add 20% to that due to Fury and you have 70% overall. Then you also get Spotter and Banner of Discipline. Both together should give around 20% ( correct me if I’m wrong ) So you just need to fill up 10% using Berserker.

When you’ve done that you can go and use Valk Gear, thus not wasting Stats and gaining Vitality.

If you use then the Superior Sharpening Stone you get more Power out of it because of this Effect “Gain power equal to 4% of your vitality” Its not a big difference but every Stat Point of Power helps.^^

The real question is “Will you get accepted into a Raid party on a power Necro?”

I’m hopping to help supplement the chronomancer’s quickness with our own, since the change to signet of inspiration limited their ability to grant the boon to the party permanently. My hope is that a group thinking of taking 2 chronomancers can take a chronomancer and a necromancer, since we probably offer more damage than a second chrono, probably.

as much as i love power reaper. its sadly not good enough to be brought for one of the four dps slots. on another note the quickness from chronomancer is just quickness for yourself, thus you are better of with schoolar runes. But even than your dps isnt on par with an ele, thief, guardian or revenant.

Thanks for the information though, thought the rune applied the buff to all that were affected by the well. I guess I’ll just shelf my necromancer until called for.

Berserker or Valkyrie really doesn’t matter, if you’re somewhat comfortable with the encounters you won’t really need the extra vitality and you don’t need more life force as you have enough LF generation and going into shroud as power costs you some dps anyway.
If you want a second set though or exclusively want to raid with the character, you might as well mix valkyrie in, it wouldn’t hurt you at least.
//Oh yeah the sharpening stones perform a little bit better with valk mixed in, forgot about that for a second.

With higher vitality it should be easier to keep Scholar bonus as it depends on your health percentage as well.

And since I don’t like to waste Stats I’ll go for Valkyrie. Better Damage as Berserker ( even if the Difference is low ) and more HP. I would say its worth it. ( now the overall DPS needs to compare with other pure DPS Builds )

Valkyre is definatly better and it was the only set I could reach 28k dps but that still is very bad compared to other classes. For pugs necro brings good heals and cc but others do it better and every raid group is somehow aiming for a new record run. Could be hard to find a group

28k DPS. This on Realistic…. That would be really nice A Pity that this is only obtainable with all Buffs.

Anet make it happen. Give Reapers another Reason to not dig their own Graves. Buff them.

Spotter is 150 prec, banner is 170prec, so total 320precision. At a rate of about 21 precision = 1% crit chance it’s a tad over 15%, so you want ~15% crit chance at least on power Reaper for raids

And, yes WTB GS buffs or just power in general, but I think GS is weak everywhere in the game really, so it would make sense to hit there.
