Hi all,

I was under the impression you needed Prec/tough/condition damage gear for CD necromancer.

I play wvw mainly and the only way to aquire the prec/tough/condition armor is through orr vendors or dungeon tokens.

Is power/vit/cond viable for a wvw conditionmancer? I ask because one of the traits in spite give a 66% bleeding chance on crit hits.

Thanks
Ash

Necro trait lines are a hybridized mess.

The profession structure seems to be leading us to stat for Conditions AND Precision AND Crit Dmg AND Power all at the same time, while somehow leaving room for defensive stats.

Hence the multi-page long, continually tweaked, constantly revised, never quite optimal “Critmancer” thread.

What’s probably intended to be some kind of “synergy” ends up being a sloppy exercise in frustration and gear swapping.

Ahh it does seem that way

Would you say that power/vit/cond damage is viable for w3 though? or would i definately need some precision and toughness in there somewhere?

Thanks

Viable? Absolutely! In fact, it may work better if you don’t mind being more aggressive in your use of the Fury on DS trait and a touch of Precision in your jewelry or runes.

I loaded my necro up with a full set of carrion and it’s working pretty well. The spec is 0/30/20/20/0. I primarily use s/d // staff. I’d imagine a mix of rampager/knights would work pretty well too.

Is the only real reason people even go for precision is to capitalize on the traits that proc conditions on crits?

That is why i was under the impression.

Can I ask why you take 0 traits in spite? Seems some useful condition traits at 30 tier

He needs the points for survival. He skipped the Power line so he could take stuff in the Toughness and Vitality lines.

If you like being more of a melee conditionmancer (Mark on Dodge, Enfeebling on Death Shroud) definately suggest Geomancer Sigil, overtime with optimal use could outdo Earth Sigil easily and isn’t crit dependant.

Might related sigils, corruption, or any of the extra CC options work ok. You’ll still have some crit anyway from Curses tree so yeah.

People overrate crit with condition necro’s only reason I use Rabid stats is because it has toughness, that’s it. The minor trait for bleed on crit is horrible outside of Life Transfer use.

I use Carrion gear exclusively (perhaps I could use a combination for better effect though) and I feel I am extremely strong in WvW. One on one perhaps not so much, but in any group battle (like pretty much all battles) I have the tank to only die when I either make a mistake or the enemy zergs us. A high health means you can shrug off conditions, not that they are really a problem for us anyway. Thieves will do decent damage to you but as long as you are not alone you can live just fine.

Your damage is quite respectful, and while staff 1 doesn’t have that great scaling, the extra power helps you kill siege from a distance. (Remember staff 1 has something like a 1400-1500 effective range)
