So yeah I wanna create a power build but not sure which stats/runes are the best.

Most I’ve heard about is Valkyrie or Berserker with Scholar Runes but not sure which is best…

Also is Axe now better than Dagger to use alongside Greatsword?

Note: I’ll be playing mostly pve and pvp.

For PvE, just go Berserker with Dagger+Focus and GS, Scholar runes.
Axe isn’t better.
Berserker+Valkyrie mix is something to consider if you’re playing in optimized groups where you know you get enough precision buffs from other players in order to make up for the precision you lose, and sadly power necro isn’t exactly in the meta.

The only power build I see in pvp is a Minion Mancer. Power is really bad in PvP unless you’re really, really good on Necro. And even then I wouldn’t use it. Laughably easy to kill. Sad is more like it. Metabattle will have what the top players use in Conquest, and you can fine tune it to your style. Though the one thing about Meta builds is that good players who know all the classes top builds(aka good players) will know what to expect. I’d only use power for WvWing. Well Necros are always wanted in WvW zergs.

I couldn’t say for PvE, not my thing tbh, but I’d imagine Viper is the way to go if you want ppl to take you along. Search for Brasil on YT, he’s the only PvE Necro I know of. Or just search YT for recent Necro/Reaper Vids and see what the PvE-ers are using. See what looks fun(while bringing something to the party), and go from there.

Power won’t work in spvp, but will work in wvw.

For pve it depends very much on what you’re doing. Many fractals (cliffside, uncategorized) where you have to keep your distance axe is fine and probably a good idea, whereas something like molten boss or the old tom fight you’re better going with dagger or greatsword.

Carry all the weapons and switch between them as needed.

I do like durability runes to boost some tankiness outside of raids.

I think you are forgetting that necro literally needs no precision Which means apples to apples Valkery is a much better option. More ferocity and power and more vitality. How is Mara better? I mean even if you mix Valk with berserkers how is Mara better?

Necro easily gets 100% crit rate with 0 precision in pve and more vitality means more life force to tank damage with. I think you got something confused there. If anything you would go berserkers over valk but not mara….eww toughness stat on necro is poop Vat is better in pve

In wvw I usually play what is generally considered a build that’s far to the side and not on many necro players radar. Old school mid/long range power with no minions that uses wells and marks as well as ranged pressure in the form of death shroud and lich form for its spike damage potental and life force generation. The main armor gear stats I use for this is marauders or wanderer’s depending on how much damage im taking and the group makeup. Now this means I give up some damage but dead dps don’t dps at all. This said im one of those players that feel that the 200% builds that make you the unstoppable force and the unmovable object wrong and if you want one you have to give up some of the other.

As far as pve i usually run a chilling reaper variant of said build using the same armor which is nice due to the chilling being really nice in pve atm. The only major letdown to either of these builds is alack of stability and it requires a higher amount of environmental awareness, but that’s what a group is for to cover what your lacking.

Depends on how you want to play the spec: Because of the fact that you have to balance between a large number of different stats (Power, Precision, Ferocity, Toughness, and Vitality) it is most optimal to create a Power build for a specific purpose, such as running in a WvW organized group or for Fractals. In general, I like to aim for 2400 Armor, 30% Crit chance, 2300 Power, 22k HP, and 210% Crit Damage. All of the leftover points can go wherever you want them to go, like getting yourself up to 2500 Power, 40% Crit Chance, and 230% Crit Damage.

As for Runes, you can’t really go wrong with Pack, Strength, or Scholar, but I’m a pretty big fan of Durability to help shore up the defensive stats. Also has good synergy with Blighter’s Boon.
