Hello!

I was thinking about trying greatsword, power reaper in pvp, because i dont like the condis playstyle.
The other weapon would be dagger/dagger perhaphs.

I just need help with the utility skills and traits, to make a viable build. Elite would be chill to the bone.

I haven’t much experience in post HoT pvp, but from what I’ve heard Necro gs is laughable bad as a pvp weapon.

Don’t do it. There are no power necro builds that work for pvp, believe me I’ve tried for years since i also dont like the way condi plays, many others have tried. You are better off switching classes if you want to run a power build.

If you run Marauder, you will get eating alive within the first 20 seconds of a team fight and that is if you run rise with spec armour with several condi cleanses

The power necro build that saw good usage pre-HoT was the signet build with dagger/warhorn. Post-HoT, you’ll be a liability without going condi reaper. Would it be fun or “viable” in lower tier pvp or in unranked? Sure. But your team will expect you to be condi, and everybody will laugh when they see you wielding a GS.

There are classes/builds you won’t be able to handle effectively using a power build. This isn’t counting condi reapers that’ll eat you alive when you encounter them. They’ll shame you back to your hole and make you switch build very very fast. I’ve been there.

Unfortunately all the tools that power reaper needs to survive (Weakness,boon corruption, chill uptime) condi reaper has in larger amounts…which are ALSO the tools that are needed to KILL power reapers. So condi reaper is pretty much a hard counter to power reaper.

And because they have more of those tools they are better suited to dealing with other classes than power reaper. Making it superior both in terms of power vs condi reaper as well as reaper vs everything else.

It also does more reliable damage. “shrug”

You can play some power versions in unrank and lower mmr tiers,

but if you use greatsord in pvp you deserve to be reported for afking.

If people die to a reaper using Greatsword in sPvP, then it’s a player problem. It shows you the lack of knowledge of opponents you’re fighting more than anything.

Hoelbrak runes, maybe strength
staff, dagger/warhorn.
reaper, spite, soul reaping trait lines

utilites – consumer conditions, rise, flesh wurm, plague signet/suffer. Maybe even switched it up with spec armour and well of power

Dont make me laugh dude, i dont knnow what you mean by high tier MMR especially when players dont know their MMR but in high division league which I play at, power necro fails.

Even Holl who has a wonderful power necro vid im fairly certain plays condi in PvP

Since this thread was created ive seen an increase in power necros in pvp and they always die within 10 seconds especially since i play power revenant and everyone looks for necros.

Nearly everything counters power necro so if you are fine in PvP then you are probably below ruby division or avoiding team fights. You may have your good moments, maybe even good matches but for the most part Power necro is bad and as Nemesis put it “a win more” build

Okay well for starters I do not play in lower tier division. I actually don’t care about divisions but if you must know I’ve been legendary in all seasons.

My credentials (because you sneed convincing):

My pvp team has scrimmaged with top teams like abjured, apex prime, zero counterplay, Ed ream etc and won. We didn’t beat abjured but we came kitten close and it is on my YouTube channel. We were knocked out of pro league qualifiers in the final round by Team Pz. It was not a blowout

And I’ve also won more than a few Academy gaming tournaments.

Now onto the build.

No I do not use dagger. Main hand dagger does not synergize well with reaper, if I’m going to get up in someone’s face I’m doing it in shroud. I use axe warhorn staff. And I don’t use those runes. But congratulations on naming the only power heavy amulets. It uses marauder or demolisher. Consume conditions is an option and plague signet is for every necro build. All the rest that you mentioned do not fit my build. And I continually do well with it.

Axe warhorn staff, ive seen this before. thats a back line power build. Ofcourse naming all the power ammys isnt saying much thats my point, making a power build is not rocket science.
A dagger power reaper can out play that build but i guess that isn’t the point. Do you have a video of handling focus fire with that build?

Yea whenever you can post one up, might learn something. Usually necros aren’t carriers like condi warrior, mesmer or scrapper so i have to see this to believe it.

A full match though not just highlights because those are misleading.

It has been a rough time, especially against berserkers this patch…every other class has so much sustain now, power reaper has been failing so much for me!

Power Reaper still dead, Berserker is just one of your problems, theres Herald, chrono, Scrapper, DH, Daredevil and i don’t mean 1v1.

Anet still trying to prove that Power Necromancer can be slow with no active Ds and still work so if you stick around for another year or so, they might deem it worthy enough to break it (like half the other classes in the past) so it can enjoy the spotlight for a few months

The only way i kept my sanity recently was that i started treating gw as the joke it is, but might as well share my gem.

Its no staff, allowing the 7s shroud recharge. It really changes how the flow feels which was refreshing. Mostly i use it for better positing or double leap escape if i have HP, its more mobility for the dagger set and a more often available counterpressure set if they dive on you in axe.

spite 313 soul 322 reaper 223…….a/d+ d/wh, mix of usual utilities.
Blighters boon hp doesnt make me live longer and lifeforce i get enough anyway, so i feel im landing and doing more work with the 15% dps boost.
Spiteful spirit also seems more reliable and better overall and cz synergie.

power necro is UP , but at the same time it can be done. Power necro is not noob friendly at all try daredevil or warrior/beserker. The handfull of skilled power necros know each other and do not share builds with the public. You have to be sharp mechanically in this game if you want to play it.

Figured I’d post this here, I’m sure people have tried it before but I think this is one of the best power necro builds available right now, at least I’ve been having success playing it. Shuts down condi classes hard.
