Hello fellow Necromancers!

Recently I haven’t been playing GW2 at all because of my laptop dying on me * cough * dropped it * cough *, but I managed to get everything back together and join the PvP world again. I think most people know me for my videos (YouTube), but more importantly for my powermancer (skillzzz). I’ve been playing GW2 now, for one and a half years and throughout this period I’ve always mained necro, and specifically power.

Been playing it for ~500 hotjoint matched (before I learned that ranked PvP existed >.>), and after that ~700 ranked/unranked. Now in these 1200 matches I’ve learnt a lot and I like to believe that I’m a pretty decent necro :P Playing one of the hardest classes to play in PvP can a real pain sometimes, but at around 1k matches I really noticed how everything went a lot…. ‘smoother’.

…kinda make me sad. Not that these players are bad, but PvP is currently a somewhat hard place to be as a necro, and that can frustrate players (like the above). I just like me necro too much to have ever given up, and that’s the reason why I think I’ve been succeeding a lot more currently. I don’t expect it to get much better from now on though. The celengineer, celementalists and shoutbows are still a pain in the a** to fight against and especially for powermancers.

Now, powernecro’s have never been really utilized in high tier PvP, with the exception of shiziso (idk how to type his name) and of course team Radioactive. Most people wouldn’t choose a necro for their PvP team, which is fully understandable, but at the same time I see too many people jump to conclusions and say things like: ‘Power necro in tpvp? lulz go to hotjoint’ usually just because they read it somewhere.

This isn’t a ‘plz buff powa nec plz, k thx’ thread, but more a ‘OMG look at what a Necro can achieve when played somewhat right!’ (Not saying I don’t want buffs, but you get the point :P)

Lol, as usual an impressive watch, Holl.

I have no criticisms to make for obvious reasons, well played and fun to watch, so I’ll just say good job and the more talented Necro’s I have to aspire to match the better.

Also, on the subject of Necro being difficult to play, it’s a big part of the reason I enjoy the profession. I’m not a huge fan of faceroll things in any video game and GW2 is the very same. I’m passionate about my Necro because it takes patience to get it right and the pay off feels so much better. Buffs are always nice but as long as we don’t take any nerfs I can live with the state we’re in.

P.s. To any one else that watches this video… See how fast his health goes down? Yeah… Just because we have two health bars doesn’t mean we’re not squishy. I hate when people claim it’s easy to play when you have two health bars because it’s a lot less OP than it sounds…

I gotta say, you’ve improved your gameplay a lot compared to your older videos. Mabye it’s just your hardware upgrade, either way it’s nice(r to watch now.

As for power necro in general, I like to run 4 4 0 0 6 with 2 spectrals so that if people focus me I can tank them for a good 10 seconds or so. Power necro can be ridiculously tanky for being in zerker, as long as you build correctly.

Also, I see you brought some special guests, but you didn’t invite me to the party. Guess I should stop being in gvgs so much hehe. Still looking for my duels that I know you recorded

interesting to watch but after maining necro for a couple years and playing a lot of thief past few months, i can say that necros are not meant to be glass. Against a good thief and no backup, glass necro will die 99% of the time. Like Warlord said necros can be tanky and still be zerker.

Like I said, old laptop = dead, no recovery possible atm
But yes, I made you a promise and I’ll stick to it!
As for Fleshy, I use it as a last resort or when it turns into a 2v1. If neither of those things happen, wurm stomp What else do you reccomend I use it for?

Agree with you on the spectrals, I just like them big red numbers too much though

Thanks flow, I agree. It’s definitely the hardware. Everything is 60 FPS now

Yuupp, same here. Necro requires a lot more skill then most classes, and once you get that skill somewhat down you can do amazing things!

Holl I think warlock just means using it more using it more due to its low cooldown and burning it when your getting pressured after burning your offensive cooldowns. Being able to use it as a stomp technique is extremely useful and rare in necros but it shouldn’t be the focus of the skill.

:( I’ve dueled quite a lot a good teefs and won (not meant to brag) 60-70%. Mainly due to all the CC’s and quick dagger AA’s. I’ve dueled parma D/P stealth teefs, and those are a pain though.

D/P are rather easy.

The secret to beating Powermancer as a Thief in unrestricted area is just to go full troll and stay at maximal possible range with blinds and wait for sigil procs.

P/D+SB power trolls work wonders.

Just kite the kitten out of necro. Unless you’re something like Medi Guard, then you can play with a blindfold and still have the advantage.

That was really very annoying to watch, fortunately the thief wasn’t very good and only knew how to go into stealth. I was about to go rage mode for you when i realized something, you might just be a little too squishy.

his build is better than yours for spvp. Which is prbably why it is widely agreed upon that we are not attrition even if you use US which is still dog kitten. If you are on NA I can show you why.

I’d rather just burst someone down quickly and survive with good positioning and teleports, than out sustain them. But that’s just me.
btw, how much do you trust anet? See not that much, so that’s why I don’t believe them when they say necro is the master of attrition. Ele/warrior with those signets are way better at it >.>

Just recently came back and had been playing my guard/war/mes in pvp and finally decided to try out power necro. I have to say I’m having a blast and find it hard to believe that we didn’t see it played at all in the WTS which makes me a bit sad, but that said I’ve been absolutely crushing with Power necro in pvp atm. If you slip up you can be bursted in a sec but i’ve had multiple 2v1 and 3v1 on point where i took them down and just flip out at my desk lol.
