I’ve run a pure condition build on my necromancer since launch. I have Fractal progression on a few toons which I use to farm a bunch of Pristine Relics when I need them for a new build or whatever.

Anyway, I’ve been feeling more and more like a drag on my Necro as of late, so I want to try a Power build.

Anyone have any traits, runes/sigils, utilities suggestions? In terms of armor of thinking generally full berserker with a couple knights or valk pieces.

I’m currently working with a skeleton of 20/0/0/0/30, can’t decide where I want those last 20pts.

Power builds are actually extremely flexible for pve….Honestly you can just about go 30 points into any of the trees except death magic and curses. Personally, I run 10/0/10/30/20. Dagger/Horn, Axe/Focus. Well of blood, well of suffering, well of corruption, and well of power, and lich form. Have also messed around a bit with 30/0/10/30/0, same weapons and utilities. I go full knight’s armor with full cavalier trinkets, and use food and sharpening stones to boost my power. This gear set is mainly for wvw and I don’t feel like getting a second set for pve. I would just say go with what looks good to you and try to have fun. I can say with certainty though that the build I listed is very powerful in terms of damage and survivability and in my opinion, wells are absolutely the only way to go for a power necro in pve and wvw.

I’m more of a PvPer, but if it’s damage you want, 30/x/x/x/30 is the way to go. I usually put the last 10 point to Curses, but that’s just me.

Deathly Perception is just amazing..

I put those spare 10 in Death Magic to pick up Ritual of Protection. In a tight spot, that AoE protection really pulls through. Though putting that 10 in Blood Magic to pick up Transfusion can also be a big help.

I don’t have opinions. I only have facts I can’t adequately prove.

For fractals id say 20 into blood, 20% off wells and Transfusion (2.6k heal each time you use life transfer) are life savers.
So here are 2 builds: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fQAQNAW3djMaV6ZambM8JkJFdz4ApIXqFqHrD78hA-jwyAYLBZ0VyoPCxEIMqAUyrIas1zioxqrxUuER127hoZyTtUARMGA-e
Burst with axe/focus (and you get around 25% LF), swap to staff, mark drop (and using putrid to transfer over cpc weakness if you used it).
And my personal setup in case of a group that has enough zerkers but the guys seem to be falling onto their bums so much that i wonder how their behinds aint flat (utilites and runes can be swapped out ofc on both builds depending on preference and encounter – like sgrasp, sarmor and swalk on the harpy parts to just run across with the guys while pulling the mob aggro onto yourself), but the setups are for the general strengths necros can do over/with other professions

For the 10 into DM that the bloody spider said, it helps, but in general people will have a nice amount of protection uptime or good enough positioning in any fractal above 10 where it actually starts counting a little.

When life gives you lemon, ask if its from a anime or manga.

Corrected that for you.

Curses is very good for power builds. The 25 point minor is majorly underated. And Banshees Wail makes your warhorn a dps monster.

I suppose that is true, I just personally feel like the GM traits in the other trees overshadow the Curses ones for DPS. I probably wouldn’t put more than 25 into curses personally but it’s certainly viable. I do put 25 into Curses for my WvW power spec though.
