Q:

How much precision should I have, considering I will be using hemophelia and perhaps sigil of earth, with dire armor? (I don’t plan on using a whole lot of power/crit damage, just precision for the extra bleeds)

A:

45% to 50% is optimal but like Dranor says, around 35% with fury every so often procs fine too. The scepter hits fairly fast so you’ll get plenty of chances to apply conditions.

you want a 50% crit chance. IMO

30 Curses, Rabid weapons, amulet, rings, and backpiece should be plenty, really. I run Rabid Asceneded jewelry (trinkets are Dire/Rabid)/backpiece and Exotic weapons with Dire armor and enjoy a 37% crit chance pre-Fury. Never had a problem.

  • Dhuumfire hardly scales with crit, because of its 10s ICD. Even in full dire it proccs somewhat reliably. Add in fury and there you go. [It’s roughly ~500dps in pve/wvw, low variance]
  • Sigil of Earth scales okay’ish with crit (2s ICD). [It’s roughly ~500dps in pve, high variance]
  • Barbed Precision is the only one that scales linearly with crit chance. And it’s only worth mentioning in pve with +100% duration. And then it’s still kitten because it’s conditions and gw2 pve. [It’s <200dps per target in pve]

Make of that what you will.

Just curious, does anyone have any data for this?

Not really. This is more of a case of preference. I have no complaints with the proc rates at a 37% crit chance (57% if I just hit DS in the last 5 seconds).

Ah, I think I confused you by using the word “optimal.” My bad. There’s no real optimal number. It’s just a number that allows you to proc conditions at a reasonable rate while maintaining a bit of balance in your build. For instance, you could get a build up to 95% crit chance but it’d lack complimentary stats like critical damage and the health is pretty low.
