Preview State of Necro [ Skill bar ]
Drarnor is correct, I quoted the dev somewhere around here, but its confirmed.
Yeah, we really will need something big to compete with all the faceroll changes that they’ve added to mesmers of all things. But I’d prefer more viablity to power builds than condition builds tbh, which it sounds like we’re getting at the minimal from dagger/axe minor buffs. Although if their promise doe survivbility for utilites really worked.. I’d be happy enough.

Idk, I don’t mind the changes to mesmer. More torment coming out of mesmers means more conditions to throw back on them.

Yeah thankfully necromancers were never weak to conditions… but for most of the other classes, this change will be kind of kittenty for a lot of situations. The only saving grace is that PU can’t hold points. Buffing their GM torment trait was enough of a change, and the scepter should not make clones apply torment at the very least imo.

By relativity , everybuff to the condition application of a profession is a buff to us . But , torment on AA , i’m quite jealous lol
Not in the long run. Necro’s “monopoly” on conditions is long gone. The profession plays like a straight up face tanker. Warrior is a blink-tank in comparison.
If they buff the necro defense in teamfights to a level that brings him on par with the other professions than the whine will be massive from players that like to 1v1.
Nah, Necromancers have always been the gods of conditions. We have plenty of other issues that make us on the line between viable/unviable, but condi necro just flat out destroys condi builds in fights. Its similar to how S/D thief drives so many power builds out of the meta because of how easily they can counter them, condi necro pretty single handily drives out other condi builds.
The mesmer was one of my favorite professions in GW1. And its still one of my favorites in GW2. Giving the Mesmer an auto that actually causes conditions is a great move in my opinion. And the fact that it isn’t bleeding is a good thing! If it was confusion we would be in trouble, but Torment is very manageable.

For necros yes for other professions not so much. With well of power a condi mesmer can give us 15 mights stacks by only autoattecking. And condi transfer is really good against any condi spec.
lich will probably get a big slap in the face, probably wont grant bonus power
(like the tornado nerf)
signets will probably get their cooldowns altered
corrosive poison cloud might get a slight buff.
dagger is getting minor cleave (this one is confirmed, it’ll hit 2 targets)
axe and dagger skills might get changed, expect axe 2 to have its cast time cut.
i’d also fully expect parasitic contagion to get buffed from 5% to 8%
what i’d hope for:
“Signet of Vampirism” getting some/all of its horrible ICDs removed,
the 2 staff traits in the death tree get merged.
Unholy Martyr buffed to pull more condis from allies
I would urge you all to not get your hopes up. Any buffs received will likely be meaningless. The whole class is flawed until they allow healing in death shroud because the sustain mechanic necro has does not work with its class feature.
This is a design failure, and until it is fixed necro will always be kind of weak in my view.
Necromancer/Casual Warrior
[Team] Best WvW guild of all time. EASILY.
Still waiting for my interesting Life Force resource management ;3
The basics of Necro aren’t bad, they just need to be expanded.
Core of our profession and the idea behind it is cool and not as broken in foundaments like, for example, Ranger’s, Warrior’s or Thief’s (for different reason).
I would say that if we got one passionated and dedicated Dev willing to fix us a little bit, he/she could probably do it within a month or two of thinking/testing.
[SALT]Natchniony – Necromancer, EU.

On a side note, there has actually been a fair amount of necros in the EU To finals, and even though I just tuned into the NA one today, a team that will either place 1st or 2nd has a condition necro in it. In EU it was mostly condition too, but I remember seeing one power necro that liched their team to 3rd.. so while necros are niche in pvp it doesn’t seem as depressing as most people om here say. I haven’t seen ANY rangers in the Top matches I watched, even though I remember one team was going to bring one.

Outplayed currently has a necro in the finals of NA, not sure the spec though, the shoutcasters don’t spend a lot of time on him.

Yeah it looked like he runs exactly what I run in WvW. Lots of corruption and maximum mobility.

He was a PoC 0/6/4/0/4 terrormancer spec with flesh wurm and I forget what else. And yeah the shoutcasters focused mostly on Zoose and the warrriors, but given how Zoose absolutely dominated with S/F, which was really awesome to see, I don’t blame them!

Also had corrupt boon and spectral walk.
the 3rd place was xerrexs team Enhanced Gaming, theyre good. but they advanced cz TCG/TM had 2 players missing , the power necro comp totaly lost in semi finals, then they won 3rd place when monks played on their alts and lolz builds.
on NA the team with necro won. the necro is noscoc and is runing full fear (nightmare, reap. prot) carrion
Whats interesting is they won against a double warrior comp. now the NA = EU soloq stuff aside, they had 2 engies and zoose definetly the mvp on fresh air burst ele For me on eu pretty weird stuff (no thief in finals, 1 dps guard, no bunker guard) so it was pretty entertaining

That is a valid point. I don’t think a condi mesmer is going to be able to stand up to a condi necro in a fight very will without playing it very smart. But I’m thinking on the other side of the coin. PvE. Torment doesn’t steal bleed stack from other players so it could be reasonable to have a condi necro and condi mesmer working together with out too much, if any, loss of damage.
But that’s a bit niche I suppose. And I’m not even convinced that a condi mesmer will become a thing in PvE even with this addition. They need longer lasting conditions across the board for that to happen.

No, mesmer pugs will still break the meta and afk range with their GS’s and use the 5 skill to knock back all the mobs in PvEsports!!!!1!1!1!!11!!
but really though, condition necro should always beat PU mesmer, or any condition mesmer 1v1 no matter what, since necro is inherently “good” against conditions, while mesmer is inherently “weak” to conditions. Even when they go 0/6/6/2/0 for maximum condi clear from mantras, it still wouldn’t be enough to avoid being fear chained into oblivion when the necro gets a clear shot so to say.
