Well we are lacking a lot of things in that aspect but LB rangers are not that bad. One solution is to double dodge roll at them. This will put you within 600-300 range depending on how far they started away, while avoiding their opening burst. This is of coarse if you are not using our fancy pull utility. If you need to double dodge roll at him, just go into DS and then LB, LB, LB dead..They are super squish and 3 LB’s will kill them.

Against rangers, or mesmers it is essential that you hit your soft cc skills regardless of what build you are playing. Dark pact, Chillblains, Dark Path, Tainted Shackles, Unholy Feast, and Grasping Dead will limit their movement giving you the chance to get in range and deal some damage.

I am going to try and use spectral grasp now. Double dodging is no option because I do not want to waste them for just distance closing.
However I still think we need to have at least a bit of damage mitigation for projectiles.
spectral armor is definitely mitigation, also punishes people spamming skills while it’s up to an extent so it might be what you are looking for.

Disadventage of this for me is that if I want to mitigate damage, I will also waste a stun breaker which makes is less likely for me to use when I am just being hit by far shot stuff. Next to that, 6s of protection aint that much :S
I found That I really like spectral grasp, but it seems a bit cluncky. It doesnt seem to be a homing projectile, making it hard to land on long range. Next to that it sometimes sais to be obstructed while there is nothing inbetween and doesnt always pull the full range.
Not sure what build you’re using, but I have no issues against Rangers using a Zerk Necro. I can dish out just as much damage from range as the Ranger can, along with having Death Shroud and Spectral armor to absorb damage. There is also ample access to chill and cripple to close the gap to get in some good dagger damage.
And V, Spectral Armor is more than just a stun breaker and 6 seconds of protection, it also generates a ton of Life Force while taking damage, and can even be used to maintain or build Life Force while in Death Shroud.
Los the kitten out of the ranger, if he tried to go on point with you he will lose.

I understand the need to not want to waste them. In a 1v1…go ahead and waste away, because the first burst is all u need to dodge lol..Once the gap is closed they are dead.
In all honesty, in a 1v1 as you are walking up, that is the PERFECT counter; because who ever expects you to double dodge roll
1v1 I do it and it works 100% of the time. They blow their knockdown and their rapid fire on nothingness & then you shrek em. Still got chains, fear, etc if need too; and after 1 of those you dodges are back. Element of surprise! YA I JUST DOUBLE DODGE ROLLED YOU FOOL! Didn’t see that comin, did ya?
