Pure Power Reaper Roaming 2 [Video]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsby6rYkxS8
Would you consider your opponents in this video skilled players? When I face rangers on my reaper usually the first thing they do is knock me the hell back (ive not yet learnt to anticipate and dodge that shot). That reaper you fought was condi right? And yet you had the upper hand thruout the fight, i always lose to condi reapers on my power reaper ( but i also use a gs so thats probably why ). Anyway nice vid, thanks for sharing
PS: would you share your build ?

I think you asked a very relevant question.
Are my opponents good players?
I’ve watched popular youtubers like Holls and Donee.
Are their opponents good?
Honestly, I’ll say that most of their opponents are not good.
Entertaining fights, outnumbered fights, jukes, both Holls and Donee display in their videos in spades and I enjoy watching them.
But were their opponents good? I wouldn’t judge only based on the skills that the opponent is showing.
Good is really relative.
I can only judge in relation to the skill Holls and Donee has been showing.
Holls know his skills well from the videos that he has been showing, though I’ve never fought him, but I would say he is too good for his opponents. His opponents are mostly not even near his level (at least for the few roaming videos that I’ve watched).
In relation to Holls’ skills, most of his opponents aren’t good enough.
Donee? I’ve fought this monster when I was still in T1 NA. His skills are way above mine. But in the videos he has been showing, his opponents really don’t do him justice. Most of his opponents aren’t good enough either, at least in relation to his skills. Also I think playing too much condi might have made him too relaxed since condi reaper can take a lot more punishment than a power reaper =p
Myself? I can only say that in both my recent Power Reaper roaming videos, quite a few of the opponents I’m showing are near or above my skill level. I showed fights against opponents who have killed me at least once or made me feel like I needed to be at my best.
I’ve only been showing my wins, but in reality, most of them have at least killed me once, some even multiple times. Are my opponents good? In relation to my skill level, most of them are.
As for your question on the condi reaper (yes he is condi) and the druid (he is a condi druid, not the longbow power druid that knocks you back mostly), they’ve both not won against me in my memory, but I included them to show how one could fight condi classes using the build I was running. In fact, with Staff 4, Dagger 4 and Plague signet, you’re going to lose to a condi enemy only if you get badly outplayed. There are a few who can trouble you though. Interrupt spam from a condi Daredevil comes to mind and they can really make things difficult.
I’ve not managed to video a fight against a Longbow power druid/ranger, but I did fight one very good one (very good in relation to my skill level), he kited like a boss. My record against him was 3 loss and 1 win. And that was even when I was using the tricks that Donee taught and showed me =(
Having said all that thing about ‘good’ being relative to your own skill, I do classify my opponents and even myself on how ‘good’ we are.
- Normal pugs = stands around auto-attacking, runs around helplessly
- Average = Skill spamming (at least he knows how to spam his skills =p)
- Good = Knows his skill combos well
- Very good = What I said in ‘Good’ + Knows how to bait out dodges and defenses from his opponents before unleashing his combos. Knows how to fight against different classes and builds, knows his enemies’ skill combos well and therefore knows how to evade, what to dodge etc.
- Godly = what I said in ‘Very good’ + extremely varied combat style. They can fight you multiple times but you can never ‘predict’ or get used to their fighting style because they fight and engage differently every time. I know one such Roamer in FA. A base mesmer. Previously flying the KD guild tag, but now flying the EV guild tag. People say he uses macros to chain his skills etc. but honestly, I think they just can’t comprehend how good he is. I’ve fought him at least 20 times and lost every time. And it was not even close.
When I’m focused (mostly on weekends after my afternoon nap), I rate myself between ‘Good’ and ‘Very Good’. There are still quite a few enemy classes and builds and playstyles that I have yet to analyze fully on how best to engage them with the build I’m running. So I’m not there yet at ‘Very Good’. Starting to move from ‘Good’ to ‘Very good’.
My opponents in the videos are mostly like me.
The build I was running =) You can add golden fried dumpling food into the build to make it even stronger (got this idea from Holls’ video. I don’t use it though as I don’t have the gold to spare lol)

If I may add, I suspect Holls is between Very good and Godly.
His fighting style is very varied but unfortunately his recent roaming power reaper video/s didn’t really show any worthy opponent.
I can attest that Donee, at least in my view, (and painful experience of fighting him), is between Very good and Godly.
Why between? because his opponents in his video don’t do him justice :<
Also, let me promote my first video again because I like the music here better.

Thanks for the in-depth reply. Honestly I’ll probably never even reach good on your rank list, I dont play enough pvp to develop the needed skill and mindset + Im unfamiliar with the rest of the classes and their +/-. What little I do, I do it for armor skins. Still, spending the match as a punching bag aint nice so I do try to improve albeit little by little. My main problem is that I really want to play with a greatsword. I’ve seen Hollts’ berserk GS reaper video but I believe most of his success in that footage is not thanks to some secret power reaper formula but to the awesome team support he is getting and the lvl of his opponents. Of course he is also very skilled himself but I dont think even he can do as good in a random soloQ unranked match consistently. While soloQing I’ve had matches where people let me cleave them and kill them with big gravedigger crits and matches where people kite the kitten out of me and leave me helpless. And im getting more and more of the second kind which means only very low skill level people can be fought with the gs. That sucks imo, making the gs a pve weapon exclusively.
Anyway thanks again for the info
Can confirm most of what is said here!
To make a dank video like I always do (;-) you need:
1. players who aren’t as good as you so you can do outnumbered fights…
2. some OP/strong build, which (power) reaper doesn’t really have tho.
3. some luck
4. some sick electro music
5. funny comments/dank editing
6. quite a bit of skill and knowledge of the game
7. not show yourself dying xD
8. some cool intro 360 spin with no UI :P
Most of these anyone can do, but number 6 actually requires you to be good. I believe i’m a good player, but I still lose quite a bit of my duels vs other competent players not running cheese builds.
I get absolutely destroyed by most other youtubers because reaper isn’t the best 1v1 class when you’re not condi, and I get quite nervous xD
In my reaper videos I OF COURSE show players who are not as good as me. Else I can’t win :P But when I show 1v1’s I try to show players who are of similar skill level, because else it’s just not fair. You can’t do outnumbered fights with players of similar skill level… #truth.
And yes, as pointed out above, in this video:
I got carried so hard by my teammates. I was FULL HEALTH in a fricking team fight, our bunker guard did a great job. I still killed some ppl with my mad skillz tho :p
Hope this cleared things up, and nice video Eremite!
Ps. For every kill shown in one of my videos I die at least 2x :p
Thanks for the input Holl. I gotta say its thanks to your video I got brave enough to try pvp with my greatsword reaper ( later I learnt its not all rainbows and butterflies ). And while my skill level is quite low (your point #6) and I spent most of the time losing, it is still very satisfying when I finally get to land that 10k+ gravedigger.
6. quite a bit of skill and knowledge of the game
Most of these anyone can do, but number 6 actually requires you to be good.
This. Watching you execute your jukes and combos and timings flawlessly in your powe roaming videos, also gave me a very strong impression that you are not just good, but at the very least between Very Good and Godly.
Secretly, just between you and me, I think you’re a level higher than Donee.
Since power does indeed require more skills than condi =p
