I’m curious if there is a viable PvE necromancer build out there? I am tired of all the power gameplay I do with a warrior. I realize Condition isn’t favored at all, but I am sure there is a viable way to do it. If anyone could guide me I’d appreciate it.

Wouldn’t Rabid be better then Sinister because of the toughness being converted to extra condition damage?

Undead runes are horrible and the gained condition damage is negligible. If you’re going to run a condition build, you’re going to want Aristocracy runes.

You would think, but no. Since switching to Sinister my conditionmancer is even better than before. That extra condition damage from toughness doesnt make a huge difference anyways.

How do you get sinister gear? Is this new? Just came back to my necro after 2 years of not playing.

Or do the events and get Sinister armour recipe books to drop. I’ve had enough drops to make a light and a medium set. More are coming for a heavy set, might work for a Revenant.

Must say though, a Sinister necro is very exciting to play in WvW because the margin for error is very low XD

Anyone try to make a more optimised Sinister build for WvW?

Sinister is your best bet for a pure condition build for PvE. You get the extra power which lets you turtle in DS when you really need to as well as lets you benefit more from effects allies give. It also lets you destroy objects quicker.

That isn’t to say rabid is a bad choice. its still a excellent choice for a condi necromancer. The extra toughness can help allot with people who want to run condi but are not as comfortable with the profession.

Rampagers with a sinister/carrion mix for a hybrid set looks good as well if you want to go that way. But i personally haven’t tried it so my opinion on that is limited.

For Runes. I’d go with rune of the krait, Aristocrat, nightmare, torment or perplexity depending on how you want to run. Although those are just suggestions you can pick whatever you like of course, but that’s my advice. Krait is the easiest and cheapest to get and its a superb choice considering necromancers primary source of damage is bleed.

Aristocrat has become a popular one given how easy it is to grant yourself might stacks with traits. e.g Might on Life blast or signet use.

Yep thats why I suggested it. I personally done like it so much because if you are running with a good group you’ll have 25 stacks of might most the time without investing in those runes anyway and they really aren’t needed if you are just roaming. They are better for farming from what I’ve seen.

I personally run the following:

6/6/0/2/0:
Spiteful Spirit/ Chill of death/ Parasitic contagion
Hemopihlla/Terror/Lingering Curse
Mark of evasion

Rapid gear, or sinister gear. Runes of krait or nightmare or undead if using rabid gear
Scepter/Dagger – sigil of bursting/earth
Staff- Sigil of geomancy/corruption
Pizza/Toxic crystal

Utilities: Blood is power, epidemic, then either poison cloud or corrupt boon or spectral wall depending on the situation.

Mostly stay in scepter/dagger, using AA, 2 and 5 skill. hit target with blood is power, and posion cloud then use dagger 4 to transfer. dodge into target, swap to staff, spam 2-5, swap to DS, 5,2,3, out of DS, staff 2, swap to scepter, repeat.

Perfect rotation gives you a constant 22-25 stacks of bleed, 100% poison uptime, 3 stacks of torment, close to 100% chill, and cripple uptime, and if using poison cloud, ~75% weakness uptime. You’ll get 5s of fear per rotation as well, which with terror is an extra 6k dmg. If you do it right the enemy will always be either chilled or immobilized when you cast fear so they don’t actually move, they just take dmg, so it is fine to use in AOE situations as well.

Cast an epidemic on a fully conditioned enemy and you can heal to full health in about 10s, you will never go down so stacking sigils are used to full potential.

I don’t know if this is the maximum damage setup, but it provides wonderful control, makes you nigh impossible to kill in PvE and gives you pretty great damage.

If you get overwhelmed with enemies, use plague and you can heal yourself to full and stay there for the duration of the elite. hopefully giving you and your teammates time to thin out the enemies.
