I just got to lvl 80 using Staff and Minions. Having a fast look in various forums i can see that Dagger is a <must> for Necros. Is there any viable Staff + Minions or at least Staff only build?
I could also use a Scepter instead of Staff, as in general i want to play Necro more like a caster.
I play mostly PvE content and i m planning also to do many Dungeon runs. Thank you.

Axe helps MM builds a great deal. Every stack of vulnerability you apply with axe adds 1% more damage to each minion. Think of it as casting Might on all your minions. Vulnerability on 1 opponent is roughly equal to might on all allies. The vulnerability cap is what gives axe a hard time so watch it and change weapon as needed.

Staff is just a utility weapon, used for creating breathing room. In condi builds it can offer quite some damage though. I wouldn’t reccomend creating a build around one weapon though

You can continue to use Staff if your playing minions. Mind you, if you want to be more efficient in dungeons, you need to change your build. But in open world PvE (exploring, JP, Map Completion, Events, etc.) you will do fine.

I would have to try and figure the build I used before the changes, but I went with life drain skills and pet buffs. Also, I went with PTV gear so I could tank and let the pets kill. You can keep regen on you and your minions with your marks, and drop debuffs off with #4. I would recommend getting Axe as an off set. A Focus works great pairing with the Axe, and a Warhorn is good for the mobility. That will come down to your style.

Something like this:

That is just something to get you started and play around with your style. It was very tanky before the talent changes, so its been a while. I used to be able to kill stuff just as easy tanking it in that build as I did kiting it with conditions.

Hope that helped some!

I’d personally just go with berserker gear, so you can switch to dps build quick and easy if needed.

And what about runes?

Scholar runes, or something similar. Ranger runes are cheaper than Scholar’s, og and synergise with the minions.

Edit: Don’t post from your phone. :P

Thx Rattex Already checked that but i prefer playing with minions, so i guess i ll go with BlackIsleDragon’s suggestions and use Berserker gear. Tbh playing with it the last few days i find it really comfortable and enjoyable build, at least for open world content.

I am glad it has helped! The main thing to remember is you play the way you want, at least in open world content. I would suggest looking into a Well style build, or some other skills you might enjoy for Events and Dungeons. Unfortunately, Minions are not very good at avoiding AoE, but maybe one day…
