Take dagger offhand and roflstomp those Condi engis, please. They are polluting every game I play with that brainless bombspam
The dhuum fear build is still the best necro Condi build. Anyone who still thinks its going to be hard to land those dhuumfire hits hasn’t used the build post patch. Rabid amulet, scepter dagger staff, corrupt boon spectral wall, spectral walk or armor, I prefer walk. I still go with nightmare runes but krait would work perfectly as well. I can kill most people in like 8 seconds. The only huge problem with the build is if you get focused and stun locked your kinda screwed.

engis only have two dmg dealing condis on their bombs… you know that right?
Any suggestions/advice? What do you find you have a hard time with? How do you enjoy your necro?
Corrupt boon will generally serve you better than WoC, since its an instant burst strip, instead of relying on them to screw around. Generally against bunkers, I just wait for them to start putting up a few boons, and then I get to corrupting (Dark Path for a small number, CB for big sets), I even personally bring SoS for a real big middle finger to people who jump me, since CB → SoS will murder specs without full cleanses.
I also bring Spectral Armor. It is the closest thing to a block/immunity we have if you jump into DS.
Take dagger instead of focus.
Make sure you have shrouded removal and Path of Corruption with your trait setup.
Bring stun breaks, 2 if you are getting stunned all the time.
Your choices:
Well— slow cast underwhelming effect
Spectral armor — great but you already have it in traits
Spectral Walk-- effect stinks, but you can use it to get 2 stun breaks
Flesh Wurm— Clunky, requires a precast, long cool down
Bring Corrupt Boon
You can use this same setup with a power based amulet and axe to great effect, a totally different play style with the exact same traits.
You shouldnt need anything more that dagger 4 staff 4 and cc to deal with Condi as a necro… What well is a stunbreak…. Wop gives stability but its not a stunbreak. Spectral walk and flesh wurm are the best two stunbreak options most of the time especially in tpvp. In hotjoins in that New deathmatch use Armor. I still prefer dhuumfire over path of corruption.ddhuum terror wasn’t nerfed…. Now as long as your paying attention you can control when the flame tick goes off usually wait till they burn a stunbreak go into ds 5 3 1 very very nice burst.

Depends on your opponent(s).

Also debatable.
As far as utility and team support is concerned WoP easily trumps all of our other stunbreaks, especially in tpvp.
Wow lol shows how much I know. I still think cc and the 4s is enough for me then again I have my own guildy calling me an idiot for using wall and walk. As far as wop you might be right on the highest end but even playing with guildies its impossible getting them to sit on a well. Hell even I hate sitting still.

The casting necro doesn’t have to sit in the well, for its effect.
Well Of Power and Corrupt Boon are the two utilities I always have on me. The third being interchangeable. The first two have so many great uses though that I can’t be bothered to replace them. WOP is, IMHO, the best stunbreaker. Because if you get immobilized, stunned, dazed, anything like that, a lot of the time conditions are stacked on you as well. As soon as you cast WOP you get a stunbreak as well as cleanses. It has a lengthy cooldown but it means you can cleanse conditions without using Consume Conditions. As for Corrupt Boon, well.. Maybe I’m just bias because it’s my absolute favorite utility in the game but nothing satisfies me more than rofling at people who pop a bunch of boons and watching them all go poof.
Still, no matter what profession you choose to roll, in a PvP environment, stunbreakers and/or stability are an absolute must. I currently have 2 in my bar just to be safe as I seem to be crossing a lot of Mesmer’s lately that like to daze, stun, push and pull me like a godkitten ragdoll.

flesh wurm is actualy our lowest CD stunbreak. not to meantion its is only 1 which can gives 100% dmg avoidance.
dont diss it, its actualy better than any of spectrals, requires no traits, only reason is s.walk sometimes proves better for swiftness, just cz necro is slow and cant afford speed runes anymore

He does for the cleansing pulses.
As to the “sitting in the well” in general, if people are fighting on a capture node in spvp it’s rather likely that your allies will stay in the well for most of the 5 seconds it is up.
Also, you can blast finish blindness with putrid mark and possibly get vigor protection and aegis. Standing in this well can be one of the safest spots in a team fight, even if your opponents are trying to focus you. So usually I’d rather tank it out instead of porting away with Flesh Wurm.

I get while people like wop I just don’t seem to need anymore Condi cleanses. If I’m dying on my necro its not from condis its from some warrior or guardian that managed to get to close to me. More likely the warrior not so much guardians. Signet warriors seem to be the only class i sometimes have problems with.
I actually like wop on power builds just not Condi.

I take WoP if I am fighting a condi heavy group. It’s nice being in control of those condis, plus the team support against all those conditions doesn’t hurt. I’ll take plague signet, too, depending on team comps.
WoP just isn’t worth it for a condi necro. If you are power its a different story, but every other stunbreak gives you more as a condi necro. You don’t need cleansing, you don’t need to stand in one area, and you should never be on point to benefit the team that way. The other stun breaks give far more ability to kite and avoid being trained down, and that is way better.
First of all, you are underrating WoP.
Secondly, everthing you said depends on the situation, your own build, number of players and professions/builds involved, the terrain you’re fighting on, whether you’re being focused or not…
A general statement like “you’ll be range-spamming aoe and nothing else…” is almost never going to be what your actual engagements will look like. And usually this kind of gameplay will do less for your team than occasionally standing right in the middle of a fight and taking some hits.

WOP has never failed me.. To those saying it’s not so great I challenge you to tell me that you are never overwhelmed by conditions. Personally, I find the more stunbreakers and cleanses I have the better.. And WOP is a two-for-one. I’m not saying the other stunbreakers are bad by any means, just that I personally find WOP to be far, far more useful. On top of that, you don’t need to stand in it for the entire duration to get the full effect of it. It provides cleanses for your team, gets you out of stuns while also cleansing, and if you roll back through it a few times you get more cleanses. I fail to see how it’s not so great, I never go anywhere without it.. Even in PvE (unless it’s a dungeon I know I won’t need a lot of cleanses for or something.)

that is true, but I said that since it can apply burning very reliably, and it’s one of the most damaging conditions in the game
Its not an issue of WoP being bad, its an issue of the other stunbreaks being better for condi necros (which is the context of this thread). Positioning yourself relatively out of danger and kiting is the best way to stay alive to deal damage, because you are easy to train down. WoP doesn’t do anything for you in this way, it only breaks the stun off you, and a lot of people will have follow up stuns. You should already have a ton of cleansing as condi necro, plus the constant application of bleeds from pretty much anything means WoP often doesn’t even get deep into your condi stacks.
SA will almost negate damage while active
SWalk will allow you to run and kite far more easily, plus give you a second break
Flesh Wurm instantly creates distance, and in teh right location will put you on top of walls that the person attacking you will have trouble getting up
Plague Signet instantly transfers all your conditions to the enemy, often giving them stacks of cripple/chill/immob to kite
There is no situation where I’d ever bring WoP on a condi build.
^ WoP brings support, and trumps all other stun breaks except plague signet in that regard.

Well, that’s where we are in disagreement. Imo WoP is better than any other stun break, even for condition necros who have every other possible cleanse as well. It is that good.
Positioning yourself relatively out of danger and kiting is the best way to stay alive to deal damage, because you are easy to train down.
Again, I disagree. Staying in range is 1. not always possible, 2. not always the best option for survivability, 3. not always the best damage option.
Also, if people decide to “train you down” standing a little off to the side doesn’t mean you’re safe.
WoP doesn’t do anything for you in this way, it only breaks the stun off you,
Quite the opposite actually.
Vigor and aegis are very common because burning and bleeding are high up in cleasing priority.
Also, dark field, aoe blindness, nuf said.
plus the constant application of bleeds from pretty much anything means WoP often doesn’t even get deep into your condi stacks.
Oh what a bummer, guess I’ll have to take perma vigor then…
and a lot of people will have follow up stuns.
How does this make other stunbreaks better?
SA will almost negate damage while active
Depends on the amount of damage and if you are in DS at the time.
SWalk will allow you to run and kite far more easily, plus give you a second break
Situational.
Flesh Wurm instantly creates distance, and in teh right location will put you on top of walls that the person attacking you will have trouble getting up
Even more situational. And if I had to make a choice I’d definitely take a utility that let’s me keep up the pressure in fight than the one that does nothing and completely moves me away from my allies if I need to break a stun.
Plague Signet instantly transfers all your conditions to the enemy, often giving them stacks of cripple/chill/immob to kite
Yes it’s a full clease, but compare to WoP it’s rather unreliable, has a longer cd, doesn’t create a combo field and deosn’t give you any boons.
I have so little problems with other Condi users I genuinely get excited fighting another Condi build because I know exactly how the fights gonna go I’m gonna start my rotation he’s gonna start his I’m going to let him hit me with the Condi hits and watch for anything like a stun or fear. Once I’m nice and loaded with condis I transfer then hit ds 5 3 1 dead.
