Hi all, new to Necro. Feel free to answer any or all. My focus is WvW and sPvP.

When you draw conditions on to yourself (plague sig), and then reapply them to an enemy, do they do damage based on YOUR condition damage or the condition damage of the opponent who gave them to your teammates?

Does plague signet take 1 condition from EACH ally every 10 seconds? Or only from 1 ally every 10 seconds?

At max life force, how much damage does Deathshroud absorb?

Is the damage you take in DS still mitigated by your toughness?

Is maximum hp in DS related in any way to your vitality? (guessing not, only life force).

During the FIRST encounter of a sPvP map, what are some fast ways to build lifeforce in sPVP as condition-mancer, so that I don’t get into too much trouble?

Wiki states corrupt boon turns aegis into burning, but the corrupt boon would really be blocked if they had aegis up right?

Thanks in advance if anyone takes time to answer. I will probably come up with more questions very soon, heheh.

Any time you transfer conditions, the damage is based on your own condition damage.

Yes maximum HP in DS is related to Vitality, however I’ve read tons of different guesses, all with numbers, as to how exactly it affects you (anywhere from about 2/3rds of your HP up to 1.2 times your HP).

Wiki states corrupt boon turns aegis into burning, but the corrupt boon would really be blocked if they had aegis up right?

Thanks in advance if anyone takes time to answer. I will probably come up with more questions very soon, heheh.

1. Based on your condition damage (necro casting plauge signet), with a duration based on what it was when it was ticking on you (as in however much time was left on it on you)

2. Suppose to pulse 1 condition in an AOE around you every 10 seconds from allies in range (presumably capped at 5). I don’t use it much, so I can’t confirm for sure, but others have tested in the affirmative on this. Someone can verify me.

3. An EXCELLENT question, I was trying to figure out in another post. The assumption was always that it was 100% of your HP, and it would degenerate at either 3% or 4% depending on traits per second. Right now I don’t have a good answer for this, but my testing seems to indicate roughly 60% of your normal HP pool. Also if you are in DS and no matter what percentage you have left, you can take a big hit and it should not overflow to your health bar. Jade Maw is the only exception I can think of where it doesn’t always work right (fractal end boss).

4. My testing indicated toughness does cause you to take less damage in the combat log, and lose a smaller % of your DS life force.

5. Another good question. DS is absolutely related to your vitality. You can tell this by taking on and off vitality gear with around 50% life force. The 50% number will go up and down based on your removal and addition of vitality gear. The ratio seems to indicate a 1 to 1 relationship. For example… add 40 vitality (400 hp), and the percentage of your life force will decrease the percentage of your normal life bar that 400 hp represents. Hard to picture, just try it in game and it makes more sense.

6. in Spvp (not Tpvp) you can summon minions, and then just switch the skill to whatever you want to use in that round before it starts (in the holding area). The minion dies, you get life force, and you have switched to a skill you want. If you are talking about the first person you meet with 0% life force in tow, its really hard to build LF as a condition mancer without taking traits for it, like 3% LF per mark cast etc.

7. Not anymore. CB still fails for a number of reasons mostly related to hitbox and LOS and vertical sep, but aeigis does not block it since a bug fix a while back.

I would love some other testers input on the mechanics of DS. And as always anyone that finds fault in the above feel free to correct me.

The damage is based on your condition damage. Check out our podcast’s we covered a lot of these questions :P. http://sittingonacouch.com/category/gaming/

Does plague signet take 1 condition from EACH ally every 10 seconds? Or only from 1 ally every 10 seconds?

It depends on how close they are to you, and I believe it’s 1 from each though I haven’t tested it because most of our signets are pretty awful.

At max life force, how much damage does Deathshroud absorb?

The easy answer is all the damage you take while in Deathshroud. :P. No one has done the math to find the total amount of damage that can be absorbed because it really depends on how much vitality/toughness you have.

Is the damage you take in DS still mitigated by your toughness?

I believe it’s based a percentage of your toughness.

Is maximum hp in DS related in any way to your vitality? (guessing not, only life force).

Your vitality affects your HP though no one knows the exact number.

During the FIRST encounter of a sPvP map, what are some fast ways to build lifeforce in sPVP as condition-mancer, so that I don’t get into too much trouble?

Hang in the back and apply conditions. This was covered a little bit in last week’s podcast with Symbolic.

Wiki states corrupt boon turns aegis into burning, but the corrupt boon would really be blocked if they had aegis up right?

Trusting the wiki is scary. Corrupt boon can only be evaded or blocked without boons. If you have the boon aegis up, it gets changed.

Oooh it’s the 3 people from the podcast, how fun! Thanks for your replies, the info has been noted.

Some responses to the podcast:

First of all, thanks for putting that together, it was great fun to listen to and informative!

Harumph @ whoever said D/D eles in PVT do no dmg ;p, the part of me that’s still an ele (and not yet a necro) takes great umbrage at that! Remember, melee-range abilities on average hit way harder than ranged-ranged. Running sharpening stones to turn get power from T & V helps, as does having 250 power from the sigil. I am just potentially rerolling because I want to be a RANGED caster, not a light tank. And staff eles…lol, /shakes head.

So, I guess I’m surprised to hear so many people struggling with thieves. I’ve only played necro for 2 days in sPvP, with the MMR where my Ele’s was, and I was close to beating them and got some to downed-state. That’s pretty good considering I didn’t have full lifeforce when I fought them and I don’t really know what I’m doing (like at all). I can’t see them being that bad in WvW.

At minimum, once DS/heal/dodge are used up, can’t you just pop our cloud elite and wait for a teammate to help you?

Also, I liked how you guys mentioned if the fight goes south, we’re screwed. I have been mentally psyching myself to die instead of RTLing away to safety, lol.

BUT, I read about the norn snow leopard elite. Let’s assume I could happily get by not having bone fiend/cloud/lich form, wouldn’t that be a viable escape for roaming?

Thanks again. I love our GW2 community.

The struggle with thieves is in open world vs world vs world. They can be a bit tricky in sPvP, but in tournament play they are much easier to handle because they isn’t as much space for them to get away too.

In tournaments it’s much easier to handle thieves and ele’s but in WvWvW thier ability to reset fights can really cause frustration. sPvP you won’t run into the really great ones, unless they are build testing, and even then there are so many people around that it’s hard for them to pop in kill and get away.

PVT Ele’s come in two methods Bunkers and Balance – bunkers do no damage and are spearheaders which means they charge head in and annoy you. Balance guys are more popular in roaming teams in WvWvW and tournaments where you want to disrupt caps.

Yeah I meant tPvP. I missed the memo about referring to 8v8 as spvp and 5v5 as tpvp. I don’t use the forums much actually.

And yeah, balance d/d ele ftw!

flash into deathshroud while at full just long enough to take a hit from a mob or something (I used a deer in wvw), and see how much damage it does to your LF. I found that with 30 in soul reaping my LF was close to 60% of my HP, as Rennoko mentioned.
It’s important to note that a single hit won’t do both LF and HP damage to you, which to give an example makes it very useful against gank thieves, as you sponge the steal and CnD easily, and as long as you still have any LF left (which you should), most thieves will then completely waste their backstab on you, leaving their heartseeker spam to hit you while at full health.
